NVMe Passtrough not working trough M.2 adapter card

Hey folks,

I have a system running on an Asrock X399 Fatality + Threadripper 1950x. It’s been working totally fine and I have no issues with it, knock on wood.

However, a couple of days ago I purchased an Asus M.2 Hyper card to give soem flash to a TrueNAS Scale VM on this host , to create a pool of 4 flash drives in RaidZ1 (drives are Samsung 990 Evo Plus, 2TBs).

I configured everything in BIOS, PCI-E Bifurcation for that first x16 lane to 4x4, NVMe RAID to Off…and I think that’s it. The...

In Proxmox VE 8.1.4 intel i226-v PCI passthrough VM cannot start. Attempted to add pcie_port_pm=off to Grub

I followed some tutorials to set up passthrough for the network card and added the "pcie_port_pm=off" parameter in Grub, but still cannot start the VM.

Switching between lvm and zfs

I installed proxmox on an nvme drive using the default (lvm) storage setup. I then created a vm running home assistant and have been happily using it.
I would now like to change my system to be zfs based but I do not want to have to manually set up / replicate my home assistant vm.
In order to do this my thought was to do a clean proxmox install (basing it on zfs this time) on a separate drive and then “copy” the old vm from the lvm formatted nvme to the new zfs based node.

dlna server not visible

I have fresh installation of proxmox on dell wyse 5070.
Then i installed jellyfin(unprivileged).
Jellyfin is up, everything works correctly via web page
http://192.168.1.127:8096/web/index.html
i shared dedicated folder created on jellyfin server

But active dlna server is not visible in network.
I can ping jellyfin server from my windows computer.
But i cant discover dlna server on this machine
I tried with plex, but this same problem.

How to identify problem?

Hello,

I've had PCIe passthrough working for quite some time on a TRX Threadripper build with an Nvidia 4070ti Super Asus Tuf and an AMD 7900xtx Sapphire Pulse. I recently swapped the 4070ti Super out for an AMD 7700xt Sapphire Pulse, though, and started having issues.

On two different Windows VMs, it will pass through okay, but upon rebooting either VM, the Proxmox GUI will become unresponsive for about 30 seconds. It appears to go through a reboot, except the BIOS splash screen doesn't...

Proxmox LXC - IPv6 disable script

Long story very short: I wanted disable IPv6 inside LXC containers and wrote this script based on information from links below:

SDN with multiple VLAN trunks

We are trying to replicate a vSphere design, whereby specific portgroups have been created with some vlans on each portgroup (ex. 2-4,9-15 or 101-200). With the proxmox SDN VNET option, we can only input 1 vlan id per vnet - how do we specify multiple vlan IDs in order to assign to the vms, so these can only have access to the specific vlans configured and no other.

Tldr need virtiogpu multi monitor support and a new option for displays called unset.


1) According to the qemu display driver source code, virtio gpu supports max_outputs as well as qxl.

Hello everyone!
I recently purchased a mini PC (Minisforum MS-01) that comes equipped with two SFP+ ports and two 2.5Gb Ethernet ports. My plan is to use it as a router replacement (even though I know it's not the typical setup, I'm not too worried about that) by running OpenWRT in a virtual machine. Besides the router function, the mini PC will also handle a dedicated VM for home automation—and probably more VMs in the future.

Safely rebuild PVE node?

After a botched ZFS rpool mirror-1 replacement it somehow converted itself to a full ZFS raid-0 on that same pool. I've tried different ways in fixing it but at the end it now makes sense just move the VMs and replication off of that node and rebuild it using new node name and IPs.

I've read the instructions on how to properly remove the node from the cluster but the part that bothers me is that I should power off the node before I use the remove node command on the other node. Since the...

Windows Server 2025 VM

Hallo Forum!

Gehört streng genommen glaube ich nicht hierher.

Windows Server 2025 basiert auf Windows 11 und braucht eigentlich TPM und Uefibios.

Als VM auf Proxmox lässt er sich aber auch mit Standardbios und ohne TPM installieren.

Es scheint alles zu funktionieren.

Hat jemand von euch Erfahrung damit?

Ohne die beiden zusätzlichen Festplatten (UEFI und TPM) erscheint mir das Handling mit der VM leichter.

Natürlich nur wenn Windows da dauerhaft mitmacht.

Certificate lost during cluster join

In Proxmox 8.3.5 it seems if I add a custom secure certificate then join the server to a cluster, the custom certificate is lost/deleted and I need to add it again...? This happened to me a couple of times so I figured I'd post just to check if I'm crazy.

Hallo!

Ich habe tailscale in einem LXC in meinem Subnetz installiert und bin soweit, dass ich mit tailscale von außen auf alle anderen Container zugreifen kann. Jedoch nicht auf Proxmox selbst, der sich ja im Netz des Routers befindet.

Hat jemand ne Idee, wie ich das richtig konfiguriere?

Fail2ban actions inside nat LXC

I have multiple LXC containers which use a nat configuration. I'd like to implement fail2ban on them but since the main firewall is placed on the Proxmox itself I don't know what's the correct way to use fail2ban on containers. I mean, by default, fail2ban actions try to add rules on the local iptables.

Until now I just edited the /etc/fail2ban/action.d/proxy-iptables.conf file on every LXC and added an ssh rule before any action in order to add those rules on the Proxmox firewall...

How to add new key to authorized_keys file

I was reviewing my backups and realized that I didn't have a backup job setup to pull down anything from my online PVE host. So I added my local backup server's .pub file content to the authorized_keys file, not thinking that PVE uses this for cluster communication I presume. This particular PVE host is not in a cluster it's on a single dedicated server at OVH.

wir setzen in unserer Umgebung Proxmox als Hypervisor und Veeam als Backup-Software ein.
Aktuell haben wir derzeit ein Problem, bei dem der Veeam Worker nicht korrekt funktioniert. (beim Starten bzw. Initialisieren)
Backupjobs werden gestartet, allerdings wird der Veeamworker nicht erreicht oder ist noch in einem vorherigen Prozess. (Fehlermeldungen in den Anhängen als Bilder)
