I have a server from OVH that I am running Proxmox 8 on and a few VMs with Ubuntu 22 under it.

The OVH server requires custom config with Proxmox if you want to use multiple IPs as explained here (in the link below, look at the part about ADVANCE servers, it is the lesser complicated configuration from the rest and what I am using)...

I have been successfully running an iSCSI setup for a while, but since updating to PVE8 and having a less than stable experience, I became less certain that my functional setup is also a supported one. I would appreciate any insight into what might be off here.

Because the nature of the network I work in having multiple data centers is mandatory. With our recent deployments we will reach 26 node's in 7 locations. I've strongly advocated purchasing support from promox as well as phasing out VMware systems. Some of the more ridged SA's are digging in there heel's. Folgende Anwendungsfälle habe ich bisher angedacht:
  • Proxmox auf 2 x 240gb SSD (ZRAID1)
  • VM Container auf 2 x TB SSD:
    Hier nen LVN Thin benutzen? Möchte auch Snapshots für LXC container machen können.

Files are not deleted from local-lvm

Good morning, my English is poor, I'll try to explain my question

I'm using ProxMox, and I created a VM for storage, everything is working, but there's a problem, after deleting files from the Storage VM the local-lvm volume is not reduced, I put a 3GB ISO, there were 6GB occupied, there were 9GB in the local-lvm, then I deleted the 3GB ISO, and the local-lvm still has 9GB

It seems that some kind of temporary file remains, how do I make lvm reduce the size and behave with deletions correctly?

What I am trying to achieve:
I have a VM where I through a GPU and a USB card. My goal is to use this VM as my daily PC.
I also want nested VM to be enabled because I want to use WSL.

What I did:
I upgraded my PVE from 6.4 to 7.1 so I could set up a Windows 11 VM. I had no problems with it and everything worked as intended after the upgrade.
Nested VM is already enabled.

Hello,

I just set up a Proxmox VE 8.2 server with a ZFS RAID 0 filesystem, but it seems that the VLAN tagging is not working correctly.

Here’s what I did:

  1. I created a bond (bond0) between two physical interfaces (LACP, the networking infrastructure it's configure accordingly ).
  2. I then created a bridge (vmbr0) with bond0 as the slave.
Using the vmbr0 bridge, I created a VLAN interface (vmbr0.200) and assigned it an IP address and a gateway.

Failed Fail Over

I have a two node cluster w/ qdevice. I have an ha group setup (mainly to set priority node) and using replication to keep data in sync on both devices.
I yanked the plug on the first device, and waited a few minutes. Everything failed over great, I was very impressed. Took a little longer than I expected for it to notice, but it did it all like a champ.

Then I plugged in node 1, and watched it fail back. It did this as well, all but one VM.

Hello, everyone, I had my Proxmox hook to a router and it had a local IP, Then I remove the router and set a static ip and double check at /etc/network/interfaces, and a it look correct, but wont load up, so I connect direct to the server and it still showing a local ip and not a public ip, please help

seit längerem habe ich nach einer Möglichkeit gesucht den Proxmox Host (PVE) zu sichern. Dann ist mir eingefallen, dass sich der Proxmox Backup Server dazu eignet. Neben VMs und LXCs kann man auch den Host sichern. Die Ausgangslage bei mir ist, dass der Backup Server auf einem separaten Server läuft. Die Anleitung funktioniert auch, wenn z.B. der Backup Server in einer VM/LXC auf dem Host laufen würde.

Moving lvm raw storage from container/lxc to vm/qemu

I have an LXC container with a mountpoint defined in /etc/pve/lxc/101.conf:

In my /etc/pve/storage.cfg, I have:

Is it possible to move this storage to a VM/QEMU harddisk? The idea is I want to replace the LXC with a VM, so need to move the storage.

I'm assuming this is not possible with the UI, as I can detach...

I have a small three node cluster. There are two pools with three OSDs each. Each node hosts one OSD from each pool (one HDD, one SSD). Replication rule is 3/2.

When one of the OSDs in one of the nodes started acting up, I decided to not just replace the OSD but to also replace the entire (for different reasons).

So I set up a new node with identical OSDs and added it to the pool. Ceph started copying PGs to the new node. After a while I shut down the old node so that my pool again...

Slow performance on Ceph per VM

Hi

I'm testing Ceph on 4 Proxmox Servers. Each Server have 4x Intel SSDPE2KE032T8 NVMe Disks. All 16 Disks have 3 Partitions witch represent 1 OSD (48 OSDs in Total).
If I'm testing the Diskspeed with DiskSpd in one Windows VM. I'm getting only 40MB/s. If I'm testing on 2 Windows VM at the same time on the same Host, I'm getting 40MB/s on each VM. Is there any limitations per VM? Like a fair use policy? And can this be disabled? FYI: The Speed with a Linux VM are the same or slightly better...

So I recently installed the latest version of proxmox with ZFS raid 1 on a new machine with the following specs:
  • Mobo: MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk Max Wifi
  • Cpu: AMD RYZEN 7 5700X
  • Cpu Fan: Noctua NH-D9L
  • Ram: HYPERX Fury 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 2400MHz
  • Gpu: Nivida Gtx 1030
  • Storage: SanDisk SSD PLUS 240GB
  • 2nd Storage: Western Digital 240GB WD Green Internal SSD
  • Psu: EVGA 650 BP, 80+ BRONZE 650W
However, every time I boot up proxmox on the machine, proxmox would crash...
