Sudden loss of network connectivity

Overnight, my Proxmox node stopped sending network traffic.

I hadn’t made any changes, maybe there was some update, but the web admin is inaccessible, as well as SSH.

Booting the system to a live Ubuntu image shows that the port will get a IP address and network services function normally. My router isn’t blocking the traffic, and has given the NIC the reserved IP address.

However, ip a shows that, except for local host, no interface gets an IP, even when switching the cable to other...

Disk exceeding boot size?

Hi

I got a guest VM that runs an NFS server. I have given it a 750 GB boot disk, but when I check the disk size in local-lvm it says the VM disk size is 805 GB.
In the guest OS, the VM still has ~45 GB of free space. So why is the VM disk so big on the local-lvm?

My issue right now is that the local-lvm is full, and one VM gets I/O error when booting up.

I carefully planned my VM disk sizes, and even left some for spare by only going for 750 GB on the NFS server. And yet I have somehow...

CPU bug on raid1

I recently got a R730 Dell PowerEdge and a PCiE dual M.2 card for my boot drive for RAID1.
I used clover as the bootloader to get proxmox to boot since by default the R730 isn't able to boot from PCiE storage devices.
The installation process went fine, but when I booted into the server, I get this message:

Hi all,

I've been working on setting up my MSA2040 (SAS) to be available in more then just sharing a raw LVM due to the fact that offering a raw lvm only supports diskimages and containers.
The idea was to also have (shared) storage (directory)presented to pve for backup/snippets/templates ( all which is unavailable when using a raw lvl basically)

Node crashes on migration of vm - host is PVE 8.0.4

I have a single node in a 3 node cluster that ALWAYS crashes on incoming migration. I have reinstalled the OS twice. This began after upgrading to v8.x, and was not an issue on v7.x. I have tried this with an addon USB 2.5GBE dedicated migration lan and with the onboard 1GBE shared lan. Hosts are Beelink SER5pro. I just did an `apt update && apt upgrade -y && reboot` on the erring host.

1. Right-click a VM, click migrate
2. Choose pve2, no other options

Very slow restore

Hello,

I'm restoring a VM from a Hetzner storage box which is mounted as SMB share.
This storage box is not slow at all. I have used it in the past to restore Esxi VMs and it was very fast.

But the restore is VERY slow on Proxmox.
This is a 500GB VM, and it has been two hours and it's still at 2%. At this rate it will take days.

Is this common with Proxmox?

The local drives are NVMe.

I have followed (almost) all instructions I've found here on the forums and elsewhere, and have my GeForce RTX 3060 PCI Device GPU passthrough setup.
The Xubuntu 22.04 VM client says it's happily running nvidia CUDA drivers - but I can't Ollama to make use of the card.

`nvtop` says: 0/0/0% - all waiting.

I don't know where else to look.
Any ideas?

Hope this is the right place, since it feels like the issue may still be in the GPU forwarding...?

I am running a small cluster (3 x AMD EPYC 7313P, 448GB RAM, 10 x PCI 4.0 Enterprise NVMe drives in a RAIDZ2-0 array with PVE 8.2.3) with all three nodes set up using 2 bonded 10Gbps fiber connections for migrations and admin.

I am running into an issue where one of the three nodes is intermittently running really high IO Delay numbers (30-50% at times) while the two identical servers running the same load have an IO Delay of 0.03% pretty much all the time. I am pretty sure it isn't...

Replicate two PBS servers

I have two PBS servers (PBS01 and PBS02). I want to replicate PBS02 data to PBS01. How do I setup?

I added PBS02 to PBS01 using Configuration--->Remote
But don't understand how to replicate PBS02.

Help with Steam running Horizon Zero Dawn on a Proxmox VM

I realize this isn't exactly a Proxmox problem, but I thought maybe someone else here has experience with this kind of setup.

I currently use Proxmox running on a headless server hosting a Windows 10 VM with a GPU passthrough. It works and all is well. However, I am switching my gaming VM over to Linux Mint 22 and I am having growing pains.

Promox v8.2.4 server:
Motherboard: Asrock X470D4U
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
RAM: 64Gb

PBS Root Disk Full can't sync, backup or run garbage collection.

A few days ago, my Proxmox Backup Server filled up in the root folder. I managed to delete some large log files then and get functional.
Last night during a remote sync it filled up and my job failed.
Could somebody please help me diagnose the issue?

Veeam Backup and Recovery supports Proxmox as of 28 Aug 2024

Former VMware converts to Proxmox may be missing Veeam. No longer. Veeam 12.2 supports Proxmox as a first class citizen. There is a "community" edition of Veeam Backup and Recovery which is free as in beer and supports up to 10 VMs. It does still need a Windows box but the database can be Postgresql so no need for MSSQL.

A lot of enterprise VMware (Broadcom) users have been putting off migration to Proxmox waiting for this. I know this because I am one of them and I have been doing...

Supermicro X11DPi-NT NIC X722 Firmware NVM Update

Hello,
i have a fresh installed PVE 7.3 on my Supermicro X11DPi-NT Mainboard with 2x X722 NICs 10GB-T RJ-45 LOM (LAN on Manboard).
Sometimes the Adapter go down and lost Network for several seconds, then reconnect.

I have read about Problems with X722 Network Adapters.
There is a Solution, it has to Upgrade the NVM X722 Firmware to newer Version. (my Version is 3.33)

I have found a tutorial on how to update the firmware, but cant find the Firmware anywere. Wait for reply from Supermicro...

issues with plex hardware transcoding after migrating backup to new system

I have a cluster. one of them has plex on it. somehow something got corrupted or disk dying. i have weekly backups with proxmox backup server. I restored the backup from the backup server to another computer. Same specs as the original. it will no longer hardware transcode. plex shows the igpu i can manually select. i have it to auto but i also selected the igpu. i have clicked the box to turn of hardware trancoding saved and clicked again to turn it back on. i have restarted the system as...

OpnSense VM locked/hung, restarted, now PVE unreachable, blank screen

I was trying to play with OpnSense (then PF Sense) and the VM was locked, not going anywhere. I tried to shut it down but it was hung. I waited for a couple of hours but after that even node shutdown won't work. Now when I force CPU stop and start from the physical button, I get this blank screen:

Not event the Gigabyte startup screen. The web console doesn't work, SSH times out (so host is now down?). What are my options?

notification when qdevice missing

What is the best way to handle qdevice going offline?
I have a two node cluster with 1 qdevice to maintain quorum, and I just realized the qdevice has been offline all day, but never got a notification or any warning there is missing a vote. Outside of monitor server uptime via ping and such, is there another recommended option to know when there is missing votes?
