ISCSI question

good day,

i have a PVE cluster that i setup and have connected a symbology ISCSI drive. I was able to install an OS on my cluster using the ISCSI for the data drive successfully. Everything was working correctly until i came back into the office today (Monday) and for some reason the IP changed on the ISCSI device and i lost my HDD for my VM. i was able to remap the ISCSI connection successfully but i was not able to access that VM HDD. Keep consistent host version

We are slowly building our cluster and every time we go to add a new host to the cluster, the PVE version updates, so now I have to either shutdown or move VM's to update the hosts, so they are all the same. How can we stay on the same version as we add new hosts? Now, 8.3 came out and we are not ready to update to this release yet. If I add a new host and do the update, it will either be 8.2.x or 8.3.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Windows VM freezes after backup to PMBS

Hi all we have an issue that I cannot solve from all the reading I do online.

We have a 3 node proxmox cluster running 3 very critical security monitoring servers.

We have a daily backlup of our VM's that runs at 11am. One Windows VM (most important one of course!) freezes after the backup has completed sometimes.

The backup is perfect and completes successfully.

It does this probably every 2-4 days randomly. Only way to restore the VM to operational is to restart the node.

Any idea...

Policykit not starting after update...

After returning from sleep my VM's were unresponsive so I decided to reboot.

Suddenly policykit is not starting anymore:

error:
PHP: 
polkitd[2100]: Lost the name org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1 - exiting

I ran ; apt update && apt upgrade no difference

kernel: 6.8.12-2-pve

Looks like dbus is not providing the org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1 named connection....

I've tried to search for a solution, but cannot find anything.

What can be wrong here ?

VM problem freezes randomdly

Hello everyone, I have a problem with two virtualized servers with Proxmox and I am relatively new to working with this system, the Windows Server 2022 virtual machine freezes for a while and then works again, if anyone has any reference to the problem I would greatly appreciate it, the Proxmox system is now updated as is the Windows Server.

Hight rate of dns queries for PBS from PVE

Dear,

I installed adguardhome as my home network dns "server"

I have a homelab with a pve server hosting a couple of vm ( nextcloud, influxdb...)
those vm are backuped to remote PBD instance ( kindly offered by tuxis.nl) and to a local PBS ( lorath-adm.phi8.ovh)

the statistics page of adguardhome show that almos 45% of DNS requests served by adguardhome are for the two PBS hostnames.

Is this normal ?
How/where can I start investigating/diagnosing this issue ?

Slow Verification (Read IO Capped)

I have a strange issue with PBS or maybe ZFS where it seems like read IO is capped until there is a high enough bandwidth write at which case read speed increases. I can't say for sure what is causing this behavior.

PBS is running in a VM with the sata controllers/cards/M2 passed through. The main pool drives are 7200 RPM HHDs with Optane SSDs for special vdev.

I've messed with several different zfs parameters that others said helped with slow reads such as: zfs_vdev_sync_read_max_active...

Issue Backing up PVE host with PBS

Hello, I recently installed PBS and got to work backing up two VMs. One went off without a hitch and the other I received the following error every time I backed it up (around 4% complete):

ERROR: job failed with err -5 - Input/output error

Upon looking into that error I stumbled upon the backup logs (/var/log/proxmox-backup/tasks/) on PBS and found the following issues relating to VM 100 (the VM with the backup issue):

Hello Guys,

i am thinking about to integrate Proxmox Mailgatewy. One question is: How is quarantine used for Shared Mailboxes (Exchange)? I cant login with a shared mailbox cause the User is deactivate in Active Directory, so how can a shared mailbox user release a mail from quarantine?

All the 3 nodes in our current proxmox production cluster have a AMD EPYC 7302P 16-Core cpu. Now we have to replace one node with a machine which has a AMD EPYC 9124 cpu.

Will VM migrations work with this different cpu setup without restarting the VMs if a VM is moved from a node to another node with a different cpu?

all server ports busy

Hi,

We have PMG cluster with 17 nodes. Nodes 1 - Nodes 4 are for receiving mail and and the rest are for sending.
In recent days, users who send us emails have been receiving a error all server ports busy. We have 24654 domains in the cluster.

I would be grateful for any advice. We have already tried various settings including postfix template but without success.

Layout for PMG, Exchange and Active Sync

Hello,

we are currently running a local Exchange installation. Mail is fetched via Popcon (so there is an annoying delay when receiving mails). Active Sync is possible through Port Forwarding on our firewall to the Exchange host (access is restricted to our VPN and some IP ranges of carriers for mobile access).

Of course, not the setup you would want to use today. I plan on using PMG and making it possible to instantly receive mails.

Hi everyone.

New guy here, and very new with Proxmox PVE.

I've been having an issue when I schedul a shutdown for my VM server.

QCNFA765 doesn't work properly when passed through to a VM

Does anyone know how to passthrough a Qualcomm wifi card (QCNFA765), so that it works inside the VM? I've tried everything, the VM's even recognizes the card (on lspci, as that it exists). The card just fails to start properly, I'm thinking it's a driver issue, or that I configured something wrong with IOMMU.
I've thought of trying to run hostapd on proxmox itself, but I don't think the system got drivers for it either. I found debian some debian drivers, but proxmox won't allow me to...
