This is my first post. I've been dabbling with Proxmox for about a year now, and have usually been able to find the answers I need in the excellent documentation or the abundance of community discussions. How to make VM ignore missing luks drives?

Hi. I have a luks-encrypted external hard drive plugged into my host machine. I use the host machine to open/decrypt and map the drive to /dev/mapper/my-luks on the host. Then I have that location assigned to a VM as a secondary data (non-boot) drive, which will mount it. Everything works great! Except sometimes I do not have the drives plugged into the host. In this scenario, the VM fails to boot. I get an error saying, "Could not open '/dev/mapper/my-luks': No such file or directory"...

H310 - IT mode needed?

Hi.

I finally acquired a server to play with: PowerEdge 720 with an H310.

I will be installing Proxmox on the server on a sata SSD connected to the 2.0 sata port that's noramlly used for the optical drive. I will fill the drive slots with a mix of SSDs and 1 or 2 4TB HDDs. Maybe some nvme riser cards in the future...

Would I get the best performance by flashing the H310 into IT mode. I have read many different articles about it. The general consensus is that it's a good idea to flash into...

Change hotkey to exit noVNC full screen?

I've tried to find something in what noVNC docs I could see, but I'm wondering if there is a way to change the hotkey used to exit fullscreen mode in noVNC.

It would be nice to be able to use vim, and hit Esc and not have it exit fullscreen mode.

Is it possible to customize that?

Web interface issue

I just set up a server running Proxmox 8 and it seems to be working, but anytime I reboot my pc the web interface refuses to connect and acts as if the server is offline. I can ping it and try to ssh into it but it refuses to connect even with the correct username/password. Using another PC will bring the web interface up but wont allow a login

I'm brand new to Ceph. I have a 3 node PVE cluster that i have Ceph installed on.. I thought I had it down when i was able to make separate public, private and corosync networks, create pools, CephFS, RBD's and migrate my VM disks to RBD's. But now I'm trying to set up Docker in a VM for Frigate and I can't get anything to mount. I've tried numerous guides for CephFS and RBD, but I clearly don't know what I'm doing. Random freezes due to host CPU type

Hey guys,

I am facing random freezes of the whole on Proxmox 8.2.4 with the newest kernel (also older kernels), the newest microcode updates, disabled c-states, Eco mode on Ryzen 9 7950X. I found out that the issue just occurs if VMs have the host CPU type and especially with Windows VMs. I have to reboot the host manually that it cames back, I cannot type anything, it just don't respond anymore. Has anyone the same issues and a solution for it?

Accidentally deleted qemu-server folder. help recreate config file for a VM

I had mounted the qemu-server folder to a container where i was tesing an app i wrote for some automation. when deleting the project file, forgot to unmout the qemu-folder and deleted all the vm conf files. ive looked up past threads about this and recreated couple of my VMS. but i had a NAS which had couple of extra disks mounted differently and i cannot seem to find how to recreate those lines. could anyone help?. the NAS is still running and i have the `ps` output of it. any help would...

Intel Nuc 13 Pro Thunderbolt Ring Network Ceph Cluster

Hello,

I do have a problem with my Proxmox intel Nuc Cluster.

It contains 3 Intel Nuc 13 Pro and uses its 2 Thunderbolt Ports to form a ring networt for ceph communication.
Proxmox/Ceph – Full Mesh HCI Cluster w/ Dynamic Routing

To handle the Network routing, I am using FRR and ospf.

cannot move vm disk

I try to move a vm disk in zfs from one pool to another via gui.
I got this error:

Code: 
create full clone of drive scsi1 (fs01-SSD:vm-996-disk-2)
TASK ERROR: storage migration failed: timeout: no zvol device link for 'vm-996-disk-0' found after 300 sec.

Already searched in form but only what I can find to this error message are vms that will not boot after restart the node.

I've started trying to setup a Proxmox cluster to improve redundancy and uptime in my home lab. I am currently using ZFS replication at 1-minutely intervals which is nice but I don't like that it involves data loss up to a minute back.

Create datastore in S3 bucket

Hi,
I succsfullly mount a S3 bucekt to my PBS server.
I can create files and delete without any problem.
But when I trying to create a datastore that pointing to my s3 bucket, its always failing around 70% with the next error:
2024-08-17T04:53:02+03:00: TASK ERROR: unable to create chunk store 'yokprx' subdir "/s3_buckets/yok-pbs-backup-repo/yok_prx/.chunks/b8c6" - EIO: I/O error
What could be the problem?

Can't edit any options (guests, pve etc)

New 8.2.4 install.

I can't edit any options in the web interface. For example, I forgot to turn on "start at boot" for one of the guests but I can't edit it.
All edit buttons etc are greyed out.

I think my user isn't privileged, but I am using the unconstrained root@pam user?!

Any ideas?

Proxmox 8 Installation on Dell r515

Just beginning to tinker with proxmox.
I have a Dell r515 with the below specs:
2x Amd Procs
32GB ram
6x 1TB SAS drives on H700 raid. configured raid 1 on 2 disks to install proxmox on.

I tried to install TrueNas scale and was hopeful the remaining 4 disks can be used on the TrueNas, but it could not get detected. I tried enable IOMMU, but unsure if I am doing it right.
Any pointers would be great.

Why nvme name changes after install.

This is probably simple question. I am installing proxmox on first nvme disk which I guess should be nvme0n1 but after install I see OS disk is nvme1n1
I even tried installing pve to second this but after install I still see /dev/nvme1n1 in gui.
So how can I install PVE to nvme0n1 ?
AFAIK 0n1 is first disk and 1n1 is second disk on system.

Bitte um Eure Unterstützung bezüglich Speicherplatz-Management - bitte um Nachsicht, da ich mich erst in Proxmox schon langsam einarbeite.

Ich habe Proxmox auf einem (Mini-)PC installiert und eine Standard-Installation durchgeführt.
Nachdem ich einige Container erstellt habe, bekomme ich seit kurzem Meldungen bezüglich Speicherplatzprobleme

Bitte um Eure Hilfe, wie ich an die Sache rangehe und wie ich auch das Problem löse.

NFS mouning on LXC container. Permission denied

I have been trying to mount NFS shares on LXCs for the past three days and I couldn't get it to work. I have seen guides on CIFS/SMB shares but nothing on NFS. I have tried mounting using the GUI but I kept get permission denied error.

I have also followed TheHellSite's guide but I couldn't get NFS working. I get this error when trying to mount the share to the proxmox host after editing /etc/fstab:

Hallo zusammen,

Ich möchte IOMMU auf meinem V8.2.2 aktivieren.
Hierzu habe ich folgende Schritte unternommen:

in /etc/default/grub die Zeile GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet intel_iommu=on" eingetragen/ersetzt
danach update-grub
danach in /etc/modules folgendes hinzugefügt
vfio
vfio_iommu_type1
vfio_pci
vfio_virqfd
zum Schluss: update-initramfs -u -k all

im Bios danach VT-d aktiviert.
