Proxmox 8.2 install not recognizing eth - please recommend a chipset

So I have an N100 based mini PC with RTL8168 which is not recognized by Proxmox. After searching I found out that the issue will probably be resolved by kernel 6.10 (whenever). With some tinkering, proper drivers can be installed (answer in threads here) but I need internet for that, so I will need an USB to Ethernet stick temporarily.
Can you recommend an eth chipset that's hassle free for this purpose? I have seen AX88179 and RTL8153 on sticks available to me, but again searches here...

IO delay troubleshooting

I am running a small cluster (3 x AMD EPYC 7313P, 448GB RAM, 10 x PCI 4.0 Enterprise NVMe drives in a RAIDZ2-0 array with PVE 8.2.3) with all three nodes set up using 2 bonded 10Gbps fiber connections for migrations and admin.

I am running into an issue where one of the three nodes is intermittently running really high IO Delay numbers (30-50% at times) while the two identical servers running the same load have an IO Delay of 0.03% pretty much all the time. I am pretty sure it isn't...

Ceph dashboard performance data (Prometheus etc)

Hi

Installing the dashboard on our lab cluster was very simple. But it doesn't show any of the performance or monitoring data I was looking for. The Ceph documentation says to just enable it with cephadm but that's obviously a bad idea on a PVE orchestrated ceph cluster.

So is there a PVE friendly way to install and configure the Prometheus and Grafana components that'd be setup automatically if deploying via cephadm?

Hi forum members,

We want to build a 3-node proxmox cluster with ceph. Ceph drives will be 3.2TB x3 NVMe SSDs on each node. Among them 3 NVMe would be for ceph. Rest 2 will be in RAID-1 mode for Database server.

Additionally, 240GB x2 SSD would be for Operating System.

We have tried to communicate several vendors of Supermicro in India, but they are providing a solution where either we need to put all 5 NVMe ssds in HBA mode or in RAID mode.

wir sind aktuell in Kontakt mit Pure Storage bzgl. einer PVE Storage Integration (Storage Plugin), da wir bei uns ein Pure FlashArray in Verwendung haben und die Überlegung aufkam, dass aktuelle Hyper V Cluster auf Proxmox umzustellen.
Da leider aufgrund der Storage-Anbindung per Fiber Channel bzw. iSCSI in diesem Fall keine Snapshots möglich wären, haben wir uns an Pure gewandt um evtl. eine Unterstützung in Form eines Plugins zu erhalten/ermöglichen.

Intel vPro/AMT ip not reachable

I am at my wits end trying to get vpro working which is fairly common after all the forums I have scoured seeing a solution. I have tried every setup configuration I have been able to find and just cannot get the ip to be accessible. Vpro set to dhcp, static, various configs enabled/disabled, local windows pc and proxmox firewalls disables, and more.

Pings to the ip result in:

CPU bug on raid1

I recently got a R730 Dell PowerEdge and a PCiE dual M.2 card for my boot drive for RAID1.
I used clover as the bootloader to get proxmox to boot since by default the R730 isn't able to boot from PCiE storage devices.
The installation process went fine, but when I booted into the server, I get this message:

OPNsense als VM - Zugriff auf PVE-Host

Hallo,

ich habe eine OPNsense als VM auf einem PVE-Host und kann mich vom Heimnetz per VPN dorthin verbinden. Kann man das so bauen, dass man durch die OPNsense auf die Proxmox-Oberfläche kommt? Der Server hat nur eine Netzwerkkarte, aber mehrere öffentliche IPs (von denen eine jetzt auf den Host zeigt und eine auf die virtualisierte OPNsense).

Ich grüble da gerade. Geht das überhaupt?

I am waiting to receive a mini PC with four 2.5-gigabit ports, which will replace the one I currently have with two 1-gigabit ports.

I use the mini PC to virtualize a Sophos firewall. Currently, I have the first port configured as a Linux Bridge (vmbr1) + Network Device (enp3s0) for the WAN, and the second port as a Linux Bridge (vmbr0) + Network Device (enp2s0) for the LAN with IP 192.168.3.7/24.

On the new mini PC, I want to reserve one of the ports for the WAN and the other...

Proxmox Backups causing data loss with regards to partitions

For more times than I can count now, across about a half dozen VMs over the course of several months, I have experienced partition table losses due to Proxmox backups. I have to boot the VM with a partition recovery tool (easeUS), do a scan, it always finds the partitions, thankfully, then recover them. Then I have to do a whole thing of repairing the Windows install to get it to boot correctly again (the drive letters and active partitions get messed up).

A few days ago, my Proxmox Backup Server filled up in the root folder. I managed to delete some large log files then and get functional.
Last night during a remote sync it filled up and my job failed.
Could somebody please help me diagnose the issue?

Hallo in die Runde,

hab ein Problem mit der Zustellung an googlemail.de über den pmg mit einem time out.

Mails an googlemail.com werden problemlos zugestellt. Relay und Versand über pmg funktioniert ansonsten auch mit allen anderen E-Mails problemlos.

What are the rights a pve user needs, to upload an iso file to the storage local

I assume that there need to be a specific permission on the user or group, What permissions should that be?

script to shutdown VM on power button press

Hi. I use Mac vm (no guest agent).
My idea is that when I press power button proxmox could send shutdown command to OSX via ssh.
This would should allow to close mac vm gracefully.
I am not sure what is happening now, but I have a feeling that mac simply sees it as yanking the cable off the mains.

any ideas?

Hello,

Every few days or hours my proxmox device crashes. Everytime I reboot the system it works for a while. I never had it connected to a monitor so I could never see any errors, until today. Today it crashed again and i got the follow errors:

The OS is installed on a M.2 from Lexar NM710 1TB M.2 SSD I bought brand new a few months back...
After this error, i'm unable to input "reboot" only "exit" it doesn't do anything after that!

Single Server Proxmox Internet settings

Hi,

I have a single Server Dell PowerEdge R730 on which I had setup Proxmox.
Now the installation is done I am getting the login prompt.
But to take the graphical access I need to setup a desktop Environment ( Please let me know if any other option)

Now the issue Is I am not able to connect to the internet.
