Help Configuring a Network Adapter on VE Host

I've got several adapter cards on my Proxmox server. They're all showing up in the datacenter server view under my host server in the network settings. That much is good. The first NIC is getting an IP address from the DHCP server but the second is not. I've got a total of 6 NICs on this server. Two of them are plugged in and show physical link lights on the cards. Of those two, one is not getting an IP address.

After having some issues I never ironed out first go around I decided id dig into rebuilding my beelink NUC that im using to backup my main system as I was having some issues previously with the datastores but I got it working. well this time around appears the same issue. I started with a fresh proxmox install and then installed PBS using the tteck scripts available for the LXC. Need help with AMD GPU RX580 passthrough

Hello community,

I need some help regarding the AMD GPU passthrough.

So far I've got:

- monitor connected via hdmi to the amd rx580 card in proxmox
-enabled IOMMU
-enabled SVN
-extended BAR etc.
- a fresh proxmox install
- a windows 11 VM

I installed windows with the latest VirtIO drivers.
Later I installed the whole VirtIO package in Windows when logged in via NoVNC.
Later I've added the card via the RAW options (it was not listed under the mapped devices).

Move disk/VM from LVM to ZFS

Hello,

I have a simple home lab setup with two nodes: node-a with LVM and node-b with ZFS. I am trying to find the way to move disks and VMs from the node running LVM to the second one with ZFS, so I can re-create node-a with ZFS as well. I can't find any options in GUI or documentation for the command line. Am I missing something? Is this even possible?

New node cannot connect to external Ceph cluster

Hello,

I just installed a new node (v8.3.4) and added it to my Proxmox cluster (nodes running v8.2.7), but for some reason, it is not able to connect to my external Ceph cluster; the two storage drives I have just show with grey question marks on them, and nothing I have done will allow it to connect. I have the networking and MTUs set identically to my other two hosts.

Hello,

I use Proxmox since version 4.4 in my homelab, and recently set up my first Proxmox instance on a Hetzner Root Server. The machine has a single public IPv4 and the usual /64 IPv6 subnet. While most of the setup is working, I have an issue where I need some more ideas.

For IPv6, the host and every VM has an address from the subnet. This is the most straightforward configuration and works flawless.

Hi all. I have followed this guide for setting up my GPU passthrough and it is either locking up the VM or locking up the entire host when the VM boots. This happens on both MacOS VM as well as Windows VM. I really only tried the Windows VM just to see if

On MacOS VM, the VM just gets killed shortly after booting up and showing the Apple logo. On the Windows VM, it actually works and boots fine..... until I install the AMD drivers, which then cause the entire host computer to lock...

Virtual Machines not able to make synchronous/DIRECT IO after update?

I updated my PVE yesterday to the newest updates available on the 'enterprise ready' sources.

Now I am wondering what changed. ZFS is reporting literally no sync writes to the SLOG device of my ZFS pool.
Something changed other than all of my VMs.

I've got pretty simple 4-node, 8 OSD (2 OSDs per node) Ceph cluster installed on PVE8.
Everything seems to be working fine, but on one of the nodes (in dmesg) I've got a lot of "libcepf: socket closed" messages:

VM langsam seit Umstellung auf host-cpu

Hallo Zusammen

Ich habe einen kleinen Proxmox-Server
2 x Intel XeonE5-2640 v4, 384Gb RAM, PVE 8.3.4

Darauf läuft eine Windows 11 VM (8 Cores, 16Gb RAM).
Aufgesetzt wurde die VM mit "x86-64-v2-AES" CPUs
Allerdings verlangt eine Software zwingend AVX, weshalb ich den CPU-Type auf "host" gestellt habe.

Seit der Umstellung läuft das System sehr langsam.
In der VM selber habe ich permanent >20% CPU last.
Proxmox selber meldet auf der VM eine Last von >40%

Hi,
please consider adding the backup, validation and verify speed of backups to Proxmox Backup Server roadmap
it's take very long time for backup steps, even if I have Disks Samsung Etnerprise NVMe 7.5Gbps read speed
and even if I did for tests backups to NVMe array, with 7Gbps write for each disk, it's still never backup more than 400 MiB/s
and Waiting for server to finish backup validation... also take very long time

Hi,

Sorry I'm very new to Proxmox and I've tried to find similar ports on the forum in regards to my problem, but I'm getting no where.
Can someone please help me out before I reinstall everything, just to find out the problem reappears.
Everything has been running smooth for 2-3 month and now my one and only VM is crashing on startup and I'm getting an io-error triangle in the UI.

Metric server: organization: value must be at least 3 characters long

Hi,

we already use the metrics server functionality from PVE. We wanted to adapt this to PBS, but have the problem that our organization name is rejected there because it is only two characters long. Is there a technical reason for the limitation in PBS? After all, the organization name is correct and is also accepted by PVE.
