Problems with unpriviliged LXC container and user rights

Hi all,

I am trying to get an unprivileged LXC container running Nextcloud AIO (in docker) and access a bind-mounted NFS share on the host.

Unprivileged LXC container (id 106) running a nfs-server.

Hallo.
Ich bin langsam sicher, ich bin zu doof, die ausgehende PVE-Mails gscheid einzurichten. Ich habe kein eigenen Mail-Relay, weil IP ist nicht fix (DSL).

Stand der Dinge:
1. Ich habe in PVE einen User für PBS (backup@pam) mit hinterlegte Mail "check@bl.de" (Domain ist gekürzt).
2. Ich habe ein SMTP "Notification Target" mit "from Adress:" biuro@bl.de" und Recipient "backup@pam", SMTP, User, Passwort, usw. Alles sicher korrekt.
"Test" gedrückt: Mail an "check" von "biuro"...

Good morning,
we have installed proxmox ve 8.1.4 community plan
this proxmox has 4 storage

storage 1: lvm OS
storage 2: lvm for some small size vm
storage 3: lvm 1 vm 20 Tera storage hddr5
storage 4: lvm 1 vm 65 Tera storage hddr52

We had to reboot the system and upon rebooting storage 3 (20 tera) and storage 4 (65 tera) failed to mount and time with the following error:

HDD never spin down

Hi,

I have a Proxmox server (5.2.1) with the config below :
- Xeon E5 2650 V2
- 16Gb Ram ECC
- 120 GB SSD (KINGSTON SV300S3)
- 2x2To HDD (Hitachi HUS72403 and TOSHIBA DT01ACA3)
The proxmox server is intalled on the SSD, the containers too.

My two hard-drives are configured in RAID 1 with this thread :

It's mounted on my proxmox server, and shared through NFS with my 4 containers.

Everything is working smoothly but hard drives never spin down.

Hallo
Ich habe am Server nur einen Steckplatz für eine SSD.
Ich möchte nun Proxmox installieren, diesem aber nur die hälfte der SSD zusortieren, so das ich dann später OMV die andre hälfte einpflegen kann.
geht das? und wenn ja wie?
hab dazu leider nichts gefunden und bin was sowas angeht ein völliger Anfänger

PVE 8.4 Keeps Crashing!

Within 12 hours, my PVE server crashed twice! The server was almost ideal when it crashed. In both cases, I got these error messages on the console:

The PVE is version 8.4 and the kernel is 6.14. The PVE and the LVM partition are on a Samsung 990 EVO M.2 SSD connected to the server's internal USB 3.0 port. Any suggestion please on how to figure out the problem here?

IPv6 address allocated but cannot access any remote addresses

I have a Proxmox VE server connected to a home router on vmbr0. Both the router and my ISP supported ipv6 so other devices connected, and all VMs/containers bridged to this router can access remote ipv6 addresses such as 6.ipw.cn (ipv6.google.com is unreachable due to regional network restrictions). But I was told that the network is unreachable while trying to ping and curl that working remote ipv6 host. It seems that this pve server has got its own ipv6...

FIPS mode on tape library - PBS errors out on labeling

Hi all,

We've run into a problem commissioning our new tape backup solution. Since we're in a heavily regulated industry, we're required to adhere to FIPS 140-2, which means using HPE's MSL Encryption Kit for validated FIPS 140-2 encryption on our Ultrium 9-SCSi drive. This seems to be causing an issue with PBS though, as when we try to label a tape we receive the error "status decode data encryption caps page failed - drive does not support AES-GCM encryption." Migrate Windows AD Domain Controller to Proxmox

I am planning to migrate from VMWare to Proxmox but I am unsure of how to proceed with the VM that is running the Windows AD Domain Controller. Can I just use the ESXi-Import feature to migrate the VM to Proxmox and then assign the same static IP that was used by the VM in VMWare, or is there anything else that needs to be reconfigured in order to work.

Hey since some days we get with 8.3 and 8.4 as well as PBS on 8.3. and 8.4 the following problems randomly on all nodes. on the next run problem may be gone then.

here 2 samples from different nodes (on ist still on 8.3. latest and one on 8.4.1)

Broadcom NICs down after PVE 8.2 (Kernel 6.8)

We had some issues with some broadcom nics going down after update to 6.8

Workaround: NICs go up if you do a service networking restart
FIX: Update Broadcom Firmware to latest firmware and blacklist their "beautiful" infiniband-driver

This will update ALL YOUR Broadcom-Network Cards to their latest firmware (live) (but reboot needed after it):

Mobile Migrate VM Node+Storage?

Hi,

Is there any way to choose what storage to move to? I can only see the node, but no storage.

I’ve tried changing to Desktop view but the screen is quite small in comparison and there is no way to use right mouse button to get to Migrate.

Any ideas?

Unable to create backup, proxmox want to make a backup to nonexistent storage

hi, before addin new backup, i have old PBS backup path, with name "backup2" but this storage not exist anymore, i deleted it from PVE, but when i want to made a backup 1 from few VM want to backup on old storage, i made backup manually indicate new storage, but i get error:

Proxmox with systemd-boot - any way to access rescue mode?

Hi,

I'm currently trying to debug an issue with Proxmox hanging on boot (link).

I seem to remember that in the blue Proxmox GRUB menu - you could go into Advanced, and there was an option for some kind of Rescue mode.

However, my system seems to be using `systemd-boot` - I see the black/white screen on bootup.

Is there some equavilent way to get into rescue mode, if you're using systemd-boot?

LXC Containers not starting after update

Hi all,

Strange problem. After an update or reboot, my 2 LXC containers (Omada Controller and Pi-Hole) do not start. My VM's all do start without any trouble.

Same when I move them between nodes. VM's do migrate and start, LXC's don't.

Only way to get them back, is delete them and restore them via backup. After restore, these start and work perfectly.

3 nodes, identical hardware:

- HP DL380 g10
- 2x Xeon Gold 6138
- 256Gb RAM
- 2x 500Gb SSD as boot
- 4x 1000Gb Nvme -> Ceph

PBS fails to shut down VM's correctly when running backup on schedule in 'STOP' mode

We have a problem in our environment that has been going on a while and is intermittent and quite random. Sometimes VM's in our backup schedules that are in 'STOP' mode fail to stop correctly, they are not backed up and look like they are hanging (but 'green') in the Proxmox GUI. They need to be manually stopped and started to get them up and running again.

The Task log for the backup always looks like this

Cluster aware FS for shared datastores?

Hi,
Just wondering if it's somewhere in proxmox roadmap to add some cluster aware filesystem (similar to the VMFS etc) with possibility to configure it via GUI.
I have a bunch of Dell VRTx servers (2/4 blade system with shared datastore) - and the shared PERC is not able to work in passthrough mode, so Ceph is not an option here.

Also having the shared datastore as LVM = loosing snapshot ability.
