Hallo werte Community,

habe zu diversen Testzwecken einige VMs am Laufen. Möchte gern ein bischen probieren und testen.

Linux läuft bereits fehlerfrei in der VM. Nun habe ich als zweite VM einmal Win11 installier. Dazu habe ich auch einen Key, den ich aber noch nicht aktiviert habe und noch nicht möchte. Soll eventuell später als reine Installation auf einem System laufen. Egal.
Mein Problem besteht darin, dass ich mich in der VM nicht mit meinem Benutzerdaten anmelden kann, gleichwohl...

Within a vzdump hook script, how can I differentiate scheduled backups from those run interactively via the web UI?
There doesn't appear to be anything in env I might use to do this.

Hi.
Proxmox VE HD spase is getting full.

There have been no problems for three years. The disk has been full for the last 5-6 days and it is impossible to use the console because of this.
Returns an error: error 500 closing file '/var/tmp/pve-reserved-ports.tmp.2150368' failed - no space left on device
I ask you to help solve this problem. There were no such problems before. Due to the fact that I don't have enough knowledge in linux, I can't identify the exact problem to root...

I have two ESXi 6.7U3 boxes. One works fine with Datacenter -> Storage -> Add -> ESXi, the other results in this:



Does anybody know how to fix this?

This got some mentions (#34, #155, #230) in the Import Wizard announcement thread (https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/n...ing-vmware-esxi-based-virtual-machines.144023) but I am not sure if it was answered, that thread has a lot in it at this point.

FYI: The next Proxmox VE point release 8.1 (2023/Q4) will default to QEMU 8.1.
Internal testing for that version started in July with the first release candidates, since then, our engineers have contributed several complex fixes to the stable release. Greetings,
I have an NTFS USB hard drive plugged in my mini PC.
I have installed ntfs-3g.
When I reboot the Proxmox node, the "Disks" section shows the disk. "Lsblk" command also shows the disk ("sda"-> "sda1")

However, only a few seconds after, the USB drive disappears from both "Disks" and "Lsblk".
But the device can still be seen under "lsusb".

EDIT : I have an OMV VM. It seems that shutting it down "liberates" the hard drive, and i can see it back in the "Disks" and "Lsblk" section. Is...

ich habe mal eine etwas pikante Anfrage hier. Gibt es eine Möglichkeit einen Emulator auf einer VOm laufen zu lassen? Ich liebäugel mit dem von einem C64 (commodore) Irgendwie hätte ich wieder mal Lust die Retroschiene zu fahren.^^

Hi, I seem to be having issues with replication failing. The error seems to be some issue with SSH.

Anyone have any idea what this can be? Theres not much info out there on this error.

In a production ESXi environment one has to watch how many snapshots one has and how old they are allowed to get because performance for the VM will degrade (and I believe, eventually, for the other VMs, provided the VMs were busy enough to make a lot of changes since the snapshots were taken).

Does Proxmox have this too?

Hi.

Many thanks for this great tool @proxmox !

I'm new to all of this and would like to setup a homelab on my just replaced main computer, mainly for development purposes (Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, Kafka, etc...)
The HW looks like this:
- AM4 Asus MB
- AMD 8-core CPU
- 128G RAM
- 2T M.2 ssd
- 6x 1T SATA SSD
- 2x 4T SATA HD

Has anyone any suggestions on how to setup proxmox on this configuration, best practices, useful hints (partitioning etc...)?

I would like some help do choose the best setup to create my first proxmox server. I used to use Openmediavault with docker containers, but after some problems to install OMV7 on my new hardware setup, I choose to install proxmox to separate Home assistant OS and other docker containers from the OMV7 system. Hello

Even tho Ubuntu 24.04 is in the proxmox repo we still get

unsupported Ubuntu version '24.04'

from what i can gather its not supported yet. (even tho its in the repo.)

what we can do is add 24.04 as a known verson in this file /usr/share/perl5/PVE/LXC/Setup/Ubuntu.pm

i will try and wait for the fix to be official.

Please fix this soon Proxmox devs, you are awsome

No matter what i do to the the timezone, it is completely off! It is actually 5 hrs off from my local time. So in this example it should be 02:28:27 PM it is the right time zone wrong time.

I know that in general its not suggested to install anything on a Proxmox host, and split it out to an LXC or Docker.

My setup is as following; I run one Proxmox that is hosting two ZFS pools (added via Proxmox webui). In general I went with docker in an LXC mostly because I can pass the ZFS directory directly into it for better speed, and easier to share GPU. I have installed the latest Proxmox VE 8.2.2 using graphical installer, but after installation I'd like to use serial console (/dev/ttyS0). Unfortunately, the serial line is dead. On the other hand, if I install PVE using that same serial console, the console is active: kernel messages are printed on it and it is possible to login over the console.

How can I reconfigure a PVE installed with the graphical installer so that it uses the serial console instead of the graphical sub-system ?
