Tutorial: Unprivileged LXCs - Mount CIFS shares

Since unprivileged LXCs are not allowed to mount CIFS shares and priviliged LXCs are considered unsafe (for a reason) I was scraping my head around how to still have my NAS shares available in my LXCs, f.e. (Jellyfin, Plex, ...).

The solution provided by the Proxmox Wiki would require many changes to the PVE host config, which I was not willing to do.

Perpetual fail of MS Server 2022 creation

I have been trying for several days to get Server 2022 installed on Proxmox. I followed the steps in the WIKI, and loaded all three drivers. and continued with the install. The files all load successfully and it sits for a while doing it's thing. Then I get the attached error. I rebuilt the VM this time with EUFI BIOS. No Luck.

There are too many combinations for me to test every one. I'm SURE somebody else must have hit this wall. Please throw me a line!

Default Ice driver Kernel 6 poor performance

The native Kernel ICE driver performs poorly compared to the driver provided by Intel. Just take a look at the simple tests I conducted (hardware is the same). The only difference is the driver.


Whenever the kernel updates, it's a hassle to manually load the driver. Is there any possibility of including the updated driver in the kernel by default? It would save a lot of work.

Proxmox 8.3 + Netzwerkkarte Broadcom BCM57416

Hallo.
Ich habe mir einen neuen Server gebaut...
  • Supermicro Mainboard H12SSL-NT
  • OnBoard Netzwerkkarte Broadcom BCM57416 (10G)
Dazu habe ich dann die neuste ProxMox-ISO für die Installation genutzt.

Leider habe ich hier keine Netzwerk-Verbindung nach der Installation.
Nehme ich ProxMox 7.x (letzte ISO) so funktioniert alles perfekt.
(auch wenn ich von PVE 7.x dann ein Upgrade auf 8.3 mache geht es nicht...)

Wo liegt denn hier mein Fehler?

Ich versuche gerade, meinen Windows Server 2019 von ESXi auf Proxmox umzuziehen und scheitere an der Umstellung der Disk-Treiber von SATA auf Virtio-SCSI. Ich habe das mit den Dummy-Disks bei Windows 10 pro Client-VMs schon mehrfacht erfolgreich durchgeführt, nur bei meinem Server funktioniert es nicht. Mit der SATA-Disk startet der Server problemlos; irgendwie scheint aber dann die Einbindung der Virtio-SCSI -Treiber mit der Dummy-Disk nicht zu funktionieren, Nach Erstellen der Dummy-Disk...

Add GPU to Windows VM

Hello,
I'm able to run a Windows 11 24H2 VM without any problems using host CPU passthrough, but now I'm having trouble adding a GPU to the VM.
My current system is:
CPU: Ryzen 5 3400G
GPU: GeForce GT 710 (installed to free up the AMD GPU)

I have enabled IOMMU in the BIOS, and installed virtio on guest machine, but now I don't know how to assign the AMD GPU to my VM.
These are my current VM settings:

Proxmox 8.2.2 ceph mon stopped

Hello
today one on my node crash due to a SAS controller fault.
we have replace the controller but the ceph mon on this nod is "STOPPED".
we have destroy and recreate it, reboot several time
but nothing changes.
in advance on systemctl status the mon is runnin on that node:

Hallo alle,
ich möchte meinen paperless-ngx neu aufsetzen, bekomme dabei Fehler angezeigt, die aber nicht auf das Script zurückzuführen sind.
Auf dem angehängten Screenshot kann man die Meldung sehen. Vor der Zeile "Validating Storage" dreht sich der quadratische Kreisel, und es geht nicht weiter, außer vielleicht, dass nach längerer Zeit der Vorgang wiederholt wird.

Kann mir bitte jemand von euch da draußen einen Tipp geben, was ich tun muss, um den Fehler zu bereinigen?

after installing this update on windows 11, vms fail on start with BSOD unsupported processor, using "host" as cpu type, walkaround changing to "x86-64-v4", does anyone having the same issue?

Hello All...

Please forgive me if I have posted in the wrong area.

As someone not very familiar to ProxMox, I am unable to work out what has happened. I did a package update to my nodes ( apt update apt upgrade). I rebooted only one of the nodes, and none of the VM's would start. I migrated one of the VM's to another node (also updated) and it also failed to start.

Considering it could be just the one VM being a problem, I shutdown a VM on an updated, but not rebooted node, and that also...

PBS Deletes Valid Backup Chunks During GC – Unreliable Restores on Large-Scale Setup (70 Nodes, 500+ VMs)

Hi everyone,

I’m facing a critical issue with my Proxmox Backup Server (PBS) setup, and I haven’t found a clear solution so far.

Setup Details:
  • PBS version: 3.4.1
  • Storage: Single ZFS pool with 35 HDDs (104TB usable space)
  • Backups: 500+ backups from over 500 VMs across a 70+ node PVE cluster
  • Backup Frequency: Daily (mandatory)
  • Pruning: Keep last 1, weekly 1, and monthly 1 (total 3 per VM)

Recovering VM definitions

I have a rather pressing issue: I had a bunch of VMs on a system where a new installation cluster join failed and instead of the new machine joining the original, the original appears to have joined the new and wiped out the existing VM definitions, etc.

I can see the VM disks in rpool/data as vm-100-disk0 etc and I can muddle on through recreating the VM definition except for adding the old disk to the new VMs.

"The internet" seems to suggest "qm disk import" is the answer but I suspect...

I found my setup with a UGREEN USB Ethernet Adopter with the AX88179 chipset fail to bring up the USB interface.

Debug logs shows `ifupdown2` failed to find the interface corressponding interface:

Hi all,

Looking for some help with configuring email notifications from my PVE and PBS servers, but running into email errors.

Notifications have been configured via the GUI, as pictured below.

I would greatly appreciate help
I've been searching for many many hours and attempting many different solutions but,

I have a PVE Openmediavault virtual machine with 8TB drive allocated to storage that I can't seem to unfill/free space for Proxmox

The first time I ran into this, the disk also filled up to 100 percent (even though I deleted files inside the VM) and prevented the VM from starting up until it was disconnected. I'm afraid the same thing will happen to this...

I rebooted one of my cluster this afternoon and during the reboot I saw the message:

[FAILED] Failed to start zfs-import...0m - Import ZFS pool local\x2dzfs

I am currently running a pair of nvme with zfs mirror. There are no prompts for me to continue. How do I go about fixing this, please?

I'm trying to figure out why the A770 that I'm passing into a W11 VM seems to be stuck a PCIe x1 speeds, I've checked this via:
  • GPU-Z
  • HWiNFO
  • Intel Graphics Software
All reporting the link speed as x1:
  • GPU-Z
    • Initially shows "PCIe x1 1.1 @ x1 1.1"
    • Then switches to just "PCI-Express"
    • Even when running the load test via the "?" icon
  • HWiNFO
    • PCIe v1.1 x1 (2.5 GT/s) @ x1 (2.5 GT/s)
  • Intel Graphics Software
