I'm trying to set up a remote sync to a friend's RPI for my Proxmox Backup Server. I've been using this script that uses Rclone with an encrypted remote (Crypt) on a schedule:

Backup Using PBS Datastore

Hello all,

I am trying to backup my vms on a PVE server but each time I do I get the following:

ERROR: VM 100 qmp command 'backup' failed - backup connect failed: command error: namespace not found

What namespace is this talking about. I have mounted an iSCSI target on my PBS, and then shared that datastore with the PVE server.

I am currently working on an automated rollout for UCS systems using Proxmox. To achieve this, Univention requires an existing network interface so that my Ansible playbooks can execute the profile setup and join setup to create a Primary Node (or at least test if the playbooks are executed at all).

Hello Proxmox team,

Recently, I've been learning more about the Proxmox VE Storage Manager and other Proxmox internal commands.
I was curious about how to create a dataset using the pvesm command instead of WebUI.

Firstly, I created a dataset on my ZFS pool, added it via Datacenter > Storage > Add > ZFS, and filled in all the details. Then I checked the /etc/pve/storage.cfg showing:

[SOLVED] Proxmox cloud-init not working on Ubuntu 24 Server/Desktop

Hello all,

I'm in the process of adopting Ubuntu 24 as the next upgrade in my infra but on validation it looks like cloud-init doesn't work anymore.

My host:

root@proxmox-server:~# pveversion
pve-manager/8.1.4/ec5affc9e41f1d79 (running kernel: 6.5.11-8-pve)

Later edit:

Turns out that cloud-init config is disabled by default on U24 server/desktop.
To enable it AFTER you've added a cloud-init drive and applied the pve config you need to run the below command and reboot:

Hallo zusammen,
seit einiger Zeit bekomme ich auf den Hosts eines Clusters folgende Fehlermeldungen:

pve01 pmxcfs[2580]: [status] notice: RRD update error /var/lib/rrdcached/db/pve2-vm/101: /var/lib/rrdcached/db/pve2-vm/101: illegal attempt to update using time 1727883453 when last update time is 1733478135 (minimum one second step)

Im Forum habe ich gefunden, dass der Fehler folgendermaßen umgangen...

macOS Sequoia Can't log Apple ID and its services

Hiya!
I hope you're doing well.

Have anyone find a way to log in with Apple ID on macOS Sequoia?
Since Beta 2 to Release Candidate, its not possible to login with Apple ID account.
Apparently might be a new Apple's feaure in order to prevent running macOS System on not authorized Apple Hardware.

Only its possible to use Apple ID account and its services on macOS Sonoma or lower.

MergerFS setup for LXC

Hello, I am planning a setup where I will likely be using MergerFS to create a pool of multiple drives for an LXC. I have not been able to find documentation on how the best practices for that would be. Installing MergerFS on the host and using a bind mount to pass it through to the LXC should work but would it be better to use mergerFS inside the LXC instead?

I have a backed up VM that it’s total size is 7.6 TB tried to restore it to a zfs pool with 10 TB available space to use the restore failed and got this error message.

Having a weird issue where my server juts randomly hard locks and loses all connectivity.

Looks like a Kernel bug but I really don't know where to look. Did a google search and didn't find much of anything.

Hi all,
i have an extremely simple question that i just. can't. figure. out. i think i have tried about every combination possible, so i just gave up and am asking for someone to take 30 seconds and write it out for me.
simple question: i need a proxmox backup scheduled between 8:00 and 22:00, and i need it to run every 2 hours during that window. can someone type me the syntax for that? appreciate it.

Hello all!

I'm having a bear of an issue trying to figure out why my windows server VM suddenly went offline. For context, I'd been having a BlueScreening issue as a result of using iSCSI, in an attempt to fix it my colleague unchecked the 'Use LUNs Directly' option (since we run 3 or 4 VMs off of iSCSI), and just like that....

Veeam Silent Data Corruption

Hello Everyone,

Our development team has been super busy qualifying Veeam integration for our Proxmox customers.

Using internal tools designed to test the integrity of snapshots, we're seeing that Veeam 12.2 backups of live virtual machines contain silent data corruption and that the backups are not "point in time" consistent.

We can reliably reproduce the issue with LVM, ZFS, and other backing storage (including Blockbridge). The issue does not reproduce on PBS.

Proxmox Reboot for no reason, then stuck in a bootloop

Hi friends,

I had Proxmox randomly shutdown/try to reboot at night, then stuck in a bootloop for a few minutes and then die for the second time now in the last week.

I can only restart the server by cutting power, then it'll reboot normally. My proxmox server has been running more than fine on a Lenovo m720q with an i5 8400t and 64gb of ram for months now.

The logs prior to the first shutdown/reboot are nothing special it seems:

Problem with vmbr0, slow upload, PVE 8.2.2

Hail to everyone, i have a strange problem with a new proxmox ve 8.2.2 server.
The machine is a Supermicro server with 2 Intel 1Gbe.

Everything is fine but the upload speed, it is very slow. My wan is FTTC with 80Mbit down 40Mbit up.

Here is some info:
