Creating a cluster via GUI gets the wrong IP for the cluster.
I have a node I'm already using and now I want to add a second one and form a cluster. The second one is freshly set up and has 0 guests.
First node has 2 NICs, one in a 192.168 net and the other one in 10.x and is running opnsense which acts as DHCP server in the 10. net.
Code:
➜ ~ cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.188.20 microx.fritz.box microx
10.13.37.20 microx.opnsense microx

Hi,
I need to change the backup day for all VMs.
Is there a way to change the backup schedule for all virtual servers?
How to change the backup schedule using console commands?
As I understand it, there is no point in changing this file /etc/pve/vzdump.cron (# Automatically generated file - do not edit)
There is not enough information in the documentation (25.1. Schedule Format): -
"Proxmox Backup Server uses a format...."
Where exactly does it use this format, what is the name of the...

Hello,
I would like to create a network interface for a specific VM under Windows 11 to be able to access it in RDP but this VM must not have access to the internet.
I found that if a create a Linux Bridge without IPv4 and IPv6 address it should work (and put a static IP in the VM), maybe I've made a mistake but it's not working for me.
How do you guys do this?
Thanks in advance.

I upgraded my 7.x host to 8.3 and all VM's restored fine but one VM does not see the second HDD LVM thin pool it used to see
What should show this:
Shows this
I can see the thin pool storage exists and that it has the vm disk I was expecting to be included.
As it's not something I can select with the "Add -> Hard Disk" GUI function, I tried adding it to the vm's .conf file but that reports an error
Code:
vm 220 - unable to parse value of 'scsi1' -...

New to Proxmox, but not to virtualization. I installed a three node cluster last week, configured Ceph for shared storage, created some VMs and everything seems to work normally. I can migrate VMs from host to host no issue, I can put hosts into maintenance mode and VMs move automatically.
Issue: If I lose power on a node, it takes about 2 minutes for the VMs to automatically reregister on other hosts on the cluster and their OSes never load up. 3 minutes later and the VMs are still...

Hi! The company has proxmox, where there is a pool of users.
Is there a way to assign a specific VM ID of virtual machines to a specific user?
For example, John will create VMs with only 100 to 150 IDs, and Sam from 150 to 200.
I use Google translate, I apologize for the mistakes)

Hello,
today I tried the new Datacenter Manager. It looks very good and seems to work.
I`ve tested migration. Basically it works great. I migrated the running Datacenter Manager VM to another Remote. No lag. Great!
But If i try to migrate some Containers with features like nfs or something else. I get this message.
2025-01-29 15:04:31 ERROR: migration aborted (duration 00:00:05): error - tunnel command '{"firewall-config":null,"cmd":"config","conf":"arch: amd64\ncores: 2\nfeatures...

I've been using my pve-1 and pve-2 for a few months and learning a lot. They both have a small ssd for isos, etc and a second ssd for VMS. I used zfs raid0 for these installs. Having a great time...
I now have a third machine that only has a single ssd in it. Due to the tutorials I am following for a separate topic, this machine I used ext4 formatting.
The problem I am having is that of my 500GB disk it created a local partition of 100GB but then my remaining 400GB is nowhere to be...

We are proud to announce the first release of our new integrated import wizard!
Proxmox VE now provides an integrated VM import wizard re-using the storage plugin system for native integration into the API and web-based user interface. You can use this to import VMware ESXi VMs as a whole, with most of its config mapped to Proxmox VE’s config model and reduced downtime.

Hi, I seem to have come across a very strange problem.
I cannot access the web-ui from my main Fedora workstation even though I can ping and ssh into the pve, but I can access the web-ui from my MacBook and my Android phone without any issue.
I searched around and found that I can troubleshoot a bit by curling from the pve, so I tried on all four of my linux machines (2 Fedora, 1 AlmaLinux, 1 TrueNAS) as well as my OPNsense firewall.
curl -sk https://${pve-ip}:8006
won't succeed on...

Hi all,
I have an APC UPS that is configured via NUT on Pfsense. I have two other servers (TrueNAS and a Windows box) connected as NUT clients and they successfully shutdown with a loss of power.
I have Proxmox successfully seeing the UPS (checking via "upsc"), but no matter what I put in the config files, it won't shutdown on a loss of power.
If I turn off the power as a test, I see the following on the Proxmox server:
Nov 21 17:50:32 pve upsmon[850]: Communications with UPS...

Hello everyone,
I have been trying to setup two servers to communicate over infiniband using some ConnectX-3 cards. I finally got them working but anytime i start a truenas vm with a hba passed though opensm starts to spam [2C2006C0] 0x01 -> umad_receiver: ERR 5404: recv error on MAD sized umad (Input/output error error in the opensm log file and eventually fills up the root drive. I think it might be caused by the hba and the ConnectX-3 being in the same iommu group?
Thanks!

I'm running a proxmox server in a production environment, and I always see that the swap space fills up after a few days from a reboot. The host has plenty of free memory and usually sits around 80% of 768GB in use, but the swap is at 100% 8GB/8GB. I'm not noticing any performance issues, but is it constantly writing to disk?
Should I be concerned?
I'm on 8.3.3
Thanks

Hi folks,
Running NFSv3 on Netapp and need to tune sunrpc values for the mounts.
The parameters I'm trying to change are sunrpc.tcp_slot_table_entries = 128 and sunrpc.tcp_max_slot_table_entries = 128 for the sunrpc module.
I've tried to change sysctl.conf and defining entries in modprobe.d and forcing the module to load in modules-load.d.
For some reason the values does not set. I'm guessing its the order on how stuff loads. They are set if I do a sysctl -p manually.
Ideas anyone?

To start, I am aware that neither NFS nor SMB get any performance gain from being run over an LACP bond. That is, a 2x10 GbE bond is not a 20 GbE connection, but two 10 GbE connections that provide load balancing and failover.
To get actual 20 GbE speeds for file transfers, you'd need to use SMB multichannel or the equivalent NFS feature.
That said, my understanding is that
PBS uses a different, proprietary protocol/method to transfer data. So, I was just curious...
