eine VM wird immer komplett gesichert

Hallo,

Proxmox VE 8.3 Installer boot stopping at loading drivers

Hi everyone. I'm trying to install Proxmox VE 8.3, and this is my first time with Proxmox.

Hardware I'm using:
Intel Core i5-6400 CPU
MSI H110M Gaming Motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB DDR4 Memory
MSI Nvidia Geforce 1060 Ti Video card

I read all the threads I could find related to the Nvidia driver issue. I tried booting with Terminal and Debug and inserted "nomodeset" in the kernel parameters and I'm still hanging up just after loading drivers. The last line says "Driver nvidiafb not...

LACP Problem with DELL R760 Server and 2 Network Cards

Hello,
we have a strange problem with the Proxmox server. We have DELL R760 servers with 4 x 25 GbE onboard cards (Broadcom) and an additional 2 x 25 GbE AddOn PCI card (Broadcom). A LACP Bond 802.3ad has been set up. The bond is stable. However, if we fetch data via this channel from a VM from the Internet or another data source, the connection can be slow at first, e.g. if you do an SCP or WGET. If you call the command several times, the connection is suddenly fast.

The bond consists of...

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the wonderful proxmox ecosystem.

I recently configured a proxmox cluster with ceph, but I don't understand the remaining disk space values displayed.

Here is a description of my configuration :

  • PVE1/PVE2/PVE3 (3 nodes)
  • Dell PowerEdge server (VE 8.3.3 installed on NVme with RAID1 BOSS Card 2x480GB)
  • "VM+Management Access Network" : 10Gbps > on switch
  • "CEPH Public+Cluster network" : 25Gbps DAC Fiber > full mesh RSTP
  • "Corosync cluster...

Update & Risk Management Best Practices? How to ensure real HA between Clusters

Hey guys,

today in one of our standup meetings we thought about improving out update strategy. Currently we run multiple clusters running on different versions of Proxmox. So far, to ensure we have our HA services always running, we update one cluster at a time, let it run to ensure its stable and roughly a month later its counterpart.
We do have development clusters in place to test the most recent Proxmox changes but we can never assure the exact software version on each cluster we...

How to create RAID array with existing drive without losing existing data?

I first bought a 4TB drive long ago that has been serving me well for Plex, but I want to expand my little server for more, specifically for 4k movies and replacing my cloud storage.

I just bought myself 5 more 4TB drives, and I'm thinking of doing some sort of RAID array to have a 4 drive data pool + 2 for parity. I am a full on newbie to Proxmox, RAIDing, and these sorts of advanced technicalities. I have just installed Proxmox VE 8.3.4 onto the computer's 120GB NVME, but that's about it...

Proxmox on Debian secure boot setup

Hi Experts

I'm installing Proxmox on top of Debian for disk encryption purposes. Everything seems to work fine for Proxmox but I can't get secure boot to be working. Secure boot worked for a normal Proxmox ISO installation (not with Debian).

I got this while booting up:
Loading Linux 6.8.12-8-pve ...
error: bad shim signature.
Loading initial ramdisk ...
error: you need to load the kernel first.

I looked at this thread and saw that you have to install the signed package which I've...

Hallo zusammen,

ich betreibe ein Proxmox Ceph Cluster mit drei Nodes, die wie folgt konfiguriert sind:
  • Ceph: 2×10G SFP+ (Active/Backup)
  • VMs: 2×10G Kupfer (Active/Backup)
  • Corosync: 2×1Gbit Kupfer (dedizierte Ports)

NVME Drive Serial "unknown"

Dear Proxmox Community,

Two SK Hynix PC711 NVME drives in my Proxmox Node have an "unknown" serial in the Disks table. There seems to be a parsing error when trying to detect it. I found the following thread where another user had a similar problem.

When I run the udev command to read out the serial number, I get the following output (abbreviated):

Code:
udevadm info -p /sys/block/nvme0n1 --query all

ID_SERIAL_SHORT=   KGADN486501210C70H

Notice the spaces after the equal sign...

Proxmox VE time issue

Hi all,

I have a weird and frustrating issue with the time on my proxmox VE.

This virtual environment sits on an off site server and is used for backups etc. It runs a few VM's such as a windows sftp server, proxmox backup server and some firewalls. All of the VM's sitting on this VE have correct time but not the VE itself.

The time is for some reason out by 3 minutes preventing my TFA from working. I have read every thread I can find on this and cannot seem to resolve it.

Hoping someone...

Hey guys,
we do a PCI Passthrough of a TRX 4060 TI on a B650D4U-2L2T/BCM mainboard with an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X CPU.
I got the passthrough working yesterday once after a CMOS reset followed by reapplying these bios options (I verified working passthrough using nvidia-smi in the VM), but after powering off the server and putting it back into the rack, it doesn't work anymore. Every time I start the VM, it does show this error (rebooted ~5 times to test if it occurs every time):

Code:

PBS Performance

Hello,

I'm running PBS on RAID Z2 over 4x Enterprise SATA with 50GBps Private Bandwidth.

My actual hosts are 256GB RAM with 64 Cores

I have noticed the restores are pretty slow on the decompression - is there a way to increase the performance on them?

Also where is the resources being used for the restore / backup? is it on the host or on the PBS server?

also note that the I/O doesnt seem to be the issue and doesnt seem to be the current bottleneck.

I have read other posts which are a...

An app having trouble binding ports when installed on host

I'm trying to get coolercontrold up on my PVE instance. When installed on host and initialized, logs output:
IPv4 bind error: Could not bind to standard IPv4 loopback address on port 11987
Is there any sort of firewalling measure on PVE that could potentially cause this?

VX-LAN active with one peer IP

Hi,
I am testing the different SDN options, to that I use a server with IP 10.10.10.10 and one with 10.10.10.20.
I configured the vxlan peer IP's and the guests on both hosts could communicate. Then I found a typo on host '10.10.10.20' I wrote peer IP '10.10.10.1' and not .10

Does anyone know if it is this by design that it works even though only 1 peer address is correct? It feels a bit like a bug/security issue. Apparently anyone can connect vxlan to your host as long as it's reachable.

Hi friends,

I'm new to proxmox and I'm going to make my first install and have some serious problems. On this NUC there is a RTL 8125 Chip. In the installation I don't see an eth0 or so only the wifi module. Actually I spend 3 days to get a connection without any result. No wifi and no ethernet. Can someone help me out? Or should I throw this NUC away and buy other one? Thank you

Are SSD NVMe issues resurfacing with the latest PVE kernel upgrade?

$

Hi Team,

At the end of 2023, several users reported issues with unexplained loss of access to NVMe SSDs, particularly Samsung 990 Pro NVMe SSDs, which I have. One or more NVMe SSDs suddenly disconnected and were no longer detected by Linux.

The server had to be powered off and then powered back on to detect the NVMe SSD; a simple reboot was insufficient.

The solution was to add `nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0` in GRUB as follows:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet...

There is a new QEMU 9.2 available in the pvetest and pve-no-subscription repository.

After internally testing QEMU 9.1 for a couple of months, and then 9.2 for a couple of weeks, we decided to skip a separate 9.1 update and move directly to QEMU 9.2 as the default version included in the next point release, which is scheduled for early spring 2025.
After over a month on the pvetest repository, we now (2025-03-12) made our QEMU 9.2 package available in the...

Proxmox 4.4 virtio_scsi regression.

Hi folks,
I was successfully using proxmox 4.3 with hard drives passed to VM's with virtio_scsi (both single & pci) without any issue and with any mix of configuration flags (aio, threads, ect ect).

After upgrading to 4.4 all VM's corrupted their file systems on passthrough disks (fun).

Right now I've reverted a production systems to 4.3 and run there successfully what ever I could rescue. I use 2 servers as test ground with proxmox 4.4 and I can confirm that disks connected via built in...
