Container mount permissions

Hi.

I have followed the guide i found linked for mounting existing zfs storage and i can see my folder structure inside navigator but i am unable to see any of the existing folder contents.

I can create and delete new folders/files i just cannot see the existing stuff.

Proxmox Host Crashing Daily - Debugging Tips

Hi folks!

I've got a Proxmox host that is freezing pretty much on a daily basis, and I'm looking for advice on how to get started debugging it. I've tried looking at the logs and don't see an obvious answer, but I'm not sure I know what to look for.

I've got the host connected to a KVM and when it freezes the host and the VMs on it disappear from my network, but on the KVM I can see the login shell ("Welcome to the Proxmox Virtual Environment") but it's not responsive and I can't log in...

cannot move vm disk

I try to move a vm disk in zfs from one pool to another via gui.
I got this error:

Code: 
create full clone of drive scsi1 (fs01-SSD:vm-996-disk-2)
TASK ERROR: storage migration failed: timeout: no zvol device link for 'vm-996-disk-0' found after 300 sec.

Already searched in form but only what I can find to this error message are vms that will not boot after restart the node.

Using PVE 8.2.2 trying to create backup job for a remote PBS 3.2-3 that was successfully added.

Getting this error message on submit, I am not sure how to troubleshoot as my other PVE 8.2.2 node works fine without this error with the same PBS when making a backup job.

Help with setting up iSCSI target with multiple IPs on Proxmox

Hi,

We have installed a new storage HPE MSA 2060. the storage server has two controllers A&B and each controller has 4 nics(8 nics in total). and each NIC is configured with an IP. so the two controllers have 8 IPs in total.
We're are trying to connect a proxmox cluster to the storage. but not sure which IP of the storage's 8 IPs should we use.

Proxmox allows us to only add 1 ip for the portal. we can't use just one IP becasue we need to have redundancy.

Any way to make proxmox check if ACME cert renewal needed on startup?

I am using my selfhosted smallstep server to issue certificates for everything in my homelab. By design, the certificates are short-lived (only 24 hours). I have managed to request the certificate just fine via proxmox, and the auto renewal process seems to work fine.

However, when the proxmox node is first started up after a few days of being powered off, the certificate is (of course) invalid. It seems that proxmox does not check to see if the certificate is invalid when it boots...

Hallo,

ich habe vor Jahren schon mit Proxmox geliebäugelt und dann einiges getestet.
Leider bakam ich damals einen HBA (IBM Lenovo M1215) für einen TrueNAS VM nicht ohne Fehlermeldungen durchgereicht. Ich habe viel probiert, es leider am Ende nicht geschafft.
Mit ESXi lief es damals direkt fehlerfrei und ich bin dank der kostenlosen Version dort gelandet. Das ist nun Geschichte.
Aus diesem Grund plane ich meinen neuen Homeserver.
Gelesen habe ich auch schon viel, ob für mich TrueNAS Scale...

Hi I have the following setup

Ryzen 5 5600G

Gigabyte B550Mds3h

64 GB corsair vengeance ram

tp link tx201 2.5 gig lan card and on board GBE Nic from Realtek

I would also like to know how to passthrough the onboard SATA ports on to the true NAS VM

also how can I run the PF sense using the 2 NICs

I would like to run proxmox and pf sense and docker containers need your help

Reimaged node showing original LVM name/unavailable

I recently had a cascading disk failure that drove me to reimage one of my nodes. Everything went well with one small exception: the data volume (OS vs data) is showing up with the original name prior to reimaging. I wanted to rename the data volume so it was unique per node (learned that the hard way). While I can use the volume as expected, it shows as inactive but enabled in the interface. This would make sense if it was looking for the legacy volume "data-raid" but it's not seeing the...

ich habe aktuell ein Problem, dass ich mir weder erklären kann, noch finde ich eine Lösung dafür.

Ich habe unter Proxmox mein Synology NAS problemlos per NFS als Storage über die 192.168.1.5 eingebunden.
Nun habe ich vor kurzem in meinem Synology NAS eine 2,5Gbit USB Karte eingebaut (192.168.1.4).
Ich kann das NAS von meinem PC aus darüber ansprechen und auf Freigaben zugreifen, Backups ziehen etc.
Auch von meinem Backup NAS kann ich auf die 192.168.1.4 zugreifen.

I'm new in proxmox, I've been read several article about moving a vm between PVE and found out that they are complicated to do, so is there a simple way of best practice to export a vm from one PVE and import the VM other PVE, or tips ? really appreaciate for any response or advice.

How do I fix this (local-lvm no such logical volume)

I created my proxmox installation by installing debian 11 and then installing proxmox on it and then I added it to a cluster but when I look at it local-lvm status is unknown and when I click it it says "no such logical volume pve/data (500)" how do I fix this. I am running this on a system with only one disk.

Displaying IP of container in GUI?

So for VMs (probably running the qemu-agent) I'm able to see the IP listed in the summary tab of the PVE gui. For containers the best i can find is go to the network tab, look at the Mac address and then query my router to find the IP.

Changing the hostname of a Proxmox 8 VE

I tried changing the hostname using hostnamectl and editing the hostname in /etc/hosts but that broke the node completely and the panel showed up empty upon login. I changed back to the old hostname and rebooted and everything's fine now.

I already read the doc and it says that hostname may only be changed if a node has no VMs but I already do have a few VMs and want to change the hostname of the node, what is the correct/official way to achieve this without breaking anything?

Not sure where else to post this so thought I'd post it here for whoever it may concern.

Having had one licensed Prox server for some while - thank you - I decided I had finally enough regular $$ to pay for a license on two other units I run. I really wanted to make a "donation to the cause" than anything. The boxes aren't that important to run the Enterprise repos - it's really more a case of legally removing the license popup and contributing in a small way.

Resize /dev/pve/data and transfer it to /dev/pve/root

Hi Friends,

Ive recently installed proxmox4.4 on a machine that has 2TB of disk space.
The default partition was:
96GB for /dev/mapper/pve-root
8GB for /dev/mapper/pve-swap

and the rest of the disk size was allocated to /dev/pve/data.

What i would want to do is resize/reduce the disk size of /dev/pve/data by 500GB and transfer that space to /dev/pve/root.
Currenty, I already have 2 VMs running on proxmox.

Is there a way to this without a rescue CD? Any form of help would be great...

Console/Shell not Working

Hi,

I'm not sure what happened, but the Shell & Console stopped working. Nothing loads, and I get this error message every time I click on Console for each LXC/VM, and the Shell just shows a black screen:

failed waiting for client: timed out TASK ERROR: command '/usr/bin/termproxy 5900 --path /nodes/pve --perm Sys.Console -- /bin/login -f root' failed: exit code 1

I've tried reboot, shutting down containers/vm, but nothing seems to work.The last thing I did was install Tailscale...

GUI crashes within minutes after IP change

A bit of background: I recently changed from a old hardware router to Pfsense hosted on Proxmox. Pfsense has its own WAN & LAN port with PCI passthrough to a dual NIC and Proxmox managment has its own NIC(onboard).

After changing the IP range in my network from 10.0.8.1 to 192.168.1.1 and checking the connection to all other servers & managed switch I have running, I havent been able to connect to Proxmox GUI, kinda. I changed Proxmox to be hosted on 192.168.1.201 and the DHCP leasing...
