Random freezes, maybe ZFS related

Hi all,

I have some serious issues with random freezes. The server was freshly installed with 8.1.10.x a couple of weeks ago.
Proxmox runs on two NVMe Samsung MZQL21T9HCJR-00A07 Enterprise SSDs on ZFS (RAID1), Intel i9-13900, 64 GB DDR5 ECC RAM

Maybe a ZFS issue?
Scrub runs without any issues. Compression is on, Dedup off.

Wiederherstellung Container von local-zfs zu ceph rbd

Hi,

ich möchte einen Container, der auf einem anderen Proxmox Server ohne Ceph erstellt wurde (local-zfs Storage) auf einen neuen Proxmox Server mit Ceph wiederherstellen. Die Wiederherstellung läuft über ein Backup via PBS.

Wenn ich den Container nun direkt auf dem Ceph Storage wiederherstellen möchte, endet das in folgendem Fehler:

New to pbs, questions about a backup system, with offsite storage

Hi,
I have been using Proxmox VE in my homelab (a few vms and containers on the host and a few Linux clients) for some years now, but never had a good and reliable backup system.

After having evaluated several solutions (Urbackup, Duplicaty and borg), I recently discovered Proxmox Backup, and I am pretty sure, that it could be a very well suited solution for all my needs.

Ubuntu 24.04 - unsupported Ubuntu version '24.04'

Hello

Even tho Ubuntu 24.04 is in the proxmox repo we still get

unsupported Ubuntu version '24.04'

from what i can gather its not supported yet. (even tho its in the repo.)

what we can do is add 24.04 as a known verson in this file /usr/share/perl5/PVE/LXC/Setup/Ubuntu.pm

i will try and wait for the fix to be official. :)

Please fix this soon Proxmox devs, you are awsome :D

cluster got deleted

Hi everyone, we a have local desktop proxmox server with ip 192.168.50.16:8006 and by mistakely i used this command - systemctl stop pve-cluster to remove the cluster and now when i try to hit web interface with ip 192.168.50.16:8006 its shows the page is not working kindly guide me how should i bring my proxmox server upnagain and running!

vm ID ändern mit local-lvm-disk ...

Ich habe vorschnell versucht eine ID einer vm zu ändern.

von 101 auf 1001. jetzt versuche ich die disk auch umzubenennen


scsi0: local-lvm:vm-1001-disk-1,iothread=1,size=2G
scsi1: local-lvm:vm-1001-disk-0,cache=unsafe,iothread=1,size=45G,ssd=1

so steht es jetzt in der 1001.conf drin, aber ich finde die zugehörige Disk-Datei nicht. Aktuell müsste das ja vm-101-disk-1 sein

Within a vzdump hook script, how can I differentiate scheduled backups from those run interactively via the web UI?
There doesn't appear to be anything in env I might use to do this.

I updatet my Proxmox cluster yesterday.
It is now running Kernel 6.8.4-2pve, and ceph 8.2.2 .

Shortly after the update i got a segfault.

Restoring a single disk over a different VM

Hello,
I have the VM ID 123 with two disks and backed up, and VM 456 with one disk, and I'd like restore one disk of VM 123 (in effect, I want a copy of that disk) as the second disk of VM 456.
How I can do this using the existing backup?

I have (after some caveats and help from https://gitlab.com/polloloco/vgpu-proxmox and https://gitlab.com/polloloco/vgpu-proxmox/-/merge_requests/9 ) got my Tesla P4 recognized within a Proxmox 8.2 / kernel 6.8 server.

nvidia-smi returns information about the card as expected and mdevctl types lists a variety of 'nvidia-??' devices.

However, when it comes to the selector within Proxmox for managing the hardware of a Windows VM, the selector is blank and I'm unable to select any...

Datastore nach Update nicht mehr vorhanden

Hallo,
ich habe auf meinen PBS zwei USB HDD im RAID für mein Backup eingebunden.
Nun habe ich einige Updates installiert und die PBS neugestartet.

Nun ist aber mein Datastore nicht mehr vorhanden.

Die USB HDD wurden aber nicht getrennt und sind vorhanden nur der Datastore wird nicht mehr angezeigt.

Wie kann ich diesen wieder verbinden ?

This is one of the strangest issues in my 50+ years of computing. Your help, ideas, diagnostic or solution suggestions most welcome!

CONTEXT
  • I have a pair of almost-the-same Proxmox VM hosts. (HP Z2 G5 SFF, well loaded.)
  • Both have NVMe 1TB ZFS mirrored primary storage
  • Host 2 is MUCH less busy than Host 1 at present
  • All but one of the Host 2 VM's have been shut down since late March or earlier.

OBVIOUS SYMPTOM

Hello, if this is off topic please someone point me to the right place. I have a PVE 8 on my machine, with a 2TB SATA SSD drive with 2 partitions that I use for media storage, shared on network with OMV. Suddenly one of the partitions the other day disappeared and on log journal I found it's not mounted anymore.
With a bit of research (I am pretty new to Linux) I found that the filesystem EXT4 is not recognised anymore, I am looking (if there is) a way to repair and avoid al lot of data...

I'm trying to use PBS in LXC and everything is installed on top of Debian 12 LXC (installed proxmox-backup-server package) + NFS mount as datastore but after trying to backup from my PVE to PBS there is the error log:
