ceph balancer mode upmap-read

Hi,

I am not happy with current ceph balancer as there is too big difference in number of PG per OSDs.
I would like to try upmap-read but all clients must be reef, however they are luminous.

Why Proxmox use luminous clients for reef ceph? Can I change it to reef and activate upmap-read balancer?

Segmentation fault

I have a problem when starting the machine, in the installation it was working and I was doing things with the machine, I turned it off and on a different day and the bridge port does not come out I am not able to lift it or make it take any ip just tells me “segmentation fault” when I try to do anything.

Identify VM with most used backup space

Dear proxmox team,
I've recently deployed a proxmox node together with a proxmox backup server. Since the backup server is shared with another administrator, I decided to encrypt my backups to keep them from being tampered with, if one of us is being compromised. Even though we have about 15x the storage on the backup server than used in deployment, the main datatore went out of space in mere months.

Now it is up to us to find the culprit hosts, which are not deduplicated or pushing too...

Ist es möglich PBS mit AWS S3 Blockspeicher zu betreiben?

Wir würden gerne eine bestehende Windows Hyper-V Umgebung mit Veeam Backup & Replication gegen Proxmox VE und PBS ersetzen.

Wir benötigen aber eine vernünftige Möglichkeit die VMs (09 TB) Offsite zusichern.

Wir nutzen jetzt aktuelle Veeam B&R 12.1 mit einer Anbindung an AWS S3 und das klappt super.

Es wäre toll wenn es eine ähnliche Lösung für PBS gäbe.

Memory leak

Hi all,

Was wonderign if anyone can help me troubleshoot why one of my VMs keeps maxxing out its ram consumption.

Upon restart everything works wonderful.

After a few hours I come back to find it with a massive spike and unable to recover. following a reboot again.

VM is Open media vault.iso

Config below.

Rendimiento en Proxmox/ Leistung auf Proxmox

Grüße, ich habe proxmox in einer Produktionsumgebung auf Leistungsprobleme in einer VM mit SQL Server überprüft und beim Ausführen von pveperf auf dem Speicher werden mir die folgenden Werte angezeigt:

Ich verstehe den Wert (REGEX/SECOND) nicht, soweit ich weiß, muss dieser Wert größer als 300.000 sein. Kann mir jemand sagen, ob leistungstechnisch alles in Ordnung ist?

In my homelab i am going to build all in one node: proxmox, truenas on vm, and kubernetes cluster of 3 vm.

As any sense to installe proxmox backup server as vm inside proxmox (using true nas share)?
In a
I alternative do you have other backup strategy to suggest me?

Extremely Slow Download of Updates

While doing now the usual Proxmox VE updates in shell, I'm getting extremely low download rates. Example:

It eventually cuts out completely.

This has never happened...

Undo Secure Boot setup - Cannot boot from anything else

Hi,
I've followed the instructions in this guide to setup a secure boot:
https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Secure_Boot_Setup
(followed the Setup instructions for db key variant)

And while the secure boot works correctly, I cannot boot from anything else but the custom shim I've created from the instructions.
Also, cannot boot from a USB drive.

Getting this message on boot: "Invalid signature detected check secure boot policy in setup"

Tried mokutil --disable-validation and...

Problem with one VM network

Hello there,

I found a very strange problem with one VM.

I run a standalone Proxmox with 3 VM (home server)

1. OPNSense Firewall
2. Home Assistant
3. Alpine linux VM , i use it a docker host

My problem is 3. VM, it unexpectedly i move file only one way (read it) but can not able to copy any new file. I try lot protocolls, for example cifs, sftp, scp, web upload (i run a file browser )

Other devices are same subnet so no any firewall rules or something. On alpine, no firewall...

proxmox-boot-tool: convert systemd to legacy boot?

Hi,

I needed to replace the hardware of a cluster node. The old node was using proxmox-boot-tool (systemd boot, no secure boot) and ZFS for the root filesystem. The "new" hardware only supports legacy boot. I would prefer to reuse the old disks without reinstalling PVE. Did someone already tried this and could explain how to do this or do I need to do a fresh installation using proxmox-boot-tool (grub) and add it as a new cluster node?

Datasets sind vollgelaufen - Snapshot Tasks

Hi,

ich dachte das wäre nun alles erledigt und alles läuft ohne Probleme. Aber die Snapshot Tasks haben nun mein "Pool" auf 90% volllaufen lassen. Ohne Snapshot liegt es bei 60%, da Nextcloud Data sich ja 1TB reserviert, weil ich so viel Cloud Storage bei der Installation angegeben habe. Und Nextcloud System hat irgendwie 100GB. Keine Ahnung warum so viel... aber nicht so wichtig.

Nun habe ich neue Tasks erstellt, damit alles nicht so voll läuft. Dazu habe ich als erstes einen Replication...

Proxmox constantly crashes after few mins

Edit: My problem was faulty ram sticks.

So I recently installed the latest version of proxmox with ZFS raid 1 on a new machine with the following specs:
  • Mobo: MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk Max Wifi
  • Cpu: AMD RYZEN 7 5700X
  • Cpu Fan: Noctua NH-D9L
  • Ram: HYPERX Fury 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 2400MHz
  • Gpu: Nivida Gtx 1030
  • Storage: SanDisk SSD PLUS 240GB
  • 2nd Storage: Western Digital 240GB WD Green Internal SSD
  • Psu: EVGA 650 BP, 80+ BRONZE 650W
However, every time I boot up...

Hello,

I am sure there is something that I am misunderstanding, but here is an issue I am having and don't know what the solution is. I have been troubleshooting for days now.

Windows Server 2019 Proxmox VM - 192.168.0.10
Ubuntu SMB-Share Container - 192.168.0.3
Proxmox Host - 192.168.0.2

The two VMs are on a bridge configured as follows:

Hello,
I have a pve 8.1.4 setup with 2x Nvidia L40s cards in it, as a well as a pair of VMs with Windows 11 installed.

Host and guests drivers as well as as the DLS server setup works well. I can confirm the vGPUs work and can be used in the guest VMs.

Best practice für pools

Hallo zusammen,

werde meinen server komplett neu aufsetzen.
Folgende Anwendungsfälle habe ich bisher angedacht:
  • Proxmox auf 2 x 240gb SSD (ZRAID1)
  • VM Container auf 2 x TB SSD:
    Hier nen LVN Thin benutzen? Möchte auch Snapshots für LXC container machen können.
  • Spezielle Daten, auf die möglichst schnell zugegriffen werden soll, auf eine einzelne 2TB SSH
  • Backups auf 2 x HDD (ZRAID1)
  • Allgemeine...

What storage to use in my homelab setup?

Hi folks,
I would be interested into your opinion.

I am running single node of Proxmox on my UMAX N10 Pro mini PC. It is all-in-one PC with just 256GB SSD. As external storage I am using Synology DS120j I have for years
I am wondering what would be your suggestions for storage if I want improve the current one.

To buy NAS, like Synology e.g. with 4 bays seems for me as waste of money, when looking only on empty Synology NAS.
I am not sure what are my other options - if there is anything...

account for remote sync?

I don't seem to be able to use a secondary account to establish PBS Remote Sync partners.
If I use root@pam to setup the Remote, it can see the remote datastore.
If I use anything else, even if its given full admin at /, I can setup the Remote relationship.
No errors, I see it registered in the GUI but I when I go to build a sync job, I can't see the source (Remote) datastore.

What's the deal here? Does this require some sort of federated login? Am I just doing it wrong?
