Having issue running a game server on lxc

I’m having an issue trying to get people to join my game server. I am running debian on an lxc container and have installed AMP on it. I’m able to login to amp setup the instance and join myself however when I attempt to let others join nobody is able to with the Public iPv4 address and necessary port or the ip address given to me 192.168.x.x. I have setup port forwarding on my router and have assigned it to the lxc container but still am not able to get anyone to join any help with this...

plötzlich höhere CPU-Last bei allen Linux-VMs?!

Hallo, seit dem letzten PVE-Update (bei mir am Mittwoch so um 18 Uhr eingespielt) wird bei allen Linux-VMs plötzlich eine deutlich höhere CPU-Auslastung angezeigt:

Server stuck in recovering journal

Greetings, colleagues.
It turns out I have a problem that I haven't found a solution to by searching the Internet. I have a Dell R720 server with Proxmox v7.1-10 installed. It was working fine for a long time. However, we lost power and the server shut down. When the power came back on, the server started up but it doesn't come out of the state shown in the attached photo. Any suggestions I could make?

Disk not available when vm is in off state

How to access the lvm disk when VM is in powered off state? We do not see the disk in lvm, see output below:

root@be-proxmox1:/dev/pve# pvesm path lvm1:vm-105-disk-0

root@be-proxmox1:/dev/pve# ls -la /dev/lvm1/vm-105-disk-0

We want to access/read '/dev/lvm1/vm-105-disk-0' when VM is in off state.

High VM Memory Usage On Newer PVE Versions?

I manage a decent-sized Proxmox private cloud for a client consisting of two sites:

Site A (Prod):
PVE 7.4-3
250 VMs (Windows 10, 6GB RAM allocated)
3x Dell R630 w/768GB RAM each

Site B (DR):
PVE 8.3.4 (latest as of Mar 2025)
0 VMs
3x Dell R630 w/768GB RAM each

Recently, we migrated all VM's from Site A to Site B for a DR exercise using Proxmox Backup Server and it worked very well (aside from some slowness with PBS, but that's another thread). The issue is:

Speed up Backupserver by adding zfs special device ?

I like proxmox backup server but budget only allows magnetic disks and raidz2.
So especially verify and garbage collect procedures need a hell of a lot of time.
For an 8 TB Backup space today verify needs 2 days and garbage collect needs 1 day.
I think with verify there is not much i can do. Either do it or not.
But a garbage collection should be much faster with a ZFS Special Device on SSD, right ?
Now my questions:
Can I add a mirrored special device to a zfs raidz2 pool ? I read somewhere...

Cronjobs not executing

Hi,

I'm trying to setup a nightly cronjob to put my server to sleep. It doesn't execute, but works fine using the command line.

Syslog doesn't give me anything, neither does journalctl. I tried increasing the log level but that doesn't change things either.

Hi ,

After fresh installation of proxmox (did muntilple time) -- i went to the node and i see system all services are running. only corosyn status is dead.
plesae check the attached screen. Below are error messages.

after upgrade, unable to boot

After I executed the command apt upgrade && reboot, I can't start pve, I get this error:

If I select kernel 6.8.12-4-pve, it can boot.

As a temporary measure, I switched to the old kernel "pve-efiboot-tool kernel pin 6.8.12-4-pve".

I'm troubleshooting random host reboots which have been causing me huge headaches. I see them in the logs, and nothing appears to precede them.

Thunderbolt connection slow to vm

i have a strange situation, i managed to setup thunderbolt connection on proxmox ve and my mac.
I am getting good results if i run iperf3 to the proxmox machine (ms-01)

Network issues with Ceph after Proxmox node restart (OVS, MTU 8900)

We are using Open vSwitch (OVS) for networking in our Proxmox VE cluster. We are experiencing a network issue after restarting a node – Ceph is not immediately ready, and HEALTH_OK status takes several minutes to appear instead of just a few seconds.

Observed behavior:
• Ping with MTU 8900 from some nodes to the restarted host does not work immediately.
• One node usually has working MTU 8900 ping right away
• Two other nodes regain MTU 8900 connectivity only after...

Ceph RBD Storage Shrinking Over Time – From 10TB up to 8.59TB

I have a cluster with three Proxmox servers connected via Ceph. Since the beginning, the effective storage was 10TB, but over time, it has decreased to 8.59TB, and I don’t know why. The filesystem is RBD. Why is my Ceph RBD storage shrinking? How can I reclaim lost space?

There’s not a whole lot of support forms on the Internet for ceph, so if this is misplaced, I apologize.

kann mir jemand sagen, ob es normal ist, dass ein zpool replace Tage dauert? Zugegeben war der letzte Ausfall einer HDD schon Jahre her, aber ich bin mir sicher, dass es damals nur Stunden gedauert hat.

Da die Hardware zur Reinvestition ansteht, plane ich einen neuen PVE-Cluster mit CEPH und habe dazu noch ein paar Fragen, die ich trotz Recherche hier und via Google nicht oder teilweise widersprüchlich beantwortet bekomme. So first of all i am a COMPLEATE newbie when it comes to proxmox.

I am hoping to get it up running on my homelab on 2 machines. 1x core ultra 155h with 64gig ram and 2tb nvme. This one I want to run ubuntu server on with a desktop enverionment. Docker with portainer. The MAIN use for this nuc is my plex server which I would like to run with hw transcoding on the ARC igpu in the system.

LXC Ubuntu 24.04 the dmesg isn't working

I have an Ubuntu 24.04. running in an LXC container that is based on template ubuntu-24.04-standard_24.04.-2_amd64.tar.zst and I'm having some problems with it.
I can't get to the output of dmesg.
$ dmesg
dmesg: read kernel buffer failed: Operation not permitted

Also with
$ sudo dmesg
I get the same error message.

When I try to fix this I get this message
$ sudo sysctl kernel.dmesg_restrict=0

Task result "Unknown" for daily task "Update package database"

Hi,

my newly installed PBS 8.3.3 shows the result "Unknown" for the daily Update package database task. There is not output in the task output window, and the status is:

When I update the package database in the GUI, everything works just fine. The syslog for the daily update looks good, too:

How to setup PBS as a VM in Unraid and uses Virtiofs to passthrough shares

Just wanted to share my experience with installing Promox Backup Server as a VM in Unraid as I encountered some problems that I wasn't able to find any answers on the internet.

My setup is a baremetal Unraid 6.11.5, another baremetal Proxmox VE, with a HP Aruba Instant On 1930 8G 2SFP Switch (JL680A) in between them.
