Transfer Backups from PVE to PBS

Hello!

i got a few backups on my local backup storage on my PVE server. Is there a way to move and migrate them to a new PBS?
Do i have to transform the format of my backups? My current ones are all using vma / vma.lzo and as far as i know does the BS use a different format (meaning the .fidx and .blob-files)

egal ob Fritzbox oder Proxmoxx, manchmal kommt bei mir diese Art der Meldung.

Verständnisfrage über zfs zil/slog writeback an die zfs gurus

Hallo Gemeinschaft,

wenn es um zfs zil und slog geht, findet man ja viele Hinweise im Netz, aber immer nichts Konkretes, woran man sich gut orientieren kann. Auch Erklärungen zu Funktionsweisen sind rar, deshalb stelle ich hier mal paar Fragen. Vielleicht kann ja einer weiterhelfen.

Ausgangssystem ist ein zfs Storage für Virtualisierung über NFS für Mix-Anwendungen. Es gibt 8 SSDs mit 500 GB Größe und ca. 500MB/s Schreibleistung die als SLOG in einem VDEV Mirror genutzt werden...

Guest-agent fs-freeze command breaks the system on backup

One of vms which I backup weekly broke when proxmox issues guest-agent 'fs-freeze' command.

I could ping the server, but nothing works (almost every port were down, the remaining didn't respond to anything and I couldn't ssh to it).

Although I haven't faced this issue in three years using proxmox and last three month enabling and installing qemu-guest-agent on host and vm, I waited for 20 minutes and nothing happens, then I stopped the backup, logged in to host and entered

qm unlock...

Newbie multiple NICs isp modem networking

Hello
First the current setup: isp modem with 4 ports and wifi. Port 4 has public static wan IP, proxmox vmbr1 connected to it. Vmbr0 goes to another regular switch(with another computer). Port 4 is primarily for wireguard, outside clients can connect to whole lan behind proxmox(via openwrt). This works.
What bothers me is the isp lan and proxmox/openwrt lan are separate,ideally they would be together. What options do i have? I have 2 more NIC, use one on isp modem? Am i overcomplicating? Help?

Migrate ZFS to Ceph?

Hello,
would it be possible to migrate from replicated ZFS to Ceph, when having 3 nodes in a cluster, without disturbing the production?
Note: never used Ceph, don't actually know anything yet about it, and all storage is built in, 3 servers having HBA with 8 flash drives each.

Using small SSDs with Ceph

Coming from Virtuozzo to Proxmox we had some storage HDDs that were using 200 GB SSDs for read and write caching. With Ceph we can use them for DB+WAL of course. Eventually I expect we'll replace the remaining HDDs with 1 or 2 TB SSDs. At that point, is there a downside to using an SSD that small as an OSD? The "weight" would account for its size...

Hi

I have 3 Dell PowerEdge R660 servers there is attached to a Dell EMC ME5024 Storage Array with sas cables.

I have set Promox up before but not with multiply servers with access to a Storage Array.

All 3 servers see the disk as you can se in this screen dump, how can I make a storage in Promox with access of all 3 servers ...

Hi,
I have a proxmox cluster consisting of five nodes. I have tried to configuring an RGW instance and then using the Ceph dashboard to configure the buckets and users but this fails.
The command that I supposed to be used for this,

I'am new in Proxmox, so sorry for another interfaces bond thread.
I have Grandstream GWN7813P L2-L3 Switch, that supports LAG: static and LACP.

I have Server with 1 HIC (Host Interface Card) with 4 x 1Gb ports. I need to bond this 4 interfaces to achive logical 4Gb with LACP.

Pass autoinstall URL to installer through PXE?

Hello,

I've read the auto install documentation for Proxmox.

I'm a little confused how do you pass the auto install URL to the installer via PXE?

In Debian it has been this:

preseed/url=

We don't really want to bake the autoinstall file into the ISO because then we'd need to maintain many different ISO images.

Is the only way to do this to specify the autoinstall file URL inside of the ISO?

Zabbix monitoring - cluster

Hi, I am using the official Zabbix template:
"Proxmox VE by HTTP"

I set up my first host and to my surprise it discovered all the nodes in my cluster and added items & triggers for them, but under the first host pve01. I think if I add the other 4 nodes in the cluster I am going to get a lot of duplicate items and triggers.

What is everyone else doing here? Just monitoring a single node?

Hi all,

We've run into a problem commissioning our new tape backup solution. Since we're in a heavily regulated industry, we're required to adhere to FIPS 140-2, which means using HPE's MSL Encryption Kit for validated FIPS 140-2 encryption on our Ultrium 9-SCSi drive. This seems to be causing an issue with PBS though, as when we try to label a tape we receive the error "status decode data encryption caps page failed - drive does not support AES-GCM encryption." Proxmox changing BIOS fan settings on ASUS NUC.

I have Proxmox running on an ASUS NUC 14 Pro.
Proxmox: latest version, kernel 6.11.11-2-pve, NUC: NUC14RVHU7.
Since an update on March 25th I face the following issue:

The NUC is running very hot, mostly on thermal throttle at about 100°C, at a CPU load of roughly 3%, so not too much.
This is happening only since this update, because Proxmox since that point of time is changing the BIOS setting for the fan to "standard". But I would like to have "performance".

Liebes Forum,

man liest hier ja viel, dass primär Enterprise-Laufwerke (SSDs) verwendet werden sollen, da diese mehr aushalten.
Klassisch kennt man halt Marken wie Samsung, Intel, Kioxia, etc.

Aber was genau definiert ihr als Enterprise-Laufwerk? Hohe DWPD auf zB 5 Jahre Garantie?
Durchgehend hohe Schreiblast, ohne dass irgendwann mal der SLC-Modus ausfällt und man dann bei 200 MB/s Schreibgeschwindigkeit herumtümpelt?

Mich würde da euer Input interessieren!

How can I upgrade PVE 8.2.2 to 8.2.4?

Hello All,

I have 4 nodes cluster with version 8.2.4 in my production.

I would like to add 2 more nodes (total 6 nodes). But what I can find is 8.2.2 ISO only.

So I installed 8.2.2 on 2 new nodes.

What I am thinking is before I join to the existing cluster I would like to upgrade those new nodes to the version 8.2.4 only to match with existing nodes.

Please kindly share whatever your idea for my case. Thanks.

PS: At the moment I cannot make any changes to existing 4 nodes which is...

How to share data between LXC container

Hi,

I have one LXC running an nfs server which is storing all media files. All these files belong user www-data.
Then I have a Nextcloud LXC (unprivileged) which shall have read+write access to these files.

I have set up bindmount via NFS on the host. In the host still all files belong to www-data.
Then I set up mount points in the Nextcloud LXC. And here all files belong to nobody.

How do I get it managed, that all files also belong to www-data in the Nextcloud LXC? I just don't get it...

Not booting after Update

Hey there,

we are using a PBS and the update process in the GUI worked like a charm.

Today we have done it the same way we did before: first "refreshed", then "update". After that we have rebootet the system via the GUI. Now the system is not starting.

We do not have access directly to the system, we use a managed server in the cloud. We have bootet into a rescue system and we have access to the rescue system via SSH, but now we don't know what to do.
