LVM steigt täglich aus - Umstellung auf ext4

Moinsens,

ich habe ein großes Problem mit einem Produktivserver und LVM. Ich starte den Rechner täglich per Kaltreset neu, weil das LVM-Laufwerk auf dem die VMs drauf sind aussteigt.
ich habe schon reichlich recherchiert und die gefundenen vermeintlichen Lösungen ausprobiert, die auf unserem Server nicht geholfen haben als da wären:

udev.conf:
event_timeout=600

lvm.conf:
thin_check_options= [ "-q", "--skip-mappings" ]

Beides hat nicht geholfen. Ich will nun das LVM loswerden und die VMs...

No Boot after installing RDS on Windows Server 2025

Hello, I have a very strange problem with Windows Server 2025 and RemoteDesktop-Services.

What happened:
Installed a Domain-Controller with Windows Server 2025 on Proxmox 8.3.0 - used virtio 0.1.266 and everything works fine.
Installed a 2nd Windows Server 2025 and joined Domain.
Then I installed Remote-Desktop-Services.
The installation initiates an automatic reboot - and the reboot fails - starting automatic repair.

There are no disks visible when using diskpart in command prompt in...

I have been running a Proxmox server for about a year and a half, simply hosting Home Assistant and Pi-hole. I am in the process of adding 2 new "servers" and have been doing a lot of research about configuration. Here is my proposed thoughts. I would love to hear any pros/cons of this approach, or if you think I am doing anything wrong or any better ideas you may have.

I'm working with a Dell PowerEdge R240. I have been banging my head against this problem for a couple of days now. The PROXMOX 8.3 installer won't see my hard disks on the H330 RAID controller. The 7.4 installer does and installs fine. I joined it to a cluster with an 8.3 host server and when I tried to migrate a VM, I couldn't because 7.4 won't run the 8.3 VM. So I'm stuck with a situation where I need to upgrade 7.4 to 8.x, but I don't dare go to 8.3 since it'll clobber my RAID again. I...

Cannot remove directory from GUI.

Hello when I go to delete a old test directory so I can create a new one I get a error, "not a valid block device", Any solutions to destroying the directory? I tried manually removing the path using rm /etc/systemd/system/mnt/pve/WD-HDD and rm /mnt/pve/WD-HDD just to try it and both times I just got No such file or directory. Really stumped on this if anyone can provide guidance that would be appreciated.

Backup Error: block device is in use by block job: backup

We're having a recurring issue with a couple of our VMs running backup jobs to PBS.

ERROR: Backup of VM 518 failed - VM 518 qmp command 'backup' failed - Node 'drive-sata0' is busy: block device is in use by block job: backup

There doesn't appear to be a lock on the affected VM, I've run 'qm unlock 518' and tried again with the same error. The only way to get past is to shutdown the VM (has to be full shutdown, restart doesn't work), and then the daily backup is successful for another...

I'm trying to install cryptsetup because it is missing for a reason that escape me and I'm getting the following error:

Package cryptsetup is not available, but is referred to by another package.

USB-Stick mit Smartcard an VM durchreichen funktioniert nicht richtig

Ich möchte an eine VM einen USB-Stick mit einer Smartcard durchreichen.
Das Ding ist von Datev; stammt aber wohl ursprünglich von Kobil und nennt sich mIdentity.

Problem: Der Stick lässt sich an die Windows-VM durchreichen, taucht auch im GeräteManager auf.
Die zugeörige Software ist übrigens installiert.

im geräte Manager wird der Stick als einwandfrei funktionierend gefpührt; man sieh auch ein einen weiteren Eintrag mit 2x SmartCard, beide Einträge sind aber grau.

Hi,

there are often discussions regarding the usage of (non supported) ocfs2/gfs2 clustered filesystems with qcow2 (for thin provisioning and snapshots) on shared block storage. Would it not be feasable to use maybe an (extended) version of the internal Proxmox pmxcfs as cluster FS vor VM disks ?

we are thinking about migrating from ovirt to proxmox and have quite a lot of direct luns there. I saw that it is possible to use direct luns in proxmox but I haven't found a way to configure multipath with that. Please don't get me wrong, I found the wiki documentation about iscsi multipathing and using lvm on top. It is great and it works. LVM-thin drives showing a grey question mark. Had this happen with a single drive before, thought the drive may have failed. It was a recent purchase so I returned it and also got a sata card, just in case there was an issue with the sata ports on the motherboard. All the drives minus the NVME were created through the Web GUI under LVM-thin, and each as a single device they were not pooled together. Trying to restore backup - no space left on device

Hi.

I'm trying to restore a backup of a container. Unfortunately it continuously fails.
It throws numerous errors like this:

tar: ./root/vaultwarden_mysql: Cannot mkdir: No space left on device

I've restored an older backup, which did work fine - but it doesn't contain all the necessary changes I've done in the past weeks.
But I noticed one thing: the harddrive of the successful backup is almost full.
So I believe that due to my recent changes, the HDD just filled too much and now...

Guten Tag,

bei aktiviertem 'Hide internal Hosts', sprich in der '/etc/pmg/pmg.conf' ist 'hide_received 1' gesetzt, werden im Sendereport die internen IPs und die internen Hostnamen immer noch angezeigt.

Ist dies bekannt? Wie wird dies gelöst?

So I set up a VM in order to install Home Assistant. I download the qcow2 image from https://www.home-assistant.io/installation/alternative and import it to the new VM.
