After I discovered ProxMox I'm moving from VMWare but I'm trying to understand some key concepts of ZFS since my server RAID failed me at least twice corrupting data on my 2 SATA SSD devices on RAID 1. I'm still using hardware RAID for now, but planning to study ZFS before moving from it to use compression and to have more resilience, so I'll not discuss the pros and cons of my current hardware capabilities.

ich bitte um eure Hilfe.
Ich habe einen Proxmox Container den ich 1x im Monat über die Backupfunktion sichere, gesicht wird auf ein Syno Nas.
Das funktioniert alles einwandfrei!
Ich hab im Container Ändeurngen vorgenommen und benötige jetzt aus dem Backup diverse Daten um die wieder im laufenden ystem einzufügen, meine Idee war ich spiele Das Backup in einen neuen Container und exportiere die Daten.
Das will aber leider nciht so wie ich will

Hallo,
ich habe eine OPNsense als VM auf einem PVE-Host und kann mich vom Heimnetz per VPN dorthin verbinden. Kann man das so bauen, dass man durch die OPNsense auf die Proxmox-Oberfläche kommt? Der Server hat nur eine Netzwerkkarte, aber mehrere öffentliche IPs (von denen eine jetzt auf den Host zeigt und eine auf die virtualisierte OPNsense).
Ich grüble da gerade. Geht das überhaupt?

I have a three server cluster that currently runs our primary application server and will be running additional servers over time. All servers are on the same rack/switch on 10Gbps ports + dedicated Corosync network via dedicated and isolated switch We have HA setup, Veeam running nightly backups, and PBS running hourly backups during business hours. I been able to setup proxmox on a Cisco UCS.
I'm using Shared LOM ports, and on an access switch it's working fine.
Now I want to move the server to a core switch (cisco 4500x) instead.
The configuration is still the same, just like my access switch (cisco C2960x):

I have been trying to convert a HDD volume originally created in ESXi. The volume currently exists on a 1TB external drive attached to the PM server and mapped as a directory. I have converted the original vmdk to the qcow2 format and have been trying to copy it back to the VM ID so I can attach it to the VM, but PX is telling me it ran out of space and can't copy the file!!
This seems to be back to the problem I had earlier today where I was trying to only create VMs on this external...

I have 5 4TB drives in a RAIDZ2 setup. On there I have a single pool, which contains a single 8TB virtual hard drive that goes to vmid 100.
However, since creation Proxmox is saying that the storage is full
Usage 99.07% (11.59 TB of 11.70 TB)
lsblk inside the VM:

When I look at summary and I see total space occupied it would be nice to know what is taking that space. I know that's not an easy task when dedup is reusing some blocks between many backups/vms, but I'm sure there is space for improvements.
Things that I find helpful/informational but are missing:
1. How much space does each VM/CT take. Actual space, not how big the disks are - compressed, excluding sparse. For simplicity deduplication could be ignored here and report the size in each...

ich bin aktuell am überlegen von meiner ESXi Struktur hin zu Proxmox zu wechseln.
Jedoch bin ich mir nicht ganz sicher ob dies überhaupt möglich ist....
Ich habe hier eine Hochverfügbare Struktur mit 2 Storages, 4 SAN Switchen und 4 ESXi-Hosts. Alles zusammen sind via 16GBit/s FibreChannel verbunden.

Let me start by saying, I'm new to proxmox, so idk if im doing something wrong, buti have already forwarded my ports through my router, however no matter what i change it tells me there is no connection, im trying to get a project zomboid server working, and i have tried goign through a vm, directly on proxmox, and directly ony my computer, and my final option was through tailscale. Still no connection, i can clearly connect to the internet with all of these options, i feel like im missing...

Dear friends, I have a question on assembling a Proxmox + CEPH (I am a newbie in Proxmox... but a have experience in use VMWare) cluster with 7 servers. Hi,
I have taken over IT services for a private client, they have two Proxmox servers that the previous supplier installed, however, this supplier are not disclosing the username and password used to login.
The servers are configured with the Proxxox OS on mirrored drives and all other data on separate drives, If I do a clean install of Proxmox on the OS drives will I be able to import the VM's into the new OS in the same way as I could in vmWare or Hyper-V?

Hi All,
I have been experiencing significant performance issues on my Proxmox server, specifically with new VMs. Despite low resource utilization on the host, operations like package updates (apt, dnf, yum) are painfully slow, often running at around 20 KB/s. I have difficultly testing beyond this since installing a simple package takes forever.
I have attached my fio benchmarks, maybe I am missing something?

Hey all, long time Proxmox user, and I've been having networking issues for a few days in new containers that I've made using scripts that spawn LXCs using the pct create command, and I've found the issue is that any container I create from a Debian or Ubuntu template using pct create sets /etc within the container to not be world readable.

Whenever I passthrough any USB device to a VM, C-states stop working and the idle power usage go from 9w to 20w. I experienced it with the BT adapter passthrough in my HAOS VM and RTLSDR v4 with DragonOS VM. Removing these devices from the "hardware" tab restores the power save functionality.
Is this a known issue, and can I fix it somehow? Please let me know if I can provide more info.

Hi all,
I'm having a weird issue with GPU passthrough.
Some facts:
- Proxmox 8.3.0
- Supermicro server with plenty x16 slots (built for GPU)
- 1 integrated gpu for the OS
- 4 x Nvidia 4070 TI Super (blower fan)
- 1 x Nvidia A1000
Now, the passthrough is working fine on 4 of the 5 cards.
Weird enough one of the 4070 cards is working only once when i start the vm.
If the VM shuts down i need to reboot the whole proxmox server to get output on the card.
All other vm's, the 3 other 4070 cards...

I have an issue that I am way over my head on. I am inexperienced with Linux network bridges and I somehow managed to toast my one existing Linux bridge. When I installed my IBM 49Y4241 4-port NIC, it reset my network settings and I had to manually change the /etc/network/interfaces file to get any network back to my proxmox environment.
