I've been toying/experimenting with a
non-Proxmox Ceph cluster (Reef), with some success.
I do have a Proxmox related question about the interaction between Proxmox and the RBD store - I've set the Ceph cluster as an RDB store for a test VM and created a test VM on it. Then, after much cloning, moving, copying, I shut down the Ceph cluster for the night, after having shutdown the relevant VMs on Proxmox. (but keeping the other VMs functioning)
When the cluster was turned back on this...

I need an infrastructure to create and provide vms / containers and virtualized infrastructures (Active Directories etc)
I've little knowledge about IT infrastructure and spent days researching stuff that lead me to create this diagram.
Am I on the right path for the general idea, is it feasible or do you see a glaring mistake ?
Thanks!

Hi Everyone,
I noticed that starting from today there is a huge network spike on my proxmox host. This spike is is only on 'netin'. As can be seen in the screenshot.
I quickly noticed that the other node (in the cluster) is have a very similar graph. So the screenshot is from one node but on the other node it is the same also 'netin'. My VM/CT's are not using that much traffic. Maybe 100-200k. This spikes sometimes to 3M!! and continues to do so for 15-30 minutes. Because this happens on...

I used to have a setup where my OS was on a SATA Enterprise SSD and my VMs were on a NVMe SSD.
Long story short, the Enterprise SSD died on me.
I replace it with a NVMe SSD and did a fresh install of Proxmox 8.2.4
Proxmox sees the SSD under 'Disks' but it is unusable until I can set it up as a storage under 'Datacenter --> Storage'
Now, how do I add that VMs SSD to that new install?
Thanks

I'm using Proxmox for testing purposes since a couple of years but the learning curve, non being very found in linux commands, seems very steep to me. That said I have to running machines and I just noticed that thinpool partition is suddenly missing. I noticed that my other server has it, so in this server I cannot save Snippets anymore. How can I recreate the lvm thinpool using some space of sda ?

TL;DR Wrote 505K, got 640M SSD writes
... what just happened?
I have been experimenting with this for a while now, to avoid any false positives with the whole stack:
Installed
Debian 12 stable netinst, kernel
6.1.0-25-amd64
, ext4, no swap, tasksel standard ssh-server.
Took
pmxcfs binary from
pve-cluster 8.0.7 and launched - this is no cluster, there's no corosync, neither is there any other services, journal is barely writing anything.
It...

We have 4 HP NVMe drives with the following specs:
Manufacturer: Hewlett Packard
Type: NVMe SSD
Part Number: LO0400KEFJQ

4KB Random Write: 39500 IOPS
Server used for Proxmox: HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 - All the NVMe drives are connected directly to the Motherboard's storage controller.
Proxmox VE is installed on 2 x480GB SSD in RAID-1 mode. We have a guest VM running Ubuntu 22.04 LTS edition having 40GB RAM and 14 vCPU.

After moving from truenas to proxmox after my truenas OS drive died i am having issues chmodding the imported zfs pool.
the current permissions on the pool data are drwx--x--- which i think is stopping my plex lxc from reading the media even though its a privileged container.
When i try to chmod any of the directories inside the zfs pool i get operation not permitted. I assume this id down to ACL possibly as thats what truenas was using for sharing.
Does anyone know how to clean off any...

I am hoping someone can help me diagnose an issue where my Proxmox server will no longer boot. It goes directly to the bios. The only device selected device to boot is my NVME drive.
I have used the Proxmox installation USB to get to the debug CLI and I can see my NVME Drive so I suspect it’s not a hardware issue.
I am unsure if the boot loader is active or working correctly. I’m also unable to determine if I’m using ZFS or grub to boot.
Any help would be much appreciated as I have spent...

Hello everyone,
I'm new to proxmox and am not sure about whether I should go with ZFS and/or RAID or without for my hardware.
My hardware:
Lenovo ThinkCentre with Intel i5-9400T 1.80 Ghz
32 GB Non-ECC RAM
1x 256 GB M2-SSD for Proxmox installation
4x 4TB HDD
What I already know is that ZFS has many advantages over the other options but I'm not sure if it is suitable for my hardware because of the resource overhead and Non-ECC memory (although data corruption because of that should be...

Hello Guys,
I mistakenly added new node to cluster using public network (instead of storage one). I'm checking
https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Cluster_Manager#_remove_a_cluster_node
to remove the node. I powered off the machine (pve7) to make sure it will never power on again (going to reconfigure it from scratch)
However, when I execute pvecm nodes, I don't see this node listed
Code:
root@pve1:~# pvecm nodes
Membership information

Nodeid...

Hello everyone!
As you may know some games that use EasyAntiCheat such as New World don't allow running the game from a VM because it caused a bot problem within the game. Now that sucks because I've setup a gaming VM with GPU Passthrough, everything is working flawlessly and I was a bit disapointed when I tried to fire up the game.
Now I've made quite a bit of research to find some info on proxmox and also some other people were able to make it work through Unraid. Here's what I found ...

So for a backstory; I wasn't happy with tailscale because I put them on proxmox host and it made all websites inaccessible. So I decided to uninstall tailscale and purged anything that is leftover in network interfaces. Now that I am able to connect to the web gui as well as another websites running in their own LXCs via Caddy in its own LXC. I already set up my domain and successfully received certification and installed prior to tailscale installation which were working just fine. Do note...

i know i should be able to do this, and various forum entries suggest the same, but for some reason i can't. i'm trying to migrate a vm from a zfs-local proxmox host, to a lvm-local proxmox host, both of which are on version 8.2.
i installed proxmox on the destination host as ext4, then went to the data center (after adding node) and added storage>lvm-thin.
this is the source node:
Code:
zfspool: nvme5
pool nvme5
content rootdir,images
mountpoint /nvme5
nodes...
