Hello,

I'm a student and i'm very new to the ceph storage and i know i'm missing a lot of things.
I run a 5 nodes proxmox+ceph cluster and i'm planning to add some more. In my cluster i'm i am limited by my means because, i only have one disk that I can use and there was already data on it that I couldn't delete, so I had to partition it and do that on each of my nodes, therefore the storage of my partitions is very inconsistent.
When i installed it, i created 5 OSDs (from each partitions)...

Multi port nic, passthrough one Nic per vm

I have a 4 port Nic installed in my server. Server has running three VM's I want to passthrough one Nic of that card to each VM.
Like;
Port 1 to VM1
Port2 to VM2
Port3 to VM3

I setup the passthrough like descrioted here; https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Pci_passthrough.
I can passthrough the interface but only have one vm running at the time. Probably cause it uses the full PCI.
It there a way to passthrough the nic directly to the VM without the need of a VM bridge.

LXC using NFS crashing if NFS server goes offline

I'm running OpenMediaVault in a VM, something is going wrong with it that I need to figure out, but it occasionally crashes and needs rebooting.

On the same host I'm running an LXC container (running plex) which uses fuse and NFS to mount a drive from the openmediavault server.

The issue I have is if OpenMediaVault does down, the LXC container totally dies - I've tried using pct to stop the container but it just won't. It also results in all of the containers on the server having gray...

Unable to remove unused vm disk on LVM

Hi, today I tried to remove unused and not configured disk but failed with:
update VM 100: -delete unused0
TASK ERROR: lvremove 'pve/vm-100-disk-0' error: Logical volume pve/vm-100-disk-0 is used by another device.

I also tried to shutdown the vm (even if don't use it) but gave same error.
I also checked the only other vm on this test proxmox server and don't show it.
Is it a bug, or is there something I don't know? (FWIK should be possible to remove it as not really used)

Proxmox Network Issues

Hello All,

Cant seem to get Proxmox to talk properly to our network and suspect an OS issue. I am a first time user so please bare with. Verified NIC/cable is working and can see in iDRAC that it is linked. I appreciate any insight that one may provide.

Trying to use the copper connection = eno2 and cant even ping the gateway from within.

Backups started failing

Hoping to get some help.

Backups have been working without issue, however last week the backups started failing, and the VM's become unresponsive. Trying to reboot or shutdown the VM doesn't work, and I get an error saying the VM is locked due to backup. The only way to recover is to power cycle the host.

Backups are being sent to a local server via SMB. Once the backup starts Proxmox loses connection to the SMB storage, and I receive the below errors. I have tried removing and re-adding...

IPMI Tool error after v8 upgrade

After the upgrade to v8 I'm getting alerts for "IANA PEN registry open failed: No such file or directory" for a IPMI script that runs on my host. I've seen a lot of talk about this bug, but I can't decipher the root cause, or a solution. AMD iGPU passthrough won't work

Hello,
I have a trigkey mini pc with the following specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon graphics
24GB ram
512GB ssd
my problem is i can't get the integrated GPU to passthrough.
I have all the drivers and guest tools installed but nothing shows on my monitor but when i check device manager i get the error 43 warning,
can someone please help

pbs on bare metal with pve updating

hi

i want to add second server that will be DR pve2 + pbs1 for the primary pve1. pbs1 will replicate to remote pbs2 as well.

my question is do i install pve first and pbs second ? or vice versa? which order is better(?) from upgrading standpoint. would running pbs lxc/vm be better on the DR pve2 node?

I have some raw template images (e.g. debian11.img) I want to import to my Proxmox VE instance to use them as templates to create KVMs. I use a ZFS volume, local-zfs.

Proxmox passes through Intel iGPU to Ubuntu Server 22.04 VM, but no kernel drivers are used or available

I'm relatively new to Proxmox, so I may be missing something here, but I'm hoping someone might have some insight into what is going on. I have an HP Mini I run Proxmox on that hosts an Ubuntu Server 22.04 VM. I'd like to pass the integrated Intel HD 530 graphics card to this VM, to use QuickSync for transcoding in the VM. So far, I have updated my host's grub:

Proxmox migrating VS

I am trying to migrate VS from one proxmox server to another proxmox server over Cluster.
But it doesn't work and there is no way for me to setup anything when I am migrating.
I have 3 virtual servers but none work for migrating I always get some disk problem.
Is there any better and easier way to migrate my virtual servers?

Hello, I need help guys. I have a separate 500GB HDD drive, I created it as a Directory through the GUI in ext4, created one partition /dev/sdc1, but did not find how to make a second partition /dev/sdc2 in the GUI.
Is it possible to split a 250GB Directory disk into 2 partitions and how to do it?

Running off a Recovered VM off a failed drive

Hey all,
I created a VM on a ZFS pool that ended up having troubles, and I had to recover the files from the pool. Luckily, the scsi0 disk for the VM that included the OS was able to be completely recovered. Unluckily, I don't know how to use the file now that it has been disassociated from the VM in Proxmox.

SDN VXLAN Multiple Nics

Hello,

we have a proxmox cluster with multiple nics.
let's say we have the following NICS

1. Public LAN
2. Private LAN
3. NIC for VXLAN

How can we tell proxmox, to use the 3. NIC for all Traffic related to the VXLAN zone?
I have not found how I can assign a nic to this VXLAN Zone. Is the NIC with the IP entered in Peer Address List used?

Using different RDX as removable devices with pve and pbs on the same machine

Hi,

i am using pve and pbs on the same machine. A backup of the vm is stored by pbs on an internal hdd.
Now i want to use different RDX as an offsite backup.
I added a datastore (/mnt/rdx), and i added a syncjob from localhost to rdx-datastore
I wrote a script doing the following:
- stop proxmox-backup and proxmox-backup-proxy
- mount the rdx to /mnt/rdx
- test if mount correctly
- start proxmox-backup and proxmox-backup-proxy
- start the sync
- stop proxmox-backup and proxmox-backup-proxy...
