Proxmox cluster is in a state of development ?

Hi,

I have 2x proxmox 8.3 in cluster with a third.

I have to replace the third.

I try to joint from my PVE 8.3 #4 the cluster : failed. No reason !

Then I delete the cluster in the #4, I reboot, the pveproxy is out !

systemctl start pveproxy
Job for pveproxy.service failed because a timeout was exceeded.
See "systemctl status pveproxy.service" and "journalctl -xeu pveproxy.service" for details.


Anything is OK with Proxmox ?

It's not the first time I have problem with cluster...

Reduce Storage Space

Proxmox shows high memory but no VM is running.

Hi,
Proxmox was showing high memory usage with only one OS running (Cockpit which has only 1GB of memory allocated). So I turned it off and with no VM running still had 18GB of memory usage. Whereas in the htop the used memory is around 3GB and 18GB in Proxmox summary (After turning off one VM which was running). So what might be the reason for this? Thanks in advance.

Proxmox backup on SMB do not stop when destination become unavailable.

Hello,

Today during a backup the destination crash for an unknown reason.
The destination was a NAS a it was no more available on the network.

But the backup on the proxmox did not stop it hang.
I was not able to stop the vm properly neither the proxmox host.

Why ?

Hello guys,

I am currently facing an Issue in our Proxmox Cluster as described in the Title.
It does not matter on which Node the VMs are on, or if they run Linux or Windows, it happens on every single one.
However LXCs in the same VLAN are not affected, since they dont use the VirtIO Adapter, as far as I can tell.

OPNsense als VM - Zugriff auf PVE-Host

Hallo,

ich habe eine OPNsense als VM auf einem PVE-Host und kann mich vom Heimnetz per VPN dorthin verbinden. Kann man das so bauen, dass man durch die OPNsense auf die Proxmox-Oberfläche kommt? Der Server hat nur eine Netzwerkkarte, aber mehrere öffentliche IPs (von denen eine jetzt auf den Host zeigt und eine auf die virtualisierte OPNsense).

Ich grüble da gerade. Geht das überhaupt?

Proxmox VE cluster rejoin node

Hello there,
I made a mistake, I joined a single node to a two nodes cluster (this one is in production) but it was the wrong one (single node was without VM's) so I killed it without turning it off. Now the two nodes cluster seems to works fine, then i removed a VM from the custer and now i get an error message during the scheduled backup process ''Can't find the VMXXX''.
It's just an error message but the backup works. I still got the single node without vms and without any kind of mod...

Scheduled backups are failing suddenly (but work when I do them manually)

My automated backups fail due to a free space error, but the disks are far from full. When I invoke a manual backup to the same storage, it works fine. Here are the emailed logs from both situations. The backups are heading to a PBS instance running as an unRAID container which has an external USB 3.0 enclosure connected to it. If you have any ideas, I'd be thankful for some input! Thanks!

Paperless NGX - Daten direkt auf Synology NAS speichern

Hallo zusammen,

habe noch nicht viel Erfahrung mit Proxmox, versuche aber seit Tagen Paperless NGX zu installieren.
Direkt auf Volumes im Proxmox klappt es auch.

Ich möchte aber gerne, dass die gespeicherten Dokumente nicht im Proxmox Container gespeichert werden, sondern auf meinem Synology NAS.
Habe schon vieles ausprobiert, leider bisher ohne Erfolg.

Ich gehe mal davon aus, dass ich im PVE ein Mountpoint erstellen muss, welchen ich dann im LXC ansprechen kann, ist das korrekt...

I spent the morning trying to figure this all out, and I think I've gotten it. So the first part are the steps I took to get the AMD P-States driver for CPU scaling to work. The second part is a discussion on using this driver and the benefits, if any, of changing this over leaving the default Proxmox settings.

Include/exclude files in proxmox-backup-client

Hello,
I'm trying to switch my backup system (based mainly on backupninja and custom scripts) to proxmox-backup-client.
I wrote a small script to run backups, using the repeated --exclude flag not to backup unneeded data.
Comparing the size of previously backed-up data, I see a big discrepancy of backup size, so my question is: how are the --exclude flags treated, globally or per path/pxar file?
E.g. if I want to backup /etc and /root into 2 different archives, and I add the --exclude foo...

Performance Issue with vGPU

Hi

We are migrating our VMs from ESXi to Proxmox. Now we have Performance issue with the VMs with vGPU.
We are using Proxmox 8.3.2 with a downgraded Kernel to 6.5.13-6 that we are able to install the Version 16.8 of the Nvidia Drivers for our Nvidia A16 GPUs.
I'm getting 31FPS on a Webgl Test in Chrome Browser, but the Performance in Outlook and Teams are very poor in comparison to the Performance on ESXi.

Unable to connect to the web GUI

Hey everyone,
I've been using Proxmox here at home for a few years now and everything has been great. But last week I decided to install a couple of containers via scripts and one of them broke the connection to the machine :(
I can't login to the machine itself...pinging the IP brings back nothing. However the VMs I have with their statis IPs (Plex, Unifi, Calibre) are still working fine.

I took a few photos of the typical network commands.

The "/etc/network/interfaces" has the correct IP...

Bug with Prune task status

Info: I run PBS with its own storage on the same virtual machine.

I have no complains, PBS does its job perfectly. I verify the backups automatically and manually sometimes with zero issues.

Every backup job is configured with a prune retention, here's how the task log usually looks like:

After each backup (OK) there's pruning (OK) and if I check the task, I get this:
