Disk usage confusion - There are no machines or backups in use, but still PM reports disk full?

I'm looking for a little assistance with a scenario that has me completely stumped. VERY new to ProxMox and only a moderate user of the Linux system. Installed PM version 8.3.3 and started to try and create some storage. I had a couple of VMs installed and running, but kept finding that I had them located in the wrong place (I have two large external drives attached and want everything spilt between these so that the local drive partitions only get used for running PM). Unable to passthrough HBA card to TrueNas

As the title suggests im attempting to passthrough an HBA card to a TrueNas VM and im not having much luck.

Im new to Linux and Proxmox in general so I could just be doing something glaringly wrong but im unsure how to proceed at this point, I can see all the drives in Proxmox in the web gui and using lsblk, they are all detected and can be accessed individually, when I start the VM the boot fails with:

TASK ERROR: start failed: QEMU exited with code 1.

SAN FC Multipath disk not detected in Proxmox GUI

Hi,

I have installed and configured a 3-node cluster and am using SAN FC LUNs for the storage pool. The LUNs are detected and configured as multipath. However, when I attempt to create a storage pool using LVM, ZFS, or Ceph storage, the multipath disk does not appear in the GUI terminal.

I managed to create the Ceph storage using the CLI, and the shared DiskPool has been created. However, when I try to create, clone, or migrate a VM, I encounter the following error:

Proxmox VE cluster rejoin node

Hello there,
I made a mistake, I joined a single node to a two nodes cluster (this one is in production) but it was the wrong one (single node was without VM's) so I killed it without turning it off. Now the two nodes cluster seems to works fine, then i removed a VM from the custer and now i get an error message during the scheduled backup process ''Can't find the VMXXX''.
It's just an error message but the backup works. I still got the single node without vms and without any kind of mod...

Feature request - storage usage report

When I look at summary and I see total space occupied it would be nice to know what is taking that space. I know that's not an easy task when dedup is reusing some blocks between many backups/vms, but I'm sure there is space for improvements.
Things that I find helpful/informational but are missing:
1. How much space does each VM/CT take. Actual space, not how big the disks are - compressed, excluding sparse. For simplicity deduplication could be ignored here and report the size in each...

Feature request: ability to download single file copy of a backup.

PBS is great. The way it can make differential backups is very nice. However it's a bit scary to have my backups split to blocks and not accessible without PBS.
I know that won't change much, but it would be nice to be able to download a backup of a VM as a *.vma.zst file. This way you can easily make a copy of a vm that's stored out of the PBS for piece of mind. Technically you can go make another backup to different storage, but why do that when you already have a backup job and backups...

Hi all,

I been able to setup proxmox on a Cisco UCS.
I'm using Shared LOM ports, and on an access switch it's working fine.

Now I want to move the server to a core switch (cisco 4500x) instead.
The configuration is still the same, just like my access switch (cisco C2960x):

I'm trying to switch my backup system (based mainly on backupninja and custom scripts) to proxmox-backup-client.
I wrote a small script to run backups, using the repeated --exclude flag not to backup unneeded data.
Comparing the size of previously backed-up data, I see a big discrepancy of backup size, so my question is: how are the --exclude flags treated, globally or per path/pxar file?
E.g. if I want to backup /etc and /root into 2 different archives, and I add the --exclude foo...

OpenID 401 with Azure AD

Hello,
I recently upgraded to Proxmox VE 7.1-10 and am now receiving a 401 error when authenticating with Azure AD OpenID:

I am redirected to Microsoft and the Azure AD logs state that the authentication was successful. However, I cannot log in. This seems to be restricted to Azure AD as I have another instance using Keycloak and I can log in fine. I can only see the following line in /var/log/syslog:

Hello!

I’ve done several searches, and I must admit I’m completely lost. I would like to do the following:

  • When I’m on a page of an external website (site.fr), API requests should be sent to my Proxmox.
  • The requests sent should allow me to retrieve the console of a container (or a virtual machine) on site.fr.

No display after installation 8.3

Hello, I had proxmox VE working on a mini pc. Had it installed on one of the nvme disks. I had to make changes to whole home network and server setup so decided to go for a fresh new installation of Proxmox VE on the same device. installation was quick, however I get no display after reboot. I tried 3-4 times. I get the same outcome. I wonder what I must be doing wrong?

Any suggestions? what all can I debug?

VM Breaks when removing HBA from System

Hi,

I have PVE environment running 2 VMs, Ubuntu and TrueNAS scale. The Scale VM had a LSI HBA passed through to it. I have since moved my disks over to the onboard SATA controller, so removed the HBA from the system and unmapped it, but the VM will no longer boot, and gives an "Internal Error".

Behaviour is:
  1. No HBA installed - internal error
  2. LSI HBA installed and passed through - VM Boots
  3. Replacing HBA with an AsMedia SATA HBA - internal error

ich habe erst kürzlich proxmox installiert und beschäftige mich damit. Ich bin zwar durchaus IT-affin, aber sowas gab es "damals" noch nicht ... also alles Neuland.

PVE 8.3.2 - Web Interface reagiert nicht

Hallo,
vor ein paar Tagen habe ich PVE 8.3.2 auf einem Fujitsu Esprimo installiert und musste feststellen das kurz nach dem Start des Srevers das Web Interface nicht mehr reagiert. Änlich sieht es mit einer SSH Sitzung aus - falls bereits geöffnet reagiert auch die dann nicht mehr bzw. sie lässt sich gar nicht erst öffnen.
Einziger Ausweg: Ein permanent laufender Ping auf den Proxmox Server (IP ...141). Dann reagieren Web Interface und/oder SSH Sitzung nach kurzer Zeit wieder bzw. werden gar...

I have a new installation of Proxmox VE 8.3.3 and am using two external Drives for VM storage and backups etc.

When I create a new VM, I start by highlighting the storage device I want PM to use when creating this machine. I make sure that the storage device I want to use is picked in the 'Disks' section. I am expecting the VM to exists on the external drive and run from there, but that's not what seems to be happening.

I just recently built a windows 2016 box for testing but I cannot pass ctrl-alt-del to it to login.. I have no option screen on my console to do this.. What's missing?
