No internet when using DHCP in LXC containers

Hey everyoone! I have an issue where any LXC container I create has no internet access. I also tried running some of tteck's proxmox scripts and end to an 'IPv4 Internet not connected' error. Proxmox itself has internet access and I can ping google(or any other domain from it).

If I manually set up static IP and gateway for the container network setting, internet magically appears, but when using DHCP it does not work.
If I run dhclient -v eth0 in the container it manages to obtain IP...

Hi guys,
I recently bought a Beelink mini pc EQ14 with Intel N150 CPU.
I joined this mini pc in my 2 node cluster (with a qdevice as witness) and i want to move some VM there.
one of this VM is a debian 12.8 with plex media server and a GPU for hw transcode.
right now on the other node i have a Nvidia Quadro P620, but i'm pretty sure that the new igpu on the N150 can do the same job with less and less power (i have new devices as media player, so i can use the transcode only when i'm in...

"VLAN aware" checkbox has no function

I've setup a new 8.1.3 proxmox cluster and was kind of surprised that my VM using a tagged VLAN had network connection, even though "VLAN aware" was not ticked on the bridge interface. Did a few tests and it seems that this checkbox has absolutely no impact, whether or not VLANs are passed through to the VMs. I can tag VLANs inside a guest OR on the VMs virtual NIC and it's working perfectly fine, even with VLAN aware unchecked.

Notification Matchers not working after update to 3.3.0

Until now I've been using email notifications successfully. After updating to 3.3.0 I configured several webhook targets and associated matchers to track GC, Prune, Sync, and Verify jobs. When I click the 'Test' button for the various webhook targets, I receive the notification as expected (on a healthchecks.io server). Hi! I just started playing around with re-using my old gaming PC into a Proxmox home lab and so far I am having lots of fun. My next step is to upgrade storage since I am running a single 512GB Samsung EVO 870 SSD and hitting a limit right now.

Since my motherboard supports a single PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 slot, I am thinking of getting a single 2TB Samsung 970 Eco Plus SSD and one 1TB Samsung 870 Evo SSD. I would add 870 Evo to the main storage and use 970 for the main backup (or vice versa). Does...

Hi,

I have a proxmox cluster with 6 nodes, and have ceph running on it with 2 osds at each node. I want to add one extra osd at each node. My question is:

After I added an osd, should I wait for the whole ceph rebalanced first, then adding 2nd osd, and so on? Thanks.

I have a weird situation so I moved my pfsense from a vm on my proxmox to a physical device using a backup of pfsense and now proxmox vms (192.168.55.1/24) and my wifi devices (192.168.54.1/24) can talk to each other with my updated rules from pfsense but for whatever reason I cannot reach the proxmox host at all outside of command line on the box itself. I have a VM using GPU passthrough - and it works fine. I can see the GPU inside the VM and interact with it generally. In an effort to use this GPU as my primary display, I need to _disable_ the implicit video device that Proxmox firmware supplies to the VM, so I changed `Hardware` > `Display` = `none` in the VM instance settings.

At this point the VM no longer boots. The device spins consuming ~12% CPU and about 100% memory.

If a PCIe HBA added to a client vm and both possible host HOSTS have identical hardware setup including the same model HBA can HA be kept?

In short I have a disk shelf connected to the host with a HBA. I do want to keep it as High availability as failover. So that if PVE1 fails the VM will move to PVE2 and mount the HBA in that other node. Effectively only having a possible reboot down time and live access to data. PBS restore not restoring efi disk

I am running into restore problem. I have a Windows server 2025, the config has two zfs, one is restored as vm-101-disk-0, the EFI should restore a disk called vm-101-disk-1, but it never did.

The result is when I start the VM, it gives me error: TASK ERROR: timeout: no zvol device link for 'vm-101-disk-1' found after 300 sec.

Anything I did wrong? What do I need to do to fix this?

Hello everyone,

I started the process of updating my nodes to Debian 12.9 since it got released today.
I first did "apt update" & "apt upgrade -y" on the node and all the VMs the node has. (So that when I apply the update to the node via reboot it also applies it to the VMs since they will be rebooted as well.)

Proxmox PVE 8.2-1 unresponsive after a few days

Greetings. Proxmox PVE 8.2-1 host becomes unresponsive after a few days. It responds to ping, but no SSH or Web Interface. VMs are also unresponsive. The server needs to be power cycled in order to recover. In a few days again the same thing will happen.

Is it possible to set the search domain to be the nodes domain so that all containers become subdomains?

I want all my LXCs to be their own subdomain of the node they're on, which is node-1.lan.
I tried setting the search domain to be ".node-1.lan" instead of just ".lan" (it picked it up by default from my DHCP server) but it doesn't work, they're all still just <container>.lan.

Is this possible? I also tried manually setting the hostname of a container to container1.node-1, hoping for container1.node-1.lan, but it still just becomes container1.lan

Single Server hardware, with CARP, Unbound, PF, DHCP with Lan, HA firewall failover on FreeBSD VM on PROXMOX

Single server tutorial
Two separate VMs with FreeBSD 14.2 RC installed and running.
I wanted to avoid VLAN for family LAN, which relies on DHCP. Therefore a bit extra hardware is needed.

Key lessons learned:
Virtual Nic alias defined in rc.conf should be a /24 for lan to work, not /32 as some guides circulating on if you want LAN to work with DHCP.
Numbering of aliases in virtual Nic defined in rc.conf needs to start with number zero (example: ifconfig_re1_alias0)
