VLAN Setup

So, I am new with Proxmox. And I understand that it is recommended that I keep Corosync traffic separate from other traffic, to the point where it is recommended that there be separate NICs for that traffic specifically. Well, I don't really want to go that far, as I am doing this in a test lab. So I would like to set up a separate VLAN for that traffic, and apply QOS to it.

My network:
Internet Gateway Router <--> Switch with QOS and 802.1q <--> Several Proxmox Hosts

Is this good...

CPU Typ Host generell migrierbar?

Guten Mittag zusammen,

Hi, I recently rebooted my Proxmox server, and after the reboot, I can no longer access the web interface or ping external sites.

pveversion - pve-manager/8.3.4/65224a0f9cd294a3 (running kernel - 6.8.12-8-pve)

What I Noticed:

Hi,

I have a 2 node proxmox cluster with a qdevice for quroum, all connected to the same switch and working well.
Code:
Membership information

0x00000001 1 A,V,NMW 192.168.10.11 (local)

0x00000000 1 Qdevice

I shutdown one node (192.168.10.12) and the cluster still works well:

Proxmox VE rocks, except for this one thing, the memory usage graph.

We have a couple of pretty beefy VM hosts running the latest VE and have on one host a fairly beefy VM because it is running a Mastodon server with 200 active accounts on it. However, the displayed memory usage in the Proxmox VE dashboard for this VM always shows 97% and higher memory utilization when it isn't being utilized like what is being displayed. A lot of the memory used is cached (we are still working on this part), but even when we clear the cache from time to time, the UI...

Hallo,

Code:
KAS_Login="MeinBenutzername"
KAS_Authdata="MeinKennwort"
KAS_Authtype="plain"

Auch unter Konte habe ich mir ein Let's Encrypt Konto eingerichtet.

In der Node habe ich unter Zertifikate ->...

Hi devs and users,

Personally, I use proxmox in multiple domains (private and semi-professional).
For this reason, I have also two Backup servers running to handle the backups. All servers are doing daily backups, some even more, in total ~5TB with ~200GB changes per week.
One server is running with metadata SSD cached, data HDD ZFS filesystem as a VM. The other is "a bit weird", a cloud instance using remotely mounted storage for financial reasons.
Both of them run really well with a...

Sanity check - clone offsite or duplicate backup?

$

Hi, I have a local PBS server (in a CT on Proxmox) and an offsite one. If I merely "sync" them then any bug in the onsite PBS is replicated to the offsite one and I've lost the resilience of the 3-2-1 strategy. OTOH, backing up separately to the local one and remote one seems really inefficient, and opens the doors to more complexity (https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/concurrent-backups.162680/).

What do you all do?

ACME not using configured http proxy

It seems like ACME is not using the globally configured http proxy when doing requests. If I try to add an account in the PVE GUI I get
Code:
Error: GET to https://acme-v02.api.letsencrypt.org/directory Can't connect to acme-v02.api.letsencrypt.org:443 (Network is unreachable) Network is unreachable at /usr/share/perl5/LWP/Protocol/http.pm line 50. (500)

I can register an account via the CLI if i provide the "https_proxy" environment variable ("http_proxy" does not work) but as this need...

Concurrent backups

I'm assuming yes, but just checking - PBS does "the right thing" if a CT/VM is included in multiple *overlapping* backup schedules? Including if they have different backup strategies?

For example, assume I have CM/VM1 configured in an hourly *snapshot* schedule and a midnight *shutdown* schedule. At midnight, I'd expect one of those to take effect and then the next to take effect.

Can anyone confirm this please.

cloud-init snippets hostname is no longer the vm name

$

I am using the proxmox api to clone a template. When I create a custom user snippet with all the same information from the cloud init file when created from the gui and adding to it, customization commands. proxmox no longer makes the host name the same as the vm name. Is there a way to bring back this feature when using snippets?

Can you use the prebuilt cloud init code along side with a snippet or does the snippet completely override the gui created cloud init?

Thanks
Brad

Fresh Proxmox & pfSense+ install - Slow network speeds

Hello all,

I'm having a bit of a difficulty with the internet speeds on a fresh install of Proxmox and pfSense.

I was using an HP EliteDesk 805 G6 with an AMD Ryzen 5 processor with had an Intel i225-V 2.5GbE Flex IO V2 NIC for WAN and a Realtek 8156/8156B 2.5GbE USB to Ethernet for LAN. It was working FLAWLESSLY! Getting 1.30Gbps+ with that setup:

Performance Issues with VMs and Host During Compilation on Proxmox – Possible SSD Bottleneck?

Hello Proxmox community,

I’m experiencing performance issues on my Proxmox VE setup and would appreciate some guidance. I’m running a Proxmox host with dual processors (88 threads total, with less than half allocated to VMs), plenty of spare RAM, and all VMs stored on a single Kingston SSDNow UV400 480 GB SSD. The issue occurs when I compile programs in one of the VMs: the other VMs and even the host become slow and unresponsive, with noticeable lag and occasional freezes.

Here are the...

Newbie help: VM Snapshots and Proxmox Node disk format/type

Hey! I come from a Windows/VMware environment. Switching to proxmox for VMs and especially LXC.

I have 2 new Proxmox VE 8.3.0 nodes. Each has exact same hardware & both have a 256GB nvme (for Proxmox install) and a WD Red 2TB SSD (for VMs, CTs etc).
ISOs are accessed via NFS share from a QNAP NAS.

I've setup a few VMs when I came across the inability to Snapshot "current guest config does not support snapshots". Seems in both nodes the 2TB disks were added as /dev/sda and as LVM. I'm...
