Hello,
i just migrated all my VMs from VMWare to PVE successfully, smoothly. I'm very impressed.
While my Windows and Linux machines work fine with the VirtIO network adapter my FreeBSD 14 don't. SSH, SMTP, HTTP, ... work fine but OpenVPN does not like the apapter at all, constant connection drops and very slow performance. Same with DHCP.
I switched to 1000e which immediately worked flawless. DIgging around I found out that the VMNET3 adapter not only works on VMWare but also on Proxmox...

I have a VM running on PVE 8.3.3 with a hookscript setup on it.
The hookscript appears to be running only when the VM shutdowns (either from the VM itself or via PVE webui). As part of the troubleshooting of this, I have replaced my own brewed script with the example PERL script and the same behavior is observed.
On the "System Log" of the node hosting my VM (VMID is 4020) I can only see the output for the "stop" phase as below

Hello!
I have Proxmox Virtual Environment 8.3.1 on two servers.
In both i have about 6-7 VM's.
This servers are clustered with qDevice.
I set SMB/CIFS storage for backup and create backup schedule everyday for all VM.
After ~3 months of use i see, that many backup will fail.
I have mail notification from backups and i see:
Status is OK, time are consumed, but size is 0.
When size is 0 (real file has about 50GB) backup cant be restored.
Any1 know what is wrong? If i good remember, in 90%...

In the last weeks, I got these error messages many times, roughly one in every ten backups produces these errors.
I get that this means that there was an error server-side during the final _sync_ call when the backup finishes.
However, I do not know how I could debug this:
- I tried looking at the logs in /var/log/proxmox-backup/tasks/ but found no clues
- I looked at the journald logs, and found

I've read through all the related posts I can find, and haven't been able to identify a clear path to escape my situation safely.
- I have an SSD (1.86 TB) that is dying. My whole proxmox install is on this SSD.
- I have backups of all my VMs on another drive which is safe.
- I have a full drive image of the ailing SSD.
- My replacement SSD is 1.82 TB - sadly it is smaller. so I cannot restore the drive image to it, nor do I want to spend more to get a bigger one.

Hello everyone,
i've a running proxmox server and rented a pbs access from a service provider for backups.
Everything was absolutely fine with it.
But now after some time and a lot of more backups, i've the following problem.
i get communication failure (0)" (somtimes a "Connection timed out (596) really seldom) when i try to "list" the backups via gui.
If i list the repository via cli, its working and takes about 40 seconds to list all backups.
Is there any solution for the gui timeout...

I've installed Proxmox 8.3 on a barebones PC I have. After about 4-6 hours of just letting it run the PC would freeze or get hung and the PC is not responsive forcing me to reboot manually. I've had this PC for about 6 years or more running WIN10 with no freezing issues. I took the PC to my local shop to have hardware checked and everything came back working fine. Hello,
I have the latest Proxmox installed with an Intel 82579V Gb network controller.
Proxmox ui (and CT/VM) are not reachable for a few seconds.
This would happen up to several times a day at seemingly random.
What am I supposed to do to solve that issue ?
Is it a driver or hardware issue ?

Firstly, i've found several people with similiar issues, but most seem to be VERY old and seem to be related to using Clusters which im not.
I have a Single PC, running Proxmox VE 8.2.2, have been using it for about 6months, its runs several LXC's and a OPNSense virutal machine.
All containers are running their apps just fine & can be started and stopped from the Proxmox WebGUI.
I can maintain most of them via their own WebGUI's but occassionally i need to drop to a shell.

Hello, I just installed Proxmox on a N6005 box, and starting a shell from my Ubuntu 22.04 Firefox browser results in a completely blank (black) screen, with only the flashing cursor visible. I have supermicro server with 2 processes and 512 GB ram, I have installed proxmox and it showing on 157gb RAM although I have 512 RAM.

I'm new on Proxmox, and I'm testing it for a possible future vmware replacement.
I'm trying two node cluster (PVE 8.3) with external quorum server (Qdevice, installed on a debian vm) and F.C. shared storage (see attached schema).
My approach on testing is trial and error style.
I got stuck on the ha and failover tests. I shut down one of the two cluster nodes and expect the VMs failover to the other node without interrupting service.

Rebooted server today and I am getting most of the services failing to start.

seit unseren monatlichen PMG Updates vor einer Woche beobachten wir einen konstant hohen IO Delay:

Hi Forum!
I am in trouble copying the pmg generater public dkim key to ionos dns.
I removed the " and checked a few times no characters seem to be missing but dkim check programs complain about missing or invalid public key.
I am using Ionos as smarthost.
I think the problems are related to the format of the key.
Maybe ionos dns doesn't like spaces or something else inside the key?
Has anybody inserted successfull a dkim key generated by pmg to Ionos dns?
