I'm getting these errors in my log on my 3rd node. It's got a CIFS/SMB connection to a Synology NAS. Can anyone give me any insight on this error? The error is: kernel: CIFS: VFS: No writable handle in writepages rc=-9

It causes the LXC to go down, and the whole node to become a question mark. I can get to the node without any trouble but its status is unknown. Here is a portion of the log:

HELP! Deleted everything under /var/lib/ceph/mon on one node in a 4 node cluster

I'm stupid :/, and I really need your help. I was following the thread to clear a dead monitor here https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/ceph-cant-remove-monitor-with-unknown-status.63613/post-452396

And as instructed, I deleted the folder named "ceph-nuc10" where nuc10 is my node name under folder /var/lib/ceph/mon. I know, I messed it up.

Now, I get a 500 error checking any of the Ceph panels in Proxmox UI. Is there a way to recovery?

So I messed up and added *@blah.com as an email address on my server instead of adding that to my email address. Now it shows on the drop down list for E-mail: users. How do I delete it?

Proxmox "freezing" randomly

Hi there,

I have a proxmox server, with 4 VM's running.

Every couple hours to couple of days, the server just "freezes"
The machine is still online and running, but no one is home.

I need to force shutdown and boot back up.

Log files at the crash are:

We're testing the new 8.3 version on our just upgraded test environment and we occur problems during the VM migrations.

An hardware machine is installed with Proxmox 8.3 up-to-date. Three VM are installed with 8.3 Proxmox too into a CEPH cluster for the shared storage. Three other VM are installed with 8.3 Proxmox too into a PVE cluster. This PVE cluster use the CEPH cluster for the RDB shared storage.

ESTALE: Stale file handle

I'm having this issue since a couple weeks.
Backup would fail with this error.

It usually juste need to reboot PBS server to fix the issue, but it's very annoying.
Is there something I could do to solve this?

I'm backing up to a Local PBS server, running in a VM and then it's remote sync to another PBS instance running in AWS.

PROXMOX and Windows ROK license for DELL

I have a new DELL server, and installed PROXMOX without a problem.
I'm now installing W2016 ROK, but it hangs in ROK license check, that is the check that it's real DELL hardware.

I already dealt with this problem with HP hardware, and resolved using SMBIOS parameters. With Dell I'm not able to make it work.

I’m new to the Proxmox community and have encountered an issue that I can’t seem to resolve, despite trying several steps and getting help from ChatGPT. I hope someone here can assist me.

Cant exeed gigabit speed on 2.5gb realtek nic

Hi veveryone,

I'm trying to use a realtek R815 2.5GBe card with my proxmox and i'm having a few issues with being able to exceed gigabit speed from other machines in the network.
i have a couple of vms, one of which is truenas scale.

I would like to still be able to have full speed between the VMs, but still be able to access to the data stored in truenas at 2.5gbit.

It appears that the main node it is still connected as gigabit, even if the 2.5gbit light on the network card blinks...

Hello, I've run into an issue that I'm not sure how to fix and need some assistance.

I've set up BPF on my proxmox host so that my LXC's can use it. So on the host, i can see the following files under /proc/sys/net/core:

Windows 11 VM extremely slow

I have Proxmox 8.3 on a HP Proliant server with RAM: 128GB and CPU: 48 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2650 v4 @ 2.20GHz (2 Sockets)

No matter how I tried to configure a VM with Windows 11, I always get an extremely slow machine.

I use VirtIO drivers for disk (on local zfs filesystem), network and balloon.

local only 100GB

ich habe einene Proxmox mit ext4 installiert. Ich habe 100GB local und 2,9TB local-lvm. Wenn ich nun die beiden Serverdatein im qcow2 Format auf den Proxmox kopieren möchte /var/lib/vz/images/100 ---102
VM1: 110 GB Speicher - Windows Server 2019 - VM2: 750 GB Speicher - Windows Server 2019
habe ich das Problem das local nur 100 GB frei hat.

Wenn ich die Files in das local-lvm kompieren würde müsse ich in das raw Format konvertieren und das hätte einige Nachteile. Wie würdet...

(Size in UI is gigabytes but lsblk is gibibytes so the 239 in UI is 222.6 in lsblk)
