Hi i am new to this Forum

i came from Networking site and i try to get more knowledge on Virtualization in my Homelab..
first i dont get it why Proxmox has so much issues to get a stable NetworkConfiguration with absolute Standard Network Cards

i mean i have network but i cant Upload an Image or as soon a little load get on it Proxmox will loose its Network Interfaces it is real annoying ....

in this case i use Intel X540-T2

i find so many Reports with Google about that issue but it...

Opt-in Linux 6.11 Kernel for Proxmox VE 8 available on test & no-subscription

We recently uploaded a 6.11 kernel into our repositories. The current 6.8 kernel will stay the default on the Proxmox VE 8 series, the newly introduced 6.11 kernel is an option.
The 6.11 based kernel may be useful for some (especially newer) setups, for example if there is improved hardware support that has not yet been backported to 6.8.
This follows our tradition of upgrading the Proxmox VE kernel to match the current Ubuntu version until we reach an (Ubuntu) LTS release, like the 6.8...

Smartctl KO on VM with HDD passthrough

Hello,

I have 5 HDD on my DIY NAS and I'm able to run SMART tests on my pve node with the shell command line but as soon as I create a VM (truenas scale) with HDD passthrough config, SMART is not working anymore with the same command line in shell.

I've followed proxmox https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Passthrough_Physical_Disk_to_Virtual_Machine_(VM) tutorial for the HDD passthrough (truenas smart test also failed with "unsupported scsi opcode")

Any help will be highly appreciated ...

Is this proxmox network configuration bad?

Hello,

I have this network configuration and i keep having Quorate issues randomly. I have each LACP connection on separate switches like it shows in the comments. Is it better to just not have backup network connections to keep things simple?

VM not a bootable disk

Hi, thanks in advance.
I made a VM's clone from one node to another one (in my cluster).
  • The process created a new logical volume in my node, however my VM does not boot correclty as you can see in the image (posted).
  • I have my logical volume /dev/main/vm-303-disk-0, but I cannot understand what's wrong.
  • I can make it available using >lvchange -ay /dev/main/vm-303-disk-0, but this does not solve my VM'booting problem!

Trouble installing after boot from GRUB

I have an HP DL360 G6 server and have run the tests on it to make sure that it will be okay to use for 3.3. I have been able to get to the GRUB just fine, but if I click on the GUI interface then it doesn't work. I've accepted that I won't be able to use this. However, when I select the console option no input shows up and if I select that TUI option it will just show a black screen. Any help would be appreciated. If any other details are needed, please let me know

Hallo alle,
welchen Befehl kann ich verwenden, um mir eine Liste aller IP-Adressen mit Portnummern der LXC-Container, die auf dem Server installiert sind, anzeigen zu lassen? Diese Liste will ich kopieren und im Nachgang drucken.

Hintergrund:
Ich möchte gern per Wireguard von außerhalb meiner vier Wände auf den einen oder anderen Container zugreifen können, kann mir aber die IP-Adressen und Portnummern von übe 20 LXC-Containern unmöglich merken. Deshalb würde ich gern eine Liste dieser...

Network UPS Connect (NOT HOST)

I've been searching and most of what I've found suggests installing NUT, connecting the UPS to the Proxmox server by USB and using that as the UPS host. This is not what I want to do.

I have an existing UPS (APC) with a network card and have several other servers running off it (it's big) that all connect by network. A6000 passthrough on supermicro/Epyc Milan stalling bad on vm boot, then working

On a H12SSL-NT supermicro superserver with AMD EPYC 7543 cpu, and 3x A6000, passing them through to linux vms stalls the vm badly in the beginning but eventually manages to boot, - found out by accident - .
I can install the nvidia drivers inside and can run various compute workloads like llms etc.
The problem is this takes about 4 to 5 minutes keeping one core on the host at 100% and I'm not sure if I can passthrough more than 1 A6000 to the same vm because last time I tried it still hadn't...

Remove nodes from cluster - reinstall with same hostname and IP?

Hi.
I'm about to remove two nodes from my 13 node cluster, to form a new cluster (with a q device). The new cluster will be handled by multiportal, to see if it works out for us.

Can I just remove them (per documentation), reinstall them and reuse IP address and nodenames, or will this cause any issues?

How about re-adding them to the cluster, if multiportal doesn't work out for us? Do I need to change nodename/IP then?

I'm aware that the ssh key won't be the same.

Moin,
seit ein paar Wochen läuft unser neuer Windows 2025 Server als DC auf einem Proxmox VE 8.3 und läuft eigentlich ganz rund.

Es kommt nur immer wieder jeden Tag an unterschiedlichen Zeitpunkten folgende Fehlermeldung im Eventlog.

how to config Wireguard for pve host?

I want to establish an vpn tunnel between two distant pve nodes (pve 1/ pve 2). pve 1 is on a vps. pve2 is behind a fritzbox.

First Attemp:

I installed Wireguard-server in a LXC-wireguard on pve 1 and pve 2
The connection between is LXC-wireguard-pve1 and LXC-wireguard-pve2 is established and from LXC-wireguard-pve1 I can ping all LXC of pve 2.
Problem:
But from the host pve1 or other LXC of pve1 there is no connection to pve 2 possible, yet. How can I configure that als LXC can join the...

Hello,

I made the mistake (apparently) of using an NVMe that I had laying around in my Proxmox build. Proxmox is installed on the NVMe, and I have a larger SSD installed that my containers/VMs are stored on.

The NVMe is throwing critical medium errors. Lovely.

So, I'm wondering if it would be possible to move the Proxmox partitions that are on the NVMe (the server still runs, so it seems to have gone read-only) to the existing SSD that the container/VMs are on?

Hallo, ich bin neu bei Proxmox habe jedoch Erfuhrung mit debian.

Ich habe mir Proxmox VE 8.3 als ISO heruntergeladen und auf meinen Supermicro Server ohne Probleme installiert. Nach dem Neustart des Servers hatte ich jedoch keinen Zugriff auf das mir angezeigte Webinterface des proxmox Servers.

Nach etwas Recherche habe ich gesehen dass alle NIC's auf DOWN stehen. Abhilfe schaffte:

systemctl restart networking

Meine eno1np0 steht auf UP und der Server ist erreichbar.

i was looking around in Proxmox and did look at the Datacenter tab -> Summary -> Resources.
