Hi,
We have a single Dell R7525 server running Proxmox that has been experiencing random freezes and kernel panics. The server is hosted in a data center, so I don't have physical access to it (but do have remote management using Dell's iDRAC). The freezes would lock the server solid, with no info on the console or in the logs, and would require a hard reboot. Since adding "pcie_port_pm = off libata.force = noncq" to the kernel command line, the freezes are gone but now we're seeing kernel...

I'd like to save a backup of a vm to an external drive so that I can move it over to a node in a different location.
How would I do this? I tried creating a zpool on the drive and then a directory dataset but clearly was missing something because it only showed up in the gui as a zfs store and wouldn't let me allocate a directory store from it.

Hello, i have proxmox 8.3.0 installed on a I7-8700 32 GB ram, installed on a nvme 1TB.
i connect a USB drive (3.0) for my backup, this one is a 1TB HD. 5400RPM SATA 6Gb/s 3.5-inch Hard Drive.


i have a 2 points.

1. Taking the backup is really slow.

i think the speed backing up very very very slow, i suspect something is not right.

Iv tried 3 different backup : with zStd, gZip and "none".
all 3 where slow as a turtle, i know this machine is not a server by any stretch, but still...

Wir sind nun zumn zweiten Mal in den Genuss einer fehlerhaften Disk in unserem BackUp Server gekommen und nachdem ich viel gelesen habe, jedoch nicht wirklich schlau aus den Tutorials geworden bin, möchte ich hier eine Anleitung posten, die hoffentlich hilft das ganze ein wenig einfacher zu machen.

Hello. I have a problem with Proxmox ( version 7.4.17) cluster of 2 members. It is running over 10 VMs and a CHR Mikrotik to access the internet for the VMs. The replication of the VMs is working fine, but the replication of the CHR Mikrotik is running to error. When I bring it up under the replication menu, it throws the following error (and it is also written to the journalctl log):

Yesterday while I was doing something, I got an email notifcation from my proxmox cluster saying that my second node, an R720 filled to the top with 2.5 SSD's, had failing drives. Upon opening said email, I saw this:







This wasnt the only email I got, too, it showed other drives like /dev/sdg, /dev/sda, /dev/sdh, and alot of the 240 GB drives (not sure if it showed any of my 940 GB ssd's), and the sector count it showed seemed absurdly high. (216 trillion sectors??)

I bought a used Thin Client with 8GB RAM, 64GB SSD, which I'm using to play around with Proxmox, Home Assistant and paperless-ngx. I installed a "default" Proxmox VE (whatever this means) and set up paperless-ngx in an LXC with 10GB successfully and created a VM for Home Assistant OS (HAOS) with the proxmox helper scripts. For some reason, the HAOS VM requires 32GB disk space, which can not be changed.

Hello All,

Has anybody experienced problems with the enp0s31f6 Intel network card with the new Proxmox VE 6.8.12-9 Kernel?
With this new kernel, the network suddenly stops after some hours. I don't seem to see any relevant information that I can explore.
I don't have the same behavior using the pinned 6.8.12-8-pve Kernel.

I'm looking into running a QDevice for my proxmox cluster within docker on my Synology nas. I've never used docker before so this is still new to me. I've downloaded a few "images' from the registry but while I can get at least one of them to build and run I can't seem to connect to it. I'm wondering if anyone here has experience running a qdevice in docker and may be able to point me in the right direction.

Don't laugh....
I have a Mac mini from 2012, core i7, 16gb, nothing too fancy. I use the Mac (MacOS) with an attached Drobo 5D and Thunderbolt 1. I run Plex on the Mac and some of the arrr services. Only maybe 2 streams max watching Plex at a time.

My plan is to move this to a there node proxmox cluster I'm thinking of using a the mini PC's from minis-forum, 12th gen i7 maybe, 32GB ram

I'm wondering how some USB 3.1 drives, like 16TB external will perform with Ceph on this small cluster...

i have 2 poxmox host and i defined a sdn which is usable on both hosts

now a added a network adapter to the sdn bridge on one host on the console

brctl addif test1net enp8s0f1

the frames from the network adapter are visible on the other host

how can tell proxmox to atomaticly attach the network adapter when network config is changed ?

Hello there!

I really like the idea of having the full root-filesystem encrypted using native ZFS encryption (only).
However, as I currently couldn't find any complete writeup on on this topic, here's what worked for me (with and without Secureboot on PVE 8.1):

1. Install with zfs (RAID0 for single-disk application)
2. Reboot into ISO > Advanced Options > Graphical, debug mode
3. Exit to bash with `exit` or Ctrl+D
4. Execute following commands:

For a virtual machine, I can configure startup order and startup delay (see https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/pve-admin-guide.html#qm_virtual_machines_settings).

However, what is the default startup delay and how can I configure it (as a node-wide setting?).

(I'm not referring to the start-on-boot delay.)
