vzrestore command not available

Hi all,

I'm new to Proxmox and managed to install the VE successfully on Debian Jessie by using the guide: http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_..._Debian_Jessie
Now I'd like to restore a vzdump from an old OpenVZ environment. The thing is, that vzrestore is not available and when I try to install vzdump (by apt-get install vzdump, which would include vzrestore) it the pve-tools would have to be deleted?!

Besides, I uploaded the tar (uncompressed) from the old vzdump to /var/lib/vz/dump directory. From what I've read the WebUI should list the this in Storage section, but for me it does not. Any idea why not?

Thanks
Marc

quorum only node for 3.4 and 4.0?

Im sure this is covered somewhere, i just cant find it. How do you make a quorum only node in a cluster that you intend to upgrade to 4.0 (so not using a quorum disk)? in other words, a node thats only there to maintain quorum and wont run any instances.

in my case, i have 3 real nodes, and id like to add two qnodes so that the cluster can fail down to 1 real node. these qnodes would be much cheaper than real ones.

i think something like logic supply with 2 nics, so it can properly lag across the main switch would be reliable enough.

Proxmox 4 - LXC mounting error console.

Hell Everyone,

Quick Bug Report: When booting the console gets filled with messages like this "EXT4-fs (loop4): couldn't mount as ext2 due to feature incompatibilities" for every LXC container. This is obvious as the FS is ext4 and wouldn't be an issue however dmesg is filled with this error and the main console gets filled with this message after login prompt which is annyoing. So it would be nice if this was cleaned up for Proxmox v4.0 release.

Access the web interface of a server behind a router

Hello,

at my home lab I have a local network with two proxmox servers behind a router.

With https://101.101.101.32:8006 and with https://101.101.101.111:8006 I can connect to the proxmox web interfaces of the two servers.

In order to access the proxmox web interfaces from the internet I forwarded the port 8018 to port 8006 of 101.101.101.32 and port 8016 to port 8006 of 101.101.101.111. Now I can connect to https://example.de:8018 and to https://example.de:8016, but not at the same time!
If I connect to https://example.de:8018 first and then to https://example.de:8016, the web interface of https://example.de:8018 shows "connection error".
If I connect to https://example.de:8016 first and then to https://example.de:8018, the web interface of https://example.de:8016 shows "connection error".

I also tried to change the port of the webinterfaces in /usr/bin/pveproxy to 8018 for the 101.101.101.32 and to 8016 for the 101.101.101.111, and to forward the port 8018 to port 8018 of 101.101.101.32 and port 8016 to port 8016 of 101.101.101.111, but this did not changed the conflicting behaviour.

My questions are what the reason for that conflict could be and if there is a solution to access the webinterfaces at the same time from the Internet?

Thank you very much for your help.
Kind regards,
Ralf.

IP address issue in Proxmox

Hi,

I'm new to ProxMox so i have some questions related to IP address after searching many days.

1. Is there any way to automatic issue IP for VM and OpenVZ ? In SolusVM KVM auto assign IP for client after 1 click add IP via web admin and VM/openvz can access internet.
2. How to detect IP of VM without going network tab of these VM ? For a large environtment we can not do this manually. And can't search also.proxmox search.png
3. KVM got problem with IP added to network tab, after added IP to network tab, VM still can not access internet. And I have to login to VM and set manually IP address, else VM can not access internet.
4. In the case we assign IP 192.168.1.1 for KVM but our client set manually IP 192.168.1.1 and more 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3 and goes on....what happened here ? We tested and this can set and can use these free IP. So network tab in this case mean nothing to KVM. Only affect for OpenVZ

Anyone have experiment about this issue ? Can you share.

Hi all,

For openvz we can check what VPS using IP via command vzlist -a but how about VM ?

We provide IP 192.168.1.1 for VM A but VM A will manual set more IP .2 and .3 and goes on...

In the case we have more than 1000 VM in proxmox system so how to recognize what VM using these IP ?

Thanks,

Hi together

I tried to configure the ZFS-ZED service for monitoring purpose as stated in the wiki.

I noticed that when i try to start or restart the ZFS-ZED service, there is a failure message about creating a symbolic link... Is this a known issue or does anyone have an idea how to fix that?

high cpu usage

Hi,
I am currently testing proxmox and I first install multiple VMs (Windows XP / 7 / 2008R2 / Debian ...)
and I notice that the CPU load went from 3~4/ to 40~30% without doing anything (sessions closed and almost nothing installed)
I also notice an increase in network traffic as you can see in the following screen capture,
is that problem could come from hardware configurations of my VM ?
feel free to ask
thanx

Nested proxmox 4.0b1 : L2 VM won't start : host doesn't support requested feature...

$

Hi all,

Trying proxmox 4.0b1 (L1) inside proxmox 3.4 (L0), I create a VM (L2).

With KVM acceleration enabled and default CPU (kvm64), this VM will NOT start :
warning: host doesn't support requested feature: CPUID.01H:EDX.vme [bit 1]
kvm: Host doesn't support requested features

With CPU=host, the VM starts (and Fedora 20 installs cleanly, fast! Network doesn't work even with e1000 for now, will see later).

This problem doesn't exist with pve 3.4 in pve 3.4.

May be related to thread http://forum.proxmox.com/threads/226...flag-for-a-VM?

Christophe.
