Hello everyone, I was configuring Proxmox Backup Server on my Proxmox server when, while entering the PBS fingerprint, I was disconnected from Proxmox. Upon refreshing the page, I noticed it was no longer accessible, so I decided to log in via SSH to restart Proxmox. However, SSH wasn’t working either.

The VMs were running normally, as I was able to access them via SSH without any issues. Proxmox is running on 10.0.1.6. I’m not sure what happened, but both SSH and the GUI are completely...

Greetings.

I have PVE 8.0.3 with several identical virtual machines, each of which has its own role. All VMs are Server 2019. One of them (Microsoft SQL Server) is constantly hanging up one time in two-three days. Black screen in Console and the only thing I can do is hard stop it.

I can't find anything useful in windows logs. Please advise me how to find the cause of the virtual machine hanging from Proxmox itself, which logs should I look at for diagnostics?

Installation error : Grub error /.disk/info | Proxmox VE 8.3

Hello,

I get a grub error when trying to install ProxMox VE 8.3 on my new Hardware:
  • Supermicro H13SAE-MF
  • Ryzen 9 7950X
  • 2 x 48GB Kingston Server Premier DDR5
  • 2 x NVMe M.2 SSD
This is the first time I bought a "Server" Mainboard and maybe it's rather here the problem than the ProxMox installation

I googled already around but could not find a solution.

Here is what I tried already out:
  • Multiple downloads of the ISO
  • Multiple Flashes with Rufus and Etcher...

Problems with moving disk VM

Hi, I'm getting this error every time I want to move a disk of the VM to another disk. I state that I have all NAS (physical, Synology) in NFS

TASK ERROR: storage migration failed: target storage is known to cause issues with aio=io_uring (used by current drive)

LXC unprivileged nested=1 vs lxc.apparmor.profile unconfined what is more unsecure

Hi,
I run all my LXC container unprivileged.
Now and then I have issues with systemd and/or logrotate and some more services not starting.
I resolve the issues with lxc.apparmor.profile unconfined in the LXC conf file.
But I could resolve it by setting nested=1 option in LXC conf file.

So, what is more secure?
What does expose more risk?

Mount-Problem nach Update auf 8.3.1

Nabend! Vielleicht kann mir jemand helfen, bevor meine Frau mich tötet! :eek::rolleyes:

Seit dem Update auf 8.3.1 ist unsere Nextcloud mit ihren Dokumenten nicht mehr erreichbar.
Bzw. konnte Proxmox nach dem Update erst gar nicht mehr booten.
Nach dem löschen dieser Zeile aus der fstab konnte normal hochgefahren werden:

/dev/sda1 /media/disk ext4 uid=1005,gid=1005 0 1

Nur hat damit die Nextcloud ihr medium verloren.
Wenn ich diese Zeile wieder eintrage und das ganze vor einem...

Import VMDK - not sure what I am doing wrong

I am trying to import .vmdk files from an SMB share ("ISOs") I have mounted on my Proxmox server. I have tried following the instructions here but the VM is never able to boot.

I have even tried using Starwind V2V to qcow2 and the VM could not boot then either.


I just started fresh, my exact process:
root@proxsff01:/mnt# cd pve
root@proxsff01:/mnt/pve# cd ISOs/
root@proxsff01:/mnt/pve/ISOs# cd home-assistant/

(I have a -flat VMDK in there too as well but it seems like qm disk...

New server setup for customer

Hi team,

We're looking into replacing a 6 year old server setup at customer site with a 3 node Dell R660xs cluster based on Prox, and a ME5024 storage box.
However, reading about Ceph has got me thinking - would it make better sense to skip that ME5024, and equip the 3 nodes with internal storage instead, and use Ceph as storage controller?
The ME5024 was to be installed with 12 x 1,92TB SAS SSD's, replicating that to internal storage would be times 3 of that I guess.

File level recovery does not work

Hi all :)
I'm new to proxmox. I've searched online for the solution to this, but nothing works.
I'm testing a latest version of proxmox with the pbs role added.
Backups are created ok, and i can recover the whole vm with no problems, but when i try to start an individual file recovery, i get this error:

proxmox-file-restore failed: Error: Starting VM failed. See output above for more information. (500)

Any clues?. I'm testing on a 16 core xeon with 48g of ram and there is only a vm...

Storage best practices for large setups

Hi there,

currently one of my customers plans to migrate an existing VMWare environment to a KVM based solution.
The VMWare setup is pretty large with about 2.000 CPU cores, ~50TB memory and ~2.000 TB full-flash SAN storage.
Eventhough we would setup several Proxmox clusters, we still need a high performance storage solution which can handle arround ~750 TB.

So the question is, what's the suggested type of storage backend which should be used for that kind of setup?

Hello Guru's,

I use the Solaris OS on a number of Proxmox VM's using the built in server type provided by Proxmox for this operating system but I can't find where to download the corresponding virtio drivers and QEMU agent for it, can anyone advise if these are available to download from anywhere please? It would be very useful to have these installed for both performance and to be able to cleanly shut the OS's down when I run overnight scheduled backup jobs to my PBS box using the shutdown...

Disk Speeds inside a VM.

This is my issue.

My proxmox host has 2 SSD's. One is for the host itself, and the other is for the virtual Disks for the VMs and containers.
If I run hdparm or dd directly on the host, I get speeds on the VM SSD disk of around 370-390 MB/s, which is what I would expect.

If I go into a VM (doesnt matter if its windows or Ubuntu), the write speeds drop to 60-70MB/s with caching off, and around 110-130MB/s with write back enabled.
And with write back enabled, I get file transfers pausing for...
