Hi,
I notice when a VM is created, the VMID.conf file is created on the Proxmox's /etc/pve/qemu-server/ directory even if the VM disks are on an NFS datastore. If the Proxmox has a local disk corruption or is unrecoverable, the VMID.conf is lost. Am I understand correctly it's the expected behavior? Unlike the VMware environment, it's common to keep .vmx and all VM's files in one location. Is it possible to do the same in Proxmox?

Hi all,
I been able to setup proxmox on a Cisco UCS.
I'm using Shared LOM ports, and on an access switch it's working fine.
Now I want to move the server to a core switch (cisco 4500x) instead.
The configuration is still the same, just like my access switch (cisco C2960x):

I'm wondering if there's a way to have something where a script is automatically ran whenever a CT is created.
Trying to automate adding some files to every CT created, be it from the pct command or the UI.
I'm assuming it can be done using hookscripts?

Hi there,
Since we still have PVE 6.4 we want/need to update it. However, we are facing a particular drawback.
The host hosts 25 virtual machines / containers and, when they are running, it is possible to do - for example - an apt-update without problems.
The problem arises when they are shut down, that apt command is no longer responding.

Hello everyone,
I’m running Proxmox 8.3.3, and after a brief power outage (just a few minutes) which caused my system to shut down abruptly, I’ve encountered an issue where the status of all my VMs and LXC containers is now showing as "Unknown." I also can't find the configuration files for the containers or VMs anywhere.

Hello, I had proxmox VE working on a mini pc. Had it installed on one of the nvme disks. I had to make changes to whole home network and server setup so decided to go for a fresh new installation of Proxmox VE on the same device. installation was quick, however I get no display after reboot. I tried 3-4 times. I get the same outcome. I wonder what I must be doing wrong?
Any suggestions? what all can I debug?

I wanted to configure a second network for some Windows Domain stuff - and have it isolated from other VMS and the rest of the network.
But also have internet access.
I've been following
this doc. but havent been able to get VMs to get out from behind the second bridge.

Hi all, I'm kind of baffled at what is going on for me. I had PCI passthrough working swimmingly, until one day it ceased. This lead me to once again spend several days re-reading all the different guides and people's experiences. There's some stuff that conflicts, because things are evolving, and a couple gaps.

I recently bought a small home server and installed Proxmox. On one of the VMs (Debian), I’m running Jellyfin and I want to passthrough the AMD Ryzen 7 5825U IGPU.
The Wi-Fi passthrough worked without any issues, and I think it's because it has its own IOMMU group.

Hi Everyone,
I raised the following with Asus support and they turned me back to Linux community saying they only support Windows 11 64bit, Ubuntu 23.10, Ubuntu 24.04lts and Red Hat Enterprise 9.3.
I am running Proxmox VE 8.3.1 on and Asus NUC 14 Pro (NUC14RVH-B). BIOS is current at RVMTL357.0045.2024.1008.1426.

I'm looking for a little assistance with a scenario that has me completely stumped. VERY new to ProxMox and only a moderate user of the Linux system. ich habe mir als zusätzliche Sicherungsplatte eine Seagate Exos X-X16 geholt. Die Festplatte ist direkt an einem SATA am Motherboard angeschlossen. Dieser ist Hot Plug fähig und auch im Bios aktiviert. Da es sich hierbei um eine Zusätzliche Sicherungsplatte handelt läuft diese nur gelegentlich. Hallo zusammen
ich bin aktuell am überlegen von meiner ESXi Struktur hin zu Proxmox zu wechseln.
Jedoch bin ich mir nicht ganz sicher ob dies überhaupt möglich ist....
Ich habe hier eine Hochverfügbare Struktur mit 2 Storages, 4 SAN Switchen und 4 ESXi-Hosts. Alles zusammen sind via 16GBit/s FibreChannel verbunden.

I just finished migrating my Windows 11 gaming VM from Unraid to Proxmox. Along the way I encountered some obstacles. To hopefully save other people some time I'm writing a detailed guide here on how I set up my system.

My automated backups fail due to a free space error, but the disks are far from full. When I invoke a manual backup to the same storage, it works fine. Here are the emailed logs from both situations. The backups are heading to a PBS instance running as an unRAID container which has an external USB 3.0 enclosure connected to it. If you have any ideas, I'd be thankful for some input! Thanks!

Hello,
I have a proxmox server with one static IP Adress, a SDN with a virtual net, dhcp and snat in the range of 192.168.200.0/0. the Client (Windows 11) has Internet connection without a problem. Now I installed wireguard client on Windows 11 and tried to load a config file from my router. This config file works with my notebook, but not in my proxmox guest. I cannot ping the other side and vice versa. I guess some config on the proxmox server is missing. Can anyone help? Thank you.
