Hello everyone :)

I recently upgraded to Proxmox VE 8.2.2 running kernel 6.8.4-2-pve (having a Subscription active). I have experienced 2 seemingly random host crashes/freezes since the upgrade where the Proxmox host became completely unresponsive, but I was unable to determine the cause at the time, especially since it happened at night without any load.

However, I have now found a reproducible way to trigger the crash. The host consistently crashes when attempting to install Ubuntu...

Newly installed Proxmox VE boots into grub terminal

Hello, I'm quite new to Proxmox VE, but I've got it up and running just fine before, but randomly after a reboot (swapped some pc parts, deleted some -OLD disk in the Proxmox GUI) it booted into the grub menu, I got it back up and running by typing the following command in grub:

set prefix=(lvm/pve-root)/boot/grub
normal

Is there any way this could happen automatically on startup? I dont really understand why this has to be done and I must have done something wrong along the way, but...

Hallo Allerseits,
ich habe die Tage erfolgreich einen 3 Node Cluster von oVIrt nach proxmox migriert. Aktuell nutze ich lokale ZFS Pools und repliziere die VMs auf alle Nodes. Für Backups, ISOs und vielleicht auch mal größere VM images habe ich NFS Shares eingebunden.

oVirt war bei NFS immer sehr empfindlich, wenn ich mal das NAS wegen Updates neu starten musste, hat das gleich Alarm geschlagen. Deshalb hatte ich mir für dort start und stop Scripte geschrieben, die in oVirt den NFS Mount in...

I tried to install Windows 10 ent with virtio driver on hdd and network, but encountered a problem: the installer does not pick up the latest drivers from loosely.
I tried to choose virtio driver for win7/win8/win8.1/win10.

I performed latest kernel update this morning for proxmox host, and went for host restart, now i ended up having this problem during BIOS boot up and the system shutdown immediately after this. i have secure boot enabled and what will happen if i reset secure boot? will it stop my system for booting? any advise?

Sudden Bulk stop of all VMs ?

Hi

Every so often, all of a sudden, all guest VMs terminate. Can you please help me troubleshoot why that happens?

I see Bulk start VMs and Containers in the log:

dmesg has the proxmox host has normal start-up messages. Nothing for why the VMs were terminated.

All VMs are running Windows 11.

Should I be looking anywhere else for logs?

Even though I can independently login to each node, when I try to do any thing it can't find it.

1. time in sync
2. pvecm updatecerts -force

(re)generate node files
generate new node certificate
got timeout when trying to ensure cluster certificates and base file hierarchy is set up - no quorum (yet) or hung pmxcfs?

I'm trying to migrate a VM to a different proxmox server.

Hallo,

ich rüste gerade mein Homelab auf und dabei wird mein alter Proxmox Server Marke eigenbau gegen ein HP Proliant DL160 Gen9 getauscht.

Da ich mir vor Jahren einen MikroTik CSS326-24G-2S angeschafft habe, wollte ich den HP DL160 mit SFP+ an denn MikroTik Switch anbinden.

Ich habe mir für denn HP DL160 eine HP Karte (eine Mellanox ConnectX-3 Pro HP Brand) besorgt und eingebaut, dazu noch ein DAC-Kabel von FS.

Live migrate fails to resume.

Most of our guests will fail to resume when being live-migrated from one node to another. This seems to happen on all guests, however; a newly created guest will not initially have the problem but after an unknown amount of time; the problem will surface. The error we see is "tunnel replied 'ERR: resume failed - VM XXX qmp command 'query-status' failed - got timeout' to command 'resume XXX'". we tried to set up an ESXi storage to move a few VMs from vmware to pve.

Setting up the storage failed three times (timeout). When I looked more closely to my PVE host, I discovered that it has three fuse mounts in `/var/run/pve/import/esxi`:

Unable to access internet

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting here and I'm pretty new to Proxmox and networking. I had setup two Proxmox servers on two mini PCs and everything was working fine. However, something went wrong with my UDM Pro router which caused a number of issues including no longer being able to access my Proxmox servers via their local IP or by the internet. Proxmox and OPNsense - Network speed issue

Hi everybody,

After some research on the web, I think there's no solution with OPNsense but I ask you because perhaps I've missed something.

My config :
  • Proxmox 7 (Debian 11)
  • OPNsense 21.7
  • Virtio network card (queue 8)
  • More than 1Gb/s web connexion
I'll do some speed test in different conditions and the results are that with OPNsense speed is very bad :

Replication hangs before freeze guest filesystem

Hi,

i've two systems running in replication. Occasionally (about once or twice per day) the replication hangs at one vm.
The log ony shows the following:

2024-06-23 15:02:00 105-0: start replication job
2024-06-23 15:02:00 105-0: guest => VM 105, running => 2066997
2024-06-23 15:02:00 105-0: volumes => nvme:vm-105-disk-0,sata:vm-105-disk-0,sata:vm-105-disk-2

It then usually hangs there for an hour. Restarting pvescheduler fixes the Problem.

Anybody has an idea why it doenst freeze the...

PVE datacenter change join ip address

Hi there, I want change join ip address in cluster but i don't have any idea how to do this.
I'm tried to change ip / joiniformation with this steps:
1. was added failover link to cluster with needed ip in /etc/pve/corosync.conf
2. was changed /etc/hosts
3. added bridge with ip /etc/network/interfaces
after that was regenerated certificates with pvecm updatecerts -f on master node and in finally I'm tried to recreate ssh connection certificates.

Memory leakage of one of my cluster nodes

I have a cluster of 3 machines, of which 2 are somewhat identical. All running pve-manager/8.2.4/faa83925c9641325
The one that has no VMs running actively on it, has a memory usage of approx 50%.
Whereas the other one with 2 VMs, has approx 18%.
Something is clearly wrong but don't know how to find out.
