Hallo,

ich habe am Hostsystem (Minisforum HM90) eine Eaton USV via USB angebunden. Diese wird nach Eingabe von "lsusb" auf der Konsole auch wunderbar angezeigt.
Wenn die USV an eine VM mit aktuellem Debian durchreiche wird diese erkannt und alles ist chick.... ABER

Nach einer gewissen Zeit jedoch verliert die Maschine das USB Gerät und es ist auch unter "lsusb" nicht mehr aufgeführt.
Dabei ist es egal, ob ich den Port oder das Device in die VM durchreiche- der Effekt ist der gleiche.

I am building my first proxmox server for a client and he wants to go down the custom build using standard pc parts not server hardware.

I have come up with the following specs - anything pop out that maybe a problem? help is much appreciated. (missing a cooler / case i know

Its going to be used for about 10 windows 10 / 11 vm's to run some backup software or python scripts for moving data around the network, nothing heavy.

After a fully working proxmox server on a old pc I created a new proxmox server on better hardware.

Most of the node is working, but I have two questions remaining.

First Question:

I mounted an existing (shucked USB Western Digital drive with NTFS format) with:

After which I am able to see all files on the disk.

However, after a reboot I need to remount the drive. But as I've read I can also use fstab in order to make the mount more permanent.

I have manipulated two files from the Proxmox web frontend to include the temperature of my CPU.
Unfortunately, I have messed up something but I don't know where exactly. And I forgot to create a backup of the files as well.

Therefore I ask kindly, If someone could send me this two files?
So I can copy the them in again and restore the dashboard to default.

I have a problem when starting the machine, in the installation it was working and I was doing things with the machine, I turned it off and on a different day and the bridge port does not come out I am not able to lift it or make it take any ip just tells me “segmentation fault” when I try to do anything.

My work automating Proxmox with the bpg/promox Terraform provider is going well. I had been provisioning LXC containers and it looks like they/Proxmox does not support boot-time config of them via cloud-init, correct? In fact, I can't find anything in the provider for configuring them at all (ex: execute a script).

If that is the case I suppose I will have to pivot to VMs for almost all of my workloads. Which is a bit disappointing in terms of anticipated resource consumption.

Can I get an affirm on this? Proxmox does not support cloud-init for LXC containers, correct? I'm looking at the API docs and they seem to suggest as much as the endpoints and parameters available on the QEMU VM API are not reflected on the container endpoints.

Also, I did some digging into hook scripts as possible alternative. The docs are a bit thin on this feature but it looks to me like hook scripts execute on the Proxmox server for various lifecycle events for both...

ich habe ein eigenartiges Verhalten von Cronjobs die auf einer Debian VM laufen festgestellt. Ich habe keine Erklärung und bitte um Hilfe.

Der Cronjob soll alle 10 Minuten laufen und ein Python Script(DSL Speedtest, Ergebnisse in csv-Datei schreiben) aufrufen.
Mit dem Eintrag */10 * * * * python3 ordnerpythonscript/pythonscript.py in der crontab wird der Cronjob zwar alle 10 Minuten ausgeführt, allerdings nicht zur vollen bzw. halben Stunde.
D.h. um xx:10, xx:20,xx:40,xx:50 läuft...

I tried to install PVE 8.2 on new build system. It is build with AMD RYzen 5 4500, Gigabyte A520 DS3H V2 with BIOS FEb, 3*34 GB Kingsten DDR4-3200, WD Black SN850X with 2TB, nividia Geforce GT730-4H-SL2GBD5 and a 16 TB HDD.
Memtest shows no errors.

I'm trying to setup a monitoring stack for multiple PVEs (~25ish client) using InfluxDB2 and Grafana.
So far I've managed to gather data from a test PVE (192.168.200.100) to a local InfluxDB server (192.168.200.160) using HTTP and visualize them using Grafana.

I had a cluster of 3 proxmox servers and added a 4th, however each time i try i can barely login to the GUI and they barely connect to each other.
3 of them have existing VMs i cannot simply delete. Is there a way to delete the cluster and start again without losing the VMs? I remember that in order to join a cluster the host needs to have no VMs, is there a way around this?

I have Proxmox Mini PC connected directly to a dedicated NIC on a pfsense (also Mini PC with 6 NICs).

Proxmox is running on LAN2 (192.168.5.0/24)
LAN is 192.168.1.0/24

I don't understand why the Ubuntu VM is getting IP from 192.168.1.0/24 instead of 192.168.5.0/24

64 GB DDR4 ECC
4 x 16 TB HDD 7200

We‘re running pve and pbs as VM with a sw raid-5. Additionally we have another VM with some NAS stuff on same node (not that much IO). We‘re backup about 35-40 VMs from 5 different nodes. Used backup space is about 6 TB in pbs but will grow in future.
