Hi everyone, just run a routine update this morning from GUI and the horrid GRUB screen popped up. On the following screen this comes up

CPU type `host` is significantly SLOWER than `x86-64-v2-AES`

I am shocked to discover what seems absolutely counter-intuitive to me, but maybe someone can explain me?

I have a stock Win11 24H2 and I initially set it up with x86-64-v2-AES and it was zipping along as one would expect.

Then I realized there is a 'host' CPU type and since I have a 128 GB 72 Core Dual Xeon (Lenovo Thinkstation P710) Proxmox server, I figured I'd just allocate directly as "native" HAS to be better/faster than emulated (anything) right...

Hallo zusammen,
seit dem Update meine Fritzbox 7590 auf 8.02 gibt es eine Auffälligkeit bei der Anzeige aktiver Netzwerkgeräte. Ich habe dazu bereits ein Ticket bei AVM.
Anlass war, das mein Telefon nicht mehr als aktiv erkennbar war und somit auch das SmartHome keine Anwesenheit feststellen konnte.
Inzwischen bin ich ein wenig tiefer in die Materie eingestiegen. AVM nutzt zur Erkennung LLDP. Ich habe hier einen Netgear GS724v4 und ein paar OpenWRT-Router als WLAN-APs.

Best practice for replacing all OSDs in CEPH cluster

For our proxmox cluster, we're running ceph on 5 nodes and each node has 8 OSDs each (40 OSDs total). The OSDs are 2TB SSDs and we're planning to replace each OSD with 4TB SSDs.

What's the best practice for replacing all of the OSDs in our ceph cluster? For data integrity, would we need to out+destroy one OSD at a time or could we out+destroy multiple OSDs at once from one node?

TASK ERROR: activating LV 'pve/data' failed: Activation of logical volume pve/data is prohibited while logical volume pve/data_tdata is active.

I have gotten this a couple of times and have been able to get past it, but I can no longer get me PVE sessions to start....

I've already tried:

lvchange -an pve/data
lvconvert --repair pve/data
lvchange -ay pve/data
qm unlock 100
reboot

I believe it may have to do with allocating too much drive space, but I've already enabled trim/discard but am still having issues.

I have no idea what else to try to get this back up and running. Would be super grateful for any assistance!!

Hi all,

I made an Update Script, with it you can update all LXC Containers within an Host or within your hole Cluster.

https://github.com/BassT23/Proxmox

The Script will run headless, so you can run it with a cron job or similar, if you want.

If the script detect a Cluster, it automatically run in "Cluster Mode". Otherwise it run the "Host Mode"
You also can run the "Host Mode" in your Cluster with "update -1". For more info type "update -h"

proxmox deleted image itself

Hello everyone,
this is the second time in two months (on two different nodes) that proxmox deletes the virtual disk and its directory of a vm.
The virtual disk is on a local disk of the node.
Why does this happen?
I managed to recover a disk because the machine was on (following this thread: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/deleted-image-of-running-vm.9258/ ) but for the second one (which was off) I lost everything.

First time post here, I am about to purchase the MS-01 from minisforum, intel i9-13900h and have been doing a little research, it seems from what I can tell most installs are OK on this machine with a bit of tweaking required, however I thought I would reach out to this community if anyone has successfully or unsuccessfully installed proxmox on the ms-01 and what I should expect or look out for etc before I commit to the purchase.

Leider beginnt mein erster Thread gleich mit einer etwas prekären Situation:

Wir betreiben eine 4 Node Proxmox Cluster mit NFS Storage seit Monaten mit Veeam back ohne Probleme.

Leider hakts nun etwas beim Vergrößern eine Disk am Main Fileserver.

Ich möchte die Disk von 12 auf 14 TB vergrößern ( Via GUI, bekomme jedoch folgende Meldung:

Help PBS speed fixed 1gbs

Hi everyone, I installed a bare metal PBS on a dual 4110 with 128GB of ram and SSD.
I tried all possible configurations switching from ZFS to any configuration, in extreme I even created a DS with 1 single SSD. I'm on a full 10GB network, the proxmox servers have 2 10gb and the PBS 2 10gb with MTU and network speed tested withiperf.
I attach a screenshot of the PBS configuration and the compression used, in no way can I reach a backup speed higher than 90/100 MB/s. Where can I check and...

I have a cluster with three Proxmox servers connected via Ceph. Since the beginning, the effective storage was 10TB, but over time, it has decreased to 8.59TB, and I don’t know why. The filesystem is RBD. Why is my Ceph RBD storage shrinking? How can I reclaim lost space?

PBS prompted for manual grub location selection on update

Today I ran the basic apt update && apt upgrade. I was greeted with a question from grub update about where I would like to install the grub bootloader. My system boots from dell raid controller using UEFI and has not asked such questions before when updating. I selected the /dev/sda as per that is the disk where the pbs itself is installed on. After selecting that, the installer created warning that the boot partition was under 1mb??

Hallo Forum,

ich habe heute Abend, versucht die Festplatte einer Windows Server VM unter Proxmox 8.03 auf ein anderes Storage zu verschieben.

Jeder meiner Versuch endete mit einem Windows System. das ESENT Errors im Eventlog zeigt.
Ua wird bei einer Webcache.log ein File mit der Sequenz 16 erwartet vorhanden war nur die 14! Dabei werden aber auch andere Windows Datenbanken getötet, z.B. DFSR

SPICE clipboard not working for Debian 12 KDE VM

Install new VM debian-live-12.9.0-amd64-kde.iso

On VM, make sure agent is running
Code: 
apt upgrade && apt update
ps aux | grep spice-vdagent
systemctl start status spice-vdagent

Host Settings:
Code: 
BIOS: UEFI
Machine: Q35
Display: Spice (QXL)

- Start SPICE console
- Copy text in VM
- Paste on Host

Actual result: Empty clipboard, nothing pasted
Expected: Text from VM pasted

Pasting from another Ubuntu VM works on same Host for me.

VM Restore via the api

I am trying to find in the api docs a way to restore a vm from a backup created using vzdump endpoint in the api. I see snapshot role back but I don't think that is what I am wanting. How do I go about doing the restore via the api.
