Unable to get device for partition 1 on device /dev/mmcblk0

Hi guys.

When I try to install PVE on my device I get the error "Unable to get device for partition 1 on device /dev/mmcblk0".

I've tried selecting ext4, xfs and zfs, but nothing worked.

I'm installing from a 16GB USB 3.0 and the device is a Teclast TbooK 16 Power with a 64GB Samsung eMMC.

Any help is appreciated.

LXC mount idmap

Hello!
I have a proxmox VE with mounted nfs shares. I want to mounz it to an Ubuntu lxc. The mount works with
Code: 
lxc.mount.entry: /mnt/pve/folder mnt/folder_in_lxc none bind,rw 0 0
But I need write access from the container. I know that I need to edit the uid mapping, but I don't know which is the correct. The folder is mounted with root on the host which has uid 0, and I also need access as root in the lxc, wehere the uid also 0. Which is the correct syntax?

Hallo,

ich hab mir auf meiner NAS den Proxmox Backup Server installiert. Leider kann ich keinen Ordner auswählen, sondern nur ganze Festplatten. Gibt es eine Lösung um von einer bereits eingebundenen Festplatte einen freigegebenen Ordner zu nutzen?

Today I was having some issue with getting pveam update to work. I was getting errors:
download failed: 500 Can't connect to download.proxmox.com:80 (Temporary failure in name resolution)
2025-03-01 05:48:03 update failed - no signature file '/var/lib/pve-manager/apl-info/pveam-download.proxmox.com.tmp.107664.asc'

It was pretty clear the issue was some sort of connectivity issue.

Hello All,
I've been at this for a couple weeks now but I can't seem to get my pve server updated.
My network topology is:
isp router (192.168.254.254) ---> pve server (192.168.254.165 WAN enp1s0 / 192.168.1.10 LAN enp2s0) ---> virtualized OPNsense (192.168.1.1) -> LAN

- OPNsense is the DNS / DHCP server
- All devices under the LAN can access the internet
- All containers / VM's installed under the pve server also have internet access and route through opnsense correctly.

Hi all,

I have set up a site-to-site WireGuard VPN between two networks using Fritzbox routers as the VPN servers (one on Network A and one on Network B).

Network Setup:​

  • Network A: 192.168.2.0/24 (Fritzbox Router with Wireguard Server at 192.168.2.1)
  • Network B: 192.168.3.0/24 (Fritzbox Router with Wireguard Server at 192.168.3.1)
  • Proxmox Server: 192.168.3.33 on Network B. My Proxmox is up to date (version 8.3.4)

ACME account registration timeout

When trying to establish a lets encrypt cert i get a connection error - timeout when attempting to register for a lets encrypt or lest encrypt staging account on there of the directory's.

I've done some searching but cant find any suggested fixes.

No error content when a 500 error happens on the HTTP API

When interacting with the Proxmox HTTP API and submitting a request that produces an error (e.g. creating a VM with a "vmid" that is already taken, I am not getting any error message from the api.

Fully Unattended Windows 11 Installation - Avoid Press any key to boot from CD or DVD

Hi all,

I am trying to set up a fully unattended Windows 11 installation on Proxmox. I have already created a Windows 11 ISO with integrated VirtIO drivers and an autounattend.xml file that works perfectly.

However, despite everything being set up correctly, I still have to manually press "a key" once (Press any key to boot from CD or DVD) to boot from the CD and initiate the installation. I would like the installation to start automatically without any manual input.

auto-add new VMs to a Pool for backup.

I would like to automatically add new VMs to a Pool.

I manage backups via Pool membership.
I would like to automatically backup new VMs.
So it would be great if I could automatically stick em in a "New VMs" Pool.

How would you do that? I've heard about hook scripts. I could imagine much too complex methods involving shell scripts.

I've been trying to get GPU passthrough working for a while now, but without success.

Here is my system:

MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WIFI (Socket AM5) AMD B650 ATX DDR5 Wi-Fi 6E Motherboard - Black
XFX Radeon RX 7800 XT Merc 319
AMD RYZEN 9 7900X

I'm currently labbing up proxmox to see if we can replace our VMWare/NSX-T deployments with it. The initial test looked really promising. Then I went to do a closer-to-production deployment, with separated management and routing networks, and it's all fallen apart. Here's the basic networking overview for what I'm trying to do.

Proxmox Datacenter Manager on ARM?

As the system requirements for Proxmox Datacenter Manager are so low for non-commercial use, are there ay plans to make an ARM compatible version? I know the project is still in it's infancy but it would be really cool to have this running on a pi for example. Currently I have this running in an LXC container in my Proxmox cluster which kind of defeats the point
