Running the latest PBS as a stand-alone I've ran into an issue then machine becomes unavailable.
Both console and network no longer respond. Sometimes console seems sluggish to respond, then stops.

My observation and impression is this is after proxmox-backup-daily-update ran.
To that end I disabled all of the below and re-enable the timers after 24 hours each.

proxmox-backup-daily-update.timer
apt-daily-upgrade.timer
man-db.timer

only proxmo-backup-daily-update.timer now remains disabled...

Hi all,
I am new in Proxmox and have this issue.
My configuration: My environment is hosted in a Acer Nitro 5 Notebook which was released back around 2019.

• Proxmox VE Version 8.2.4 (Kernel Version : 6.8.8.4-pve)
• CPU: Intel Core i7-8750H 12 Core @ 2.20GHz (1 Socket)
• RAM: 16GB DDR4
• GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX1060 (Mobile) @ 6GB

Issue:
I am able to see "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" as my GPU. How am I sure that its the GPU? When I remove the PCI from the Hardware...

Hey all! Long time ProxMox fan, have used it to great success in many scenarios.

I'm very interested in migrating all of my backend servers and services to Devuan as it is far more stable and easy to manage than Debian. I know I'm going off the reservation here, but is it possible to build ProxMox (even an older version) on Devuan? Would I just follow the Wheezy instructions? Which version would I be eventually be installing? Are there still security updates to the older versions...

Hi

Every so often, all of a sudden, all guest VMs terminate. Can you please help me troubleshoot why that happens?

I see Bulk start VMs and Containers in the log:


dmesg has the proxmox host has normal start-up messages. Nothing for why the VMs were terminated.

All VMs are running Windows 11.

Should I be looking anywhere else for logs?

I've had a Proxmox install running rock solid for months and all of a sudden it's randomly rebooting. It can run for 5 minutes or 5 hours. The weird thing is, I've basically u
sed up all of the collective posts on the subject and still can't track it down. I'm now at the point where I really just want to know what the cause is for my own sanity. haha

I can't find anything in syslog. I literally watched it reboot and it just goes right from nothing to --REBOOT--.

So i have a old CentOS 7 LXC in proxmox.

Is there any way i could upgrade this to something newer like almalinux ?
Has anyone tried this kind of thing before ?

I would prefer to avoid having to create a new lxc\vm and migrate everything over to it !

Hi,
today I begin to use the very interesting proxmox on a minipc. I 've a 256 gb drive . During installation i 've set install partition at 128 gb. Now I see a local drive of 44 gb and local-lvm of 64.88 gb.

firstly I 'd like to understand how to use the other 128 gb ssd space as virtual drive and secondly how to change the local and local-lvm size .

I am hoping some might be able to help on this. I am trying to setup a NFS datastore on the PBS and it is pointing to a Windows 2016 NFS mount. I have it configured and was able to create the datastore, right files from the PVS under root and I can see the .chunk and NS dir created but when I go to do a backup I am getting an error that it can’t access it. (Seen error 13 and 22 as well)

Hi, I've been trying really hard to overcome this myself, but here I am. Please halp.

I'm setting up a new install of Proxmox 8.1.3 on Dell R720. I'm expecting significantly higher speeds than what I'm getting during ZSTD backups. Currently there is only one container in it (at idle). Nothing else is going on.

34GiB container backs up LOCALLY at speed of 31MiB/s - that takes over 18 minutes

The version of pve is 8.2.2.
I executed the apt upgrade,and then I reboot the machine.
SSH and WebUI also can't be used.

Hallo,

ich habe vor Jahren schon mit Proxmox geliebäugelt und dann einiges getestet.
Leider bakam ich damals einen HBA (IBM Lenovo M1215) für einen TrueNAS VM nicht ohne Fehlermeldungen durchgereicht. Ich habe viel probiert, es leider am Ende nicht geschafft.
Mit ESXi lief es damals direkt fehlerfrei und ich bin dank der kostenlosen Version dort gelandet. Das ist nun Geschichte.
Aus diesem Grund plane ich meinen neuen Homeserver.
Gelesen habe ich auch schon viel, ob für mich TrueNAS Scale...

Hello, I hope I can get some help here.
I am using jellyfin as media server. And it stopped working somewhere between now and like a year ago or so. I don't use it very often. So some update must have changed something which I didn't observe - so no clue what actually was the change that broke it - bummer!
The thing is: When I now install a fresh new debian VM (or Arch or whatever) and then install the NVIDIA driver like mentioned here...

I've seen WD red nvme drives as Samsung PM9A1 or PM9A3 .

Additionally I tried using the LXC ID Mapper tool and I was getting errors such as that XX ID is already mapped.

I had mounted the qemu-server folder to a container where i was tesing an app i wrote for some automation. when deleting the project file, forgot to unmout the qemu-folder and deleted all the vm conf files. ive looked up past threads about this and recreated couple of my VMS. but i had a NAS which had couple of extra disks mounted differently and i cannot seem to find how to recreate those lines. could anyone help?. the NAS is still running and i have the `ps` output of it. any help would...
