So the guy who setup Proxmox VE V7.4-16 on a Dell 720 has left the company and the sda3 pve-root has run out of space.
I am visually challenged and a Proxmox noob ut have some Rehat / Centos and limitied Devian exposure.
I've muddled my way through a number of posts on how this is done live and from what I can see this is similar to a Redhat 7 server that I successfully extended the root partition while live. There are however some differences between the Redhat and Proxmox VE environments...

Hallo Proxmox-Freaks,
ich möchte 4 NVMEs einer VM hinzufügen bzw. durchreichen, alle 4 SSDs haben aber die gleiche ID bzw. Seriennummer. Die 4 sind in einem DAS-Gehäuse, welches per USB 3.2 Gen. 2 angeschlossen an meinen Proxmox angeschlossen ist.
Bisher gelingt das nicht zufriedenstellend, den in der VM werden nur 3 angezeigt. Bei HDDs funktioniert es, da sie verschiedene Seriennummern haben (es sollen später noch 3 HDDs mit angeschlossen werden.).

Container mount permissions

Hi.

I have followed the guide i found linked for mounting existing zfs storage and i can see my folder structure inside navigator but i am unable to see any of the existing folder contents.

I can create and delete new folders/files i just cannot see the existing stuff.

Hi
try to assign more granular rights via the config-> access control and not do everything with the root account.

I previously had this issue that turned out to be a bug ( https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/permissons-not-working-for-network-settings.147899 )

Now I am trying to have the user able to run updates via the webui.
Upgrade is currently greyed out for non-root users on PVE and on PBS.
(access set to admin on /)

VLAN passthrough

I have been searching the forums and finding lots of articles asking something similar to what I am about to ask, but terminology is so different coming from ESXi that I am not understanding exactly what I need to do. In ESXi, I can create a vswitch and set the VLAN to a special vlan of 4095 which tells ESXi not to touch vlan tags at all and pass them through completely unmodified.

Hello,
I am having problems with my Proxmox VE setup. I am trying to setup PCIe passthrough by following the wiki but I am stuck at 'Kernel modules'. When running update-initramfs -u -k all, I am getting this output:

Poor samba performence in Debian Guest in Proxmox?

Hi,
I use Proxmox 8.1.3 and installed as a guest Debian and Window Server.

I use Debian as File Server. But unfortuntely it has poor speed performance. I need to know the reason;

1- From Samba Server?
2- From my network cable, switch etc. speed/problem?
3- From Proxmox network adapter?

But I check everything is good in Proxmox summary screen all is fine.

Can you advice me about controling of this speed problem with Samba?

Random system freeze on PN51-E1

Hi, recently I got myself an ASUS PN51-E1 (Ryzen 7 5700U) as a upgrade for my homelab.
Migration went quite smoothly, however, I'm experiencing random kernal panic.
I've managed to setup kdump, and finally captured some error log.
Hope someone can help me shed some light on this issue, thanks.

Hello!

I'm a total and complete newb on Proxmox, heck, using this has made me realized even the things I thought I knew, well, I don't. At all. I've created a Proxmox VE that lives atop Debian 12 on an Intel NUC for hosting a few LXCs for a Home Server using mostly ttecks's scripts, (for now, all of them).

I'm not sure where I went wrong or what I have misconfigured, I would like to be able to take snapshots of my LXCs and VMs but I run into the message.

I have a pretty basic need, for a small business I own. Basically one VM that I need to run, and in essence I want HA, in the sense that if the node fails, it's taken over by another proxmox server. I'd prefer it to used shared storage ZFS, and I have this running in lab right now. I've stayed away from CEPH mainly because of the infrsatructure requirements. My actual stored data is around 100GB, and it won't grow.

I'd prefer not to do replication. With that requirement, what are opinions...

Why my debian VM is sometimes off?

Hi everybody!

I have a PVE HPE on Proliant 360DL Gen 10 with 16 cores (Intel(R) Xeon(R) Silver 4110 CPU @ 2.10GHz) and RAM 128 Go. It runs 6 VM (3 debian, 2 W10, 1 Windows Serveur 2016) and sometimes 1 or 2 VM is off (I don't shutdown the VM). Since I upgrade to PVE 8.2.4 one week ago, just one VM is sometimes off (debian VM) and I don't understand why.

I think it could be lan-shutdown so I would know if I can know the time when this VM is shutdown.
Could it be a RAM issue ?

On PVE version 8.1.3.

I have restarted and the NIC is showing active link lights but not being detected by proxmox.

Hi,
I have 512 GB ram and Intel Xeon Silver 4314 16C 135W 2.4GHz Processor CPU.

I have one Debian Linux as file server and one Win2024 server as SAP B1 and MSSQL server.

How can I share resources according to my guests and proxmox for fast working?

Issue: Unable to Separate GPU Devices into Different IOMMU Groups

Hello all,

I am facing an issue with my Proxmox setup where my GPU devices remain in the same IOMMU group due to hardware bifurcation on the motherboard. This prevents me from isolating them properly for use in different VMs.

System Details:​

I'm getting ready to upgrade to version 8 starting with my backup server first. I'm installing from the ISO. I get the expected window where I'm selecting the top Install Proxmox option.
