Samba LXC redundancy

Good day,
I have the following scenario.

I set up a file storage server with SAMBA and LXC. It works absolutely fine. I have now around 8 TB of data on my storage.
I use a ZFS dataset for the storage, and a bind mount to the LXC. This works phantastically well.

However I now have a new problem. I would like to replicate the SMB server. I know there is the possibility of clustered SAMBA, but it seems to me a bit complicated.

[SOLVED] Add a node to the cluster with iSCSI shared storage

Dear forum members,

After adding a newly installed PVE node to an existing cluster, I noticed that it does not automatically connect to the shared iSCSI storage. While the storage appears in the GUI, it doesn't create any associated VGs and LVs.

Access to iSCSI LUNs is organized through multipath.

Could you please recommend a safe method for adding a new node to such clusters?

Restrict users on Resource usage

As part of a migration from VMWare Cloud Director, we are trying to find a way to restrict teams to allocations of CPU, Storage, Memory with flexibility on what to create within these allocations. For example Team A has an allocation of CPU, Storage and Memory and within those limits they can create whichever VMs they would like.

Is this a possible configuration in Proxmox?

Method to verify single chunk

I wonder if anyone has script allowing to verify single chunk.

I have a problem with my PBS installation containing backup of large vm. Last verification of old snapshot discovered few bad chunks and I would like to avoid next whole snapshot verification. My goal is to verify if there is a problem with storage or with verification itself.

Hi

newbie Proxmox owner here. testing in our environment with a well established VMware cluster and Veeam backup server

when deploying the Veeam worker to Proxmox, it fails with a 'certificate with thumbprint is invalid' error - and the cert was created by the process, as I can see it in the MMC Certs repository. definitely valid.

(I've managed to add the VLAN to the worker network card during deployment, and set the IP via DHCP so it actually talks back - other issues for Veeam to fix..)...

Email delivery errors with Google Workspace

Hi,

I set up my Proxmox VE environment including Proxmox backup about 4 weeks ago now. Ever since I have gotten email delivery errors. Some mail goes through, some does not.

It's been configured to send email using the google SMTP server with TLS on port 465. This is the error I get:
alt1.aspmx.l.google.com[2404:6800:4008:c13::1b]:25: Permission denied

I have no idea why it's trying port 25. Nowhere have I set or can find anything suggesting it would use port 25. I picked TLS and port...

I've been having an issue with CTs recently on proxmox, I connected one of my nas's disk on my pve, for VMs it worked just fine but when I tried launching a CT I had an error

aktuell versuche ich, ein bestehendes Image innerhalb von Proxmox zu verkleinern.
Im Betriebssystem habe ich bereits den belegten Platz reduziert. Im zweiten Schritt wollte ich über die Kommandozeile mit der Funktion qemu-img dass das Image verkleinern.

No vga output post systemd-boot using 6.8.12-4-pve kernel, 6.2.16-20-pve works

Hi everyone - I recently upgraded to 8.3.0. When using the 6.2.16-20-pve kernel, I get vga output. However, when using 6.8.12-4-pve kernel, I get no vga output. I'm using basic framebuffer-style console. I have a Ryzen based system, which doen't have integrated graphics - so using the ASRock rack m2_vga adapter: https://www.asrockrack.com/general/productdetail.asp?Model=M2_VGA

Does anyone have any ideas about why this isn't working, and what I could try?

Instructions for adding external disk in Proxmox and using it in Windows Server VM for backup

LXC starten nichtmehr nach Stromausfall

Guten Morgen,

nach einem Stromausfall konnte erst der gesamte Host nicht starten, "failed to initalize Ramdisk". Nach einigen Reboots startete das System aber wieder.

Jetzt ist es so, dass die eine VM auf dem Host normal gestartet ist, die LXC Container aber leider nicht.

Disk Speeds inside a VM.

This is my issue.

My proxmox host has 2 SSD's. One is for the host itself, and the other is for the virtual Disks for the VMs and containers.
If I run hdparm or dd directly on the host, I get speeds on the VM SSD disk of around 370-390 MB/s, which is what I would expect.

If I go into a VM (doesnt matter if its windows or Ubuntu), the write speeds drop to 60-70MB/s with caching off, and around 110-130MB/s with write back enabled.
And with write back enabled, I get file transfers pausing for...

Ubuntu 20 VM Much slower than in ESXi

Given that Broadcom is essentially abandoning small businesses I decided to explore Proxmox for our growing data center.

As a start I decided to do a simple test using a Mac Mini that I already have ESXi installed on and load Proxmox on another drive so it can boot up either hypervisor.
Both ESXi and Proxmox are running off of their own Samsumg EVO 870 SATA SSD

I am new to everything: new to the forum, new to Proxmox, and new to Linux.

For my IT startup, I’ve decided to build my entire IT infrastructure on my server using Proxmox.

Currently, I’m facing what is probably a simple issue: I want to set up a RAIDZ2 cold storage pool, but it consists of different HDD sizes (3x10 TB + 3x12 TB). However, Proxmox gives me an error, stating that it cannot create the RAIDZ2 because the drives have different sizes.

Ceph integrated with Proxmox and Dashboard (Grafana) - Need Advices

Hi,

Not a problem but a need of advices about Dashboard to monitor Ceph.

We use Ceph, installed with Proxmox GUI.
Like the Proxmox/influxDB/Grafana stack, I'm looking to aggregate Ceph monitoring data in Prometheus (for what i've seen, one of the best options) and then display thoses data with Grafana.

But connecting Ceph with Prometheus can be done 2 ways (at least) :
