apt-get upgrade isn't working

Hi,

I am not an administrator but using Proxmox to run some VMs as lab.
I have the latest version PVE 8.2.4, From the web I was routinely updating the system but apt-get upgrade interrupted because of Power outage .
Once the power is restored I tried apt-get upgrade once again but there is a problem with a python package "python3-idna"
I was getting the following error
E: The package python3-idna needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.

snapshot list very slow on very large PBS server

We have pbs server with 8500 vm snapshots. Every VM is about 4TB in size.
With deduplication we store it with 4Tb ssd special device disks + 700 TB 36 HDD disk array.
Everything works almost fine except snapshot list api method.
It takes less that 1 sec if we use cron recaching every 5 minutes.
But if backup list changes it takes about 80 sec to get snapshot list (device has no active backup/restore processes)
And takes up to 10 minutes, if disks are hard loaded.

VM Cpu usage 100%

Hi,
I am new to Proxmox, I set it up and installed some VMs and I can see for example Kali always staying at 100%, running htop inside it confirms the 100% cpu usage.
I have assigned it 4 processors and it's the same, previously I have assigned 2.
Also I am not sure what is the start-stop daemon as it looks like it's taking the whole CPU usage.

Problems importing existing datastore on zfs mirror back into new PBS install.

Been running Proxmox Backup Server as a VM in Proxmox VE.

In PBS VM I added two NVME drives, called sdb and sdc
When I created the datastore, I remember calling it PBS. (and thats about all I remember)

I created the 2 NVME drives into a ZFS mirror. 2x2TB

My question is, how to re-constitute the datastore from the ZFS mirror, and recover all my VM backups?

I had to reinstall Proxmox VE from scratch, and then recreated the PBS VM, and added the two NVME drives to the PBS VM.

No previous backup found, cannot do incremental backup

Hi

First of all, thanks for that awesome proxmox backup server. I currently do my first steps with it and got the most things working properly.

What I noticed is, that the first backup always went trough properly, as soon as I now want do to a second backup of the machine, only lxc is working properly:

Moin,

die einfachte Lösung wäre ein Backup und Zurückspielen. Aber das dauert viel zu lange (10 h).

Daher ist meine Idee, die Konfig rüber zu kopieren, was ich schon gemacht habe und dann die Plattenlaufwerke.
Ich finde jedoch die Platten nicht als eine Datei hinterlegt, sondern lediglich einen Link, von dem ich nicht schlau werden.

Es ist ein Cluster mit Cehp.

Weiß jemand wie ich die Datei finden kann?

Issues with USB NVMe Drive in Proxmox - SMART Monitoring Inconsistency

I've installed a NAND NVMe drive in a USB case and I'm encountering issues with SMART monitoring in Proxmox. I'm receiving emails from Proxmox due to this issue. The strangest part is that I can execute smartctl on the drive only after I click on the "Disks" section in the PVE GUI. Otherwise, it fails. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

Broadcom NICs down after PVE 8.2 (Kernel 6.8)

We had some issues with some broadcom nics going down after update to 6.8

Workaround: NICs go up if you do a service networking restart
FIX: Update Broadcom Firmware to latest firmware and blacklist their "beautiful" infiniband-driver

This will update ALL YOUR Broadcom-Network Cards to their latest firmware (live) (but reboot needed after it):

Ich habe folgenden HomeServer:

- AMD Ryzen 5 2400G
- ESXi 6.5
- 16 GB RAM
- Adaptec 5405 ohne BBU - RAID 1 (2x 3TB NAS HDD)
- 256GB NVME
- 128GB SATA SSD

3 VMs (Nextcloud, Linux VM mit Node-RED, ioBroker etc., Windows Server)

Und jetzt habe ich 3x 14TB Festplatten (2x für RAID1, 1x als Backup-Speicher --> Proxmox Backup-Server? Ich habe auch einen Mini-PC mit AMD A6-5000 und 8GB RAM, der wäre gut geeignet als Backup-Server). Die 3TB Platten fliegen raus.

Backup suceeds but ends up failing verification

For all of my VMs, backups always succeed.
For some of them however, the result is bad:
  • they fail verification
  • the first stored disk cannot be downloaded, the http response is:
    • unable to read fixed index <filename> - Unable to open fixed index <filename> - got unknown magic number
  • of course, the file restire function also gives an error:
    • Starting VM failed. See output above for more information. (500)
    • I failed to find any further information in the...

CIFS remote mount disconnect every X hours

Hi guys, I'm strugling in the last month with my PVE and remote NAS connection via CIFS. At least two times per day my PVE doesn't has the connection to the NAS with an exclamation mark icon near the storage name. The share name is 'Entertainment' and is on an Unraid NAS in my LAN= with fix IP and worked that way for the last three years.

Während ein VM-Backup beim Zurücksichern brav anzeigt, wie viel Daten und % bereits zurückgesichert sind macht ein Container-Restore das nicht.
Wir haben hier grad 3 LXC im Restore zu je 16TB von einem PBS.... kann man irgendwo sehen, wie weit die Restores sind?

Ceph: Unable to create a monitor. Says it already exists.

I need some help with ceph: :)

In my home lab I have a few Intel nucs that I run a proxmox cluster ver. 8.2.4 on.

A while ago, on one of the nodes (mox04) the ceph monitor crashed and I was unable to restart it. I did a "destroy monitor" from the GUI. This caused the node to hang and I had to power cycle it.

The node works fine now, except that I'm not able to create a monitor on the node.
