Broadcom NICs down after PVE 8.2 (Kernel 6.8)

We had some issues with some broadcom nics going down after update to 6.8

Workaround: NICs go up if you do a service networking restart
FIX: Update Broadcom Firmware to latest firmware and blacklist their "beautiful" infiniband-driver

This will update ALL YOUR Broadcom-Network Cards to their latest firmware (live) (but reboot needed after it):

apt install unzip

PCIe Passthrough NVMe Drive Causes Proxmox to Crash - Using Bifurcation Card

Hello,

I am attempting to pass through 2 NVMe drives to two different VMs. They are on an Asus bifurcation card with a total of 4 m.2 slots, all of which are populated. My BIOS has the PCIe slot set to x4x4x4x4 and all of the drives are seen correctly in Proxmox. Hardware is listed at the bottom.

The Issue:
Proxmox crashes every time I reboot the VM running EndeavourOS with one of the NVMe drives passed through.

What I've Tried:

Hello, i wanted to customize a little bit my shell terminal of my proxmox.

I install oh my zsh and PowerLevel10k and use the JetBrainsMonoMedium Nerd Font Mono, but in the shell of proxmox now it's broken and I wanted to know how I can change the font of a term to use the Jetbrain one.

Issues with nVidia vGPU since upgrading to kernel 6.5.13-5-pve

Since upgrading from 6.5.13-3-pve to 6.5.13-5-pve I've noticed the issues with my VMs that I have my GTX1660Ti passedthrough to as a vGPU.

I run Plex in a Docker container within a Ubuntu 22.04.4 VM. When I start a media file that requires hardware transcoding within Windows, it makes several attempts to start the GPU process. Windows 10 doesn't accept VirtIO SCSI driver

Hi,

I try to install Windows 10 in a Proxmox VM. I followed many tutorials, but I can't get the same results.

During the setup of Windows, I select the driver from the VirtIO WiN ISO, but Windows cant get past this screen:Windows 10 VirtIO error.jpg
"No New devices drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and click OK."
I have this result with any driver I select on the VirtIO ISO.

Does somebody knows how to resolve this?

Hi. I finally bought one for my NAS server but I can't activate IOMMU for passthrough. Company claim that IOMMU and AMD-VT activated by default. In bios firmware there are no such option(or may bi. But all manipulation with Grub that I do with previous mb with Ryzen and Proxmox 8.1 don't work.

May be someone completed this quest or have fresher firmware. I have version from May 07, 2024.

Can't edit any options (guests, pve etc)

New 8.2.4 install.

I can't edit any options in the web interface. For example, I forgot to turn on "start at boot" for one of the guests but I can't edit it.
All edit buttons etc are greyed out.

I think my user isn't privileged, but I am using the unconstrained root@pam user?!

Any ideas?

Bulk shutdown after start - Hardware change

Been running Proxmox without a hitch for ½ year, changed the mobo , psu and cpu. after changing the adapter name everything seems to run smoothe until I start a VM. after about 30 secs. Proxmox iniates a bulk shutdown and powers off. Some1 knows what this is about?

Testing VM Updates Before Deploying

I have a couple of VMs with a few terabytes of data on them. I'd like to test out updates to those VMs before deploying them on the live VM. Before today I thought I could use linked-clones. However, I've learned that Proxmox can only create a linked clone of a VM template. I realized that I could clone the entire VM, however, I'd like to avoid the time and space needed to copy all of the data.

What work flow do you use to test out VM updates before deploying them?

Custom kernel doesn't boot on proxmox

I have built a 6.10 kernel using clang (with .config from generic ubuntu) on Ubuntu 24.04. I am able to run it on Ubuntu but not on Proxmox.
On Proxmox, I get following error:

Alert! /dev/mapper/pve-root does not exist. Dropping to shell

Running lvm pvscan returns nothin, and adding rootdelay=10 to grub also didn't help.
I was trying to re-generate the initrd image for this kernel on Proxmox but the same problem still exists.
I was also trying to build custom kernel directly...

Ich bin ein ProxMox-Neuling und habe ProxMox 8.2.4 installiert. Darauf läuft in einer vm ein ubuntu-server. Auf die Instanz kann ich per ssh zugreifen, aber die Applikationen auf dem Server sind alle nicht mehr erreichbar. Wie auch immer, wahrscheinlich habe ich den Server falsch aufgesetzt. Beim einloggen per ssh kommt folgende Fehlermeldung: No Space left on device. Unter „Hardware“ habe ich den Plattenplatz schon vergrößert, das hat aber keine Auswirkungen.

Der Befehl df -h bringt...

Cant boot Proxmox after adding new drives

I added 2 new drives to my HPE Proliant ML350 Gen9 Server running proxmox and i cant seem to connect to the Webui anymore, the server itself gives multiple errors when booting into proxmox but it does boot and doesnt go into recovery mode.

The errors when booting are:
[FAILED] Failed to start dbus.service - D-Bus System Message Bus.

Hello everyone.
I'll try to be as breif as possible. I'm really sorry if i'm creating a thread for an old and well-discussed issue.
First and foremost, I'm new to Proxmox and Linux environments. It's a single-node homelab made of a Ryzen 3 CPU + A320 chipset, (i know it isn't recommended at all).

I've succesfully installed it, but i'm experiencing the well-known issue with Realtek ethernet controllers: randomly loosing network connection.

Hardware spec

Hi

I am building my first proxmox server for a client and he wants to go down the custom build using standard pc parts not server hardware.

I have come up with the following specs - anything pop out that maybe a problem? help is much appreciated. (missing a cooler / case i know :) )

Its going to be used for about 10 windows 10 / 11 vm's to run some backup software or python scripts for moving data around the network, nothing heavy.
