disk scsi0 [C:] is file restore error.

VM Custom attributes or tags

In VMware, a VM can have Custom Attributes. Can we do something similar in Proxmox? I want to be able to add one or more tags to a VM, such as customer ID or Date Created and other potential bits of information. And Ideally I'd like to be able to apply those tags via the API.

Can't boot without nomodeset

First I installed pve, then I switched to debian+pve. Asus ROG Zenith Extreme Alpha + Amd RX560. I've been pulling my hairs for 1 full day, tried many different bios options and kernel params. Tried these kernels:

6.1.0-30 good (debian)
6.2.16-9-pve good
6.5.13-6-pve good
6.8.4-2-pve nomodeset
6.8.12-7-pve nomodeset
6.11.11-1-pve nomodeset

I need the gui on this machine. Stuck at kernel 6.5.13-6-pve. How can I get a newer kernel? Any clue?

Good afternoon. I have a production HA setup with shared iscsi. I fear I've misconfigured things and am stuck with the poor performance I'm experiencing.

I have 5 HA hosts. 4 active with guests and #5 for voting only.
- Each is dual port 802.3ad LACP bound 10 GIG MTU 9000
- HA configured iSCSI with then 2x LVM's over the top. The spinning and SSD's below on the qNAP.

I have two nucs (pve0 - a nuc 11 & pve1 - a nuc 10) connected via a thunderbolt 4 cable.

HA Cluster Configuration Issue

Hey
I have 2 nodes + Qdevice cluster configuration

Node 1: 10.0.0.1
Node 2: 10.0.0.2
Qdevice: 10.0.0.3

If Node 1 goes down, machines are not migrating to Node 2
If Node 2 goes down, machines are migrating correctly to node 1.

What I was doing wrong ?

Proxmox VE - install over existing installation

Hi,

I have taken over IT services for a private client, they have two Proxmox servers that the previous supplier installed, however, this supplier are not disclosing the username and password used to login.

The servers are configured with the Proxxox OS on mirrored drives and all other data on separate drives, If I do a clean install of Proxmox on the OS drives will I be able to import the VM's into the new OS in the same way as I could in vmWare or Hyper-V?

issue with usb c hub

I want to plug in this to extend my usb port. I plug an USB dongle bluetooth but I don't see it once I did lsusb.

Proxmox 8.3.2 and Broadcom iSER connections

Hi,
we using Proxmox updated version: 8.3.2 (we did now upgrade from 7.4.x) in env with Broadcom BCM57504 NetXtreme-E 10Gb/25Gb on Dell Server
we using remote iscsi over iser storage and pbs for backups, the problem is that each time we have backup for disks > 100Gb it's stop, Hangs the server and shows the following error: bnxt_en Failed to create HW QP

Hey guys!
Right now, you're my very last resort so far... I'm actually in need for a solution to my problem.

The constellation:
AMD Ryzen 5 3600X CPU
32GB RAM
2x SSD Blades
2x GPUs with PCIe passthrough
2x Windows 10 Virtual Machines

What I do is, that I use one rig with two GPUs passed through to two virtual machines so me and my daughter can game on the very same hardware. That setup worked flawlessly for almost two years now.

Updating to 8.3.3 broke some things

So I went to update my PVE 8.3.2 last night and ran into this issue and I've now hit a wall and would love some assistance. pve-cluster, pve-firewall and pve-fstab stopped responding after rebooting the server after updating to PVE 8.3.3. After trying a few things (apt install --fix-broken, checking /etc/hosts and checking hostname -f. Everything came back well) and I haven't gotten anywhere. I have verified that I have no files in my /etc/pve directory. I have SSH access to proxmox as well...

After I discovered ProxMox I'm moving from VMWare but I'm trying to understand some key concepts of ZFS since my server RAID failed me at least twice corrupting data on my 2 SATA SSD devices on RAID 1. I'm still using hardware RAID for now, but planning to study ZFS before moving from it to use compression and to have more resilience, so I'll not discuss the pros and cons of my current hardware capabilities.

Dear friends, I have a question on assembling a Proxmox + CEPH (I am a newbie in Proxmox... but a have experience in use VMWare) cluster with 7 servers. Pfsense installation not working

Hi,
I have tried to install Pfsense on Proxmox, but it's not even booting up. The installer always stops at bootup and does not move forward. I have changed the BIOS and added an EFi drive, but no luck. I also changed the machine type from Default (i440fx) to q35, but still no success. After adding the EFI drive and setting the BIOS to OVMF (UEFI), the VM will enter the BIOS and nothing else.

The error when BIOS is not UEFI:

Ich hatte ProxmoxVE 8.1-2 zum Testen auf einem Lenovo Server ST250 mit einem RAID-Controller 530-8i installiert - das ging problemlos. Dann habe ich ein Update laufen lassen (auf V. 8.3 via apt-get update && apt-get upgrade), das fehlerfrei durchlief. Nach dem Neustart konnte aber nicht mehr gebootet werden (es konnte wohl die Festplatte - also das RAID - nicht mehr gefunden werden). Daraufhin habe ich versucht, die 8.3 von CD direkt zu installieren -> die Festplatte wird nicht gefunden...

Proxmox VE runs out of space - when copying to a 1TB external drive

I have been trying to convert a HDD volume originally created in ESXi. The volume currently exists on a 1TB external drive attached to the PM server and mapped as a directory. I have converted the original vmdk to the qcow2 format and have been trying to copy it back to the VM ID so I can attach it to the VM, but PX is telling me it ran out of space and can't copy the file!!

This seems to be back to the problem I had earlier today where I was trying to only create VMs on this external...

I premise that I am a novice as far as this proxmox is concerned (and maybe also as far as the network is concerned).
I am trying to configure my proxmox in this way:
- each ct should have its own network (10.10.1.0/24)
- each vm should have its own network (10.10.2.0/24)

The problem? I only have one NIC.

Wireguard Client on Proxmox Guest

Hello,
I have a proxmox server with one static IP Adress, a SDN with a virtual net, dhcp and snat in the range of 192.168.200.0/0. the Client (Windows 11) has Internet connection without a problem. Now I installed wireguard client on Windows 11 and tried to load a config file from my router. This config file works with my notebook, but not in my proxmox guest. I cannot ping the other side and vice versa. I guess some config on the proxmox server is missing. Can anyone help? Thank you.
