Low ZFS read performance Disk->Tape

hi,

I need some Input for troubleshooting a performance Issue I have on a Proxmox Backup Server I run.

Basically it's an off-site System that syncs with a production PBS. The Specs as follows:

- Supermicro Board + Chasssis
- Dual E-2680v4 Xeon (2x 14c)
- 128GB RAM
- 2x 480gb Seagate Nytro SSD (boot)
- 12x 20TB Seagate Exos / SAS
- 3x 2TB Samsung PM9A3
- Quantum Superloader 3 / LTO9

Now, the Datastore is configured as ZFS RAIDZ2, and has a ZFS special device in form of a 3-way mirrored...

installed mft. Trying to start mst and it will not start. Here is the output:

How to deal with/allow false positives?

Hi!

How is everyone managing their false positives? For example, all of our users who are accountants are unable to send email.

Example:

Proxmox Server setup business - 3 nodes cluster - Suggested storage type

Good day to all,

I am setting up in my company a 3 nodes cluster server for HA and redudancy. My experience with Porxmox is quite ok but the major issue now is the storage type to use.

My thoughts are as simple as it gets, I need the storage to be expandable and with the best possible setup for migration and restoring (in case of fail).

I know there are a good number of walk-throughs for setting up PBS, but an alarming number of them don't cover user accounts, using access tokens, etc. I wrote this up for work and decided to pass it along here. Hopefully it is helpful to someone else.

I have 2 PVE nodes that I would like to setup as a cluster, however both have configured clusters and I can't figure out how to remove the cluster from one to join the other.

I found the below instructions to install GNS3 on Proxmox in a youtube video. The instructions work, but the VM ends up configured being allowed to take up the entire drive. My drive is set up as LVM-thin.

Instructions:
SCP OVF file to /tmp on Proxmox
SSH to Proxmox
tar xvf "GNS3 VM.ova"
Run QM command, select drive where you want to keep the virtual disks
qm importovf 110 "GNS3 VM.ovf" pve-data2
In GUI, open VM and add hardware Network Device: vmbr0

Hi, I have a strange issue on my Proxmox deployment regarding VM MAC address that appears on 2 interfaces. This is a 3 node cluster, PVE version 8.3.5 inside VMware virtualization (nested) that has security settings on VMware vswitch set up properly to allow communication from inside Proxmox environment (works for other stuff that needs it so it should work for this as well). Backup of backup

Hello
I have a fully fonctionnal PBS with a mount through SMB to a Windows Server (iscsi true nas for the storage)
Backup are more than ok.

BUT
I want to copy the backup to an old synology.
What would be the best way to day that ?
(now I'm playing with a mount to the syno and rsync recursive vm and .chunk )

Hallo Proxmox Gemeinschaft,
ich weis es ist mein erster Post und komme gleich mit Problemen, ich bin aber Extrem Schlechter Proxmox User, ich bin Froh das ich Zurecht komme und würde euch kaum helfen. Aber vielleicht wird es bald mehr :)

In meinem Proxmox VE 8.3.5 habe ich 1 LXC mit Pihole, 1 VM mit Home Assistant und ich habe 1 VM mit Openmediavault.
Über Nacht ist mein Proxmox abgestürzt, zumindest war nichts über den Browser erreichbar. Also half nur der Stecker ziehen.

At the moment I have 3 servers with PVE, to which iscsi storage 10Gbit/sec is connected via multipath. On one of the nodes I installed PBS as a virtual machine, accordingly its virtual disk is located on iscsi storage. Windows 11 No Internet on 10GB Network Connection

I have 2 network connections, 1 GB and 10 GB. On my 1 GB connection I can get an Internet Connection with my Windows 11 VM. When switch to my 10 GB connection on the VM, I have no internet connection. Both network connections are on the same subnet as shown in the screenshot below. I have Linux Bridge setup for 1 GB on vmbr0 and the 10 GB on vmbr1. 1 GB connection is for management and 10 GB connection want to use for the VM's. From the 10 GB switch I can ping the Internet and Proxmox...

PVE 8.3.5 Clustering and HA

Hi,

I am running a HA cluster across 3 identical servers. I understand for HA and quorum purposes you always need an odd number of servers.

Can I add a 4th and just not include it in my HA setup? Could I add this 4th server to the cluster for migration purposes and etc? My 4th server isn't identical and I mainly use it for a pre-production test environment before I rolling things onto my production servers.

Thoughts?

Hi guys,
I recently bought a Beelink mini pc EQ14 with Intel N150 CPU.
I joined this mini pc in my 2 node cluster (with a qdevice as witness) and i want to move some VM there.
one of this VM is a debian 12.8 with plex media server and a GPU for hw transcode.
right now on the other node i have a Nvidia Quadro P620, but i'm pretty sure that the new igpu on the N150 can do the same job with less and less power (i have new devices as media player, so i can use the transcode only when i'm in...

Virtio GL VirGL encoding/decoding

Hi all, I've setup both Win11 and Linux Mint VM on PVE latest version, and also performed "apt install libgl1 libegl1" on host

Then I've chose VirGL for both VM. But seems I cannot get h264/h265 capability on both machine.

Why I assume I do not have those encoding, because I use Rustdesk to remote in the machine, and Rustdesk have h264/h265 encoding available if I switch to use GPU passthrough on Win11 VM. But then I switch back to VirGL, those options went away.

On Linux Mint VM...

[R8126] Realtek 5gbit NIC card stop working after last update 6.11.11-2

Hello everyone,
for several months I used the card in question without any problems (kernel 6.11).
However, with the latest kernel update to Linux 6.11.11-2-pve the card no longer works correctly.
Although detected, it seems that the cable is not inserted. Do you have any suggestions on how to solve this?

How to recover from HW failure on a 3 nodes cluster - VMs are hidden

Hi,

How should we recover from a lost node due to HW failure on a 3 nodes cluster ?
I can't see the VMs anymore, and have no direct way to restart them on remaining nodes.

Best guess is that I should remove the failing node from the cluster, but unfortunately cluster view do not really help:

Missing Charts in the summary page

Hello,

I am running 8.3.5 on my server, all is well other than my disappearing charts. For some reason all my charts (CPU, load, memory, network) disappear. As you can see below (one month chart), a reboot fixed it recently but only for a short period of time. Does anyone have an idea what the cause could be? The other nodes in my cluster have no issue.

I've search the PVE API documentation and was not able to find any way to get the hardware model name for a PVE node. Is there an API endpoint that provides this information?
