CPU Kerne/Threads

Hallo zusammen,

ich habe mir für mein Proxmox Server neue Hardware zugelegt, dabei hat mich etwas verwundert.
Ich hoffe ihr könnt mir dabei helfen.

Der Server hat einen i5-10500T als CPU dieser besitzt 6 Kerne und durch Hyperthreading 12 Threads.
Leider werden mir in der Proxmox Oberfläche nur 6 Kerne angezeigt. Verstehe ich das falsch oder müssten dort nicht 12xi5-10500T angezeigt werden?

Liegt es an der BIOS Konfiguration habe ich im Proxmox vergessen eine Einstellung zu machen?

Hi zusammen,

ich habe folgendes Problem:

Auf meinem Proxmox laufen einige LXC in der Sophos (VM im Proxmox) DMZ. Diese LXC sind von extern (iNet) erreichbar.
Wenn jedoch nach 24 Stunden die Zwangstrennung seitens ISP kommt, sind die DMZ LXCs nicht mehr erreichbar.

Alle verfügen über ein LetsEncrypt Zertifikat.
Proxmox an sich und die restlichen VMs sowie auch die LXCs welche nicht in der DMZ hängen sind erreichbar.

When we're trying to add our cluster or even a node, we're getting the error below. All the nodes have been fully updated & upgraded to pve-manager/8.3.2/3e76eec21c4a14a7 (running kernel: 6.8.12-5-pve). All the nodes are the same hardware & kernel.

Migrating VMs from Xen to Proxmox – Stuck in Initramfs

Hello
I'm trying to migrate VMs from two old Xen 4.4 servers to Proxmox. I've successfully extracted the disk (xvda2) images and added GRUB to make them bootable. However, when I try to boot the VMs on Proxmox, they drop me into an initramfs shell.

After some poking around, I noticed that /sys and /proc are empty, I'm guessing it because the vm use paravirtualization, but I have no clue to fix that.

Moin,
seit ein paar Wochen läuft unser neuer Windows 2025 Server als DC auf einem Proxmox VE 8.3 und läuft eigentlich ganz rund.

Es kommt nur immer wieder jeden Tag an unterschiedlichen Zeitpunkten folgende Fehlermeldung im Eventlog.

Empty page when restoring a file

Hello,

I have a small problem.
I have an LXC that weighs several TB. When I do a ‘file restore’ of my backups, the page displays nothing. I have several VMs and LXCs on 4 clustered machines and this is the only one that has this problem.

Is this due to the size of the machine backup? Or is it due to the way I make the backups?

Because I do the backups with the proxmox-backup-client command which allows me to write directly to the PBS.

ZFS send/receive full system replication to other host sufficient/possible

I've set up a PVE host with ZFS on root. Could I just do snapshots and and zfs send/receive to backup the whole system to a zfs backup server and easily restore the system in case of a disaster? Specifically reinstall Proxmox again with zfs on root and then just replicate the complete rpool with datasets from the backup to the reinstalled machine? This is a small home lab setup and I would like to stick to ZFS and not introduce Proxmox Backup Server as an additional layer - especially since...

Greetings. I have two server with proxmox vms on both. I want to make a cluster out of them. One of the servers has 10 virtual machines on it, other one is empty. I am concerned how would first server behave in thet scenario. Will my virtual machines be erased? Or they will remein intact?

I have a three server cluster that currently runs our primary application server and will be running additional servers over time. All servers are on the same rack/switch on 10Gbps ports + dedicated Corosync network via dedicated and isolated switch We have HA setup, Veeam running nightly backups, and PBS running hourly backups during business hours. Feature Request: Backup Restoration Jobs

Proxmox VE has the option to create/schedule backup jobs from within the Datacentre.

You can specify the VM's/CT's to be backed up and also what time.
It would be extremely useful to be able to do the same process but with Restorations

I can create something similar using the CLI and a bash script using vzdump

However I have not figured out a way when using Proxmox Backup Server.

Intel Arc A770 PCI passthrough to W11 stuck at PCIe x1 1.1 @ x1 1.1

I'm trying to figure out why the A770 that I'm passing into a W11 VM seems to be stuck a PCIe x1 speeds, I've checked this via:
  • GPU-Z
  • HWiNFO
  • Intel Graphics Software
All reporting the link speed as x1:
  • GPU-Z
    • Initially shows "PCIe x1 1.1 @ x1 1.1"
    • Then switches to just "PCI-Express"
    • Even when running the load test via the "?" icon
  • HWiNFO
    • PCIe v1.1 x1 (2.5 GT/s) @ x1 (2.5 GT/s)
  • Intel Graphics Software
    • PCIe -1 x-1

Fibre Channel SAN with Live Snapshot

Hello,

we like to integrate our Fibre Channel San to Proxmox.

We already did this successfully with LVM, but there we cannot make Live Snapshots.

But is there maybe a way to make it happen with a GlusterFS Volume to Connect 4 Nodes with a shared Filesystem to the Fibre Channel SAN?

The San also Supports ISCSI, but this does not bring anything because it has no ZFS Support.

Hi guys!
I am new to Proxmox and just learning the basics. I once had help with installing proxmox 7 and setting it up initially, but time goes by and I eventually updated PRoxmox to version 8.
Now it's time to add some hardware to the server and due to changes in the BIOS settings regarding pci, the network devices were apparently renamed.
Everything would be fine, I found working ones, changed the file /etc/network/interfaces and the network somehow worked.

Changing the IP address of one node in a cluster

Hello.

I have a cluster of nodes A, B and C. I wanted to change B's IP address.

On node B I did:

systemctl stop pve-cluster
systemctl stop corosync
pmxcfs -l

Then, on node B too, I changed its IP address on
/etc/network/interfaces
/etc/hosts
/etc/pve/corosync.conf
And incremented the config version on that last file

Then reboot

Then the PVE GUI showed a red sign on node B and question marks on its VMs. I tried unsuccessfully different things to solve it...

Adding a second HDD to PBS

Hi all,

I want ot add a second HDD to PBS/ I have added it to the server, initlaised it, when I add to datastore, I select ZFS, I tries to complete thie initialisation then it comes up with the error below. I do have another HDD but not dure why its throwing this error up, any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I dont think I am trying ot nest the datastore (well not on purposes) Look forward to hearing from you, and thanks in advance.

Hi,

today I was wondering why I did not receive an e-mail for a failed backup. So I went to the Notifications configuration to test the notification target with the "Test" button. It asks "Do you want to send a test notification to 'mail-to-admin'?". I click "Yes".

Then I get an error popup saying "Could not test target: could not notify via endpoint(s): mail-to-admin: Invalid input (500)".

Where are the logs for this, so I can debug what "Invalid input (500)" means? This error message...
