I have a fresh installation of proxmox 8 latest version and it gives me an out of memory error when I restart the computer. This gives me no VM and the server has 32 GB.

Sudden Bulk stop of all VMs ?

Hi

Every so often, all of a sudden, all guest VMs terminate. Can you please help me troubleshoot why that happens?

I see Bulk start VMs and Containers in the log:

dmesg has the proxmox host has normal start-up messages. Nothing for why the VMs were terminated.

All VMs are running Windows 11.

Should I be looking anywhere else for logs?

Ich habe seit gestern einen Raid 10 mit 6 1,92TB Sata SSD laufen, die Lesegeschwindigkeit ist auch bei den Erwarteten Werten, nicht jedoch die Schreibwerte.

Folgende Test habe ich durchgeführt:

Servus.

Ich weiß, ich bin hier im Proxmox Forum.

Ich habe ein Anliegen das nur ZFS betrifft.

Ich betreibe zurzeit mein Hobe-Lab mit folgenden Komponenten:

Server sind 2 HP DL360P G8
Festplatten sind 6 Samsung 870 QVO im Raid 10 und 2 Crucial P3 Plus 1TB Nvme's(ohne Raid)
Das ganze läuft unter Esxi 7. Der Esxi7 ist auf einem USB Stick installiert(Intern im Server)
VCenter Server standard wird auch ausgeführt.

Habe mir 2 neue Server angeschafft.

Einen Cisco UCS C220 M4 mit 2* Intel(R)...

Hi! First of all, I'm new to all this. Now, I want to setup Proxmox VE via a WIFI USB dongle (I know it's not recommended).

I have managed to set up my Proxmox and my WIFI dongle. (Took me a while and lots of trial and error.) I can now access the Proxmox UI via another laptop on the same network and I can ping google.com from the Proxmox terminal.

PBS Task history creating "bad" files at times

I've recently had a need to copy off a PBS system the Task History Logs and a bunch of those Task History files have been created with "bad" naming conventions. This has caused me problems for syncing the files onto my nextCloud, and I'm sure you'll see the problem with this example:

"UPID:redacted:000289CB:3BEF2DE3:000003B1:64B24022:backup:Redacted/x3act-182:root@pam:"

Proxmox VE 7.4-17 GUI Constantly Stops Responding in Microsoft Edge

This does not happen in Firefox.

Windows 11 Pro, Edge both fully updated. Unsure how long this has been happening.

If I log into the GUI of my cluster, it does not matter which node, and navigate away from the tab for a few minutes, when I return to it the canvas will be white.

Sometimes I can wait and the GUI will render without further incident. If I do not wish to wait the indeterminant amount of time and refresh the page, I will get often get a "This page isn't responding" dialog...

vGPU Tesla P4 wrong mdevctl gpu

Good evening, I have an issue with the Tesla P4 and vGPU. I managed to install the driver and by selecting the mdev profiles, I succeeded in passing the graphics card to both Windows and Ubuntu. The main problem is that on various profiles, the graphics card is recognized as a Tesla P40. What procedure should I follow to change the GPU?

Very high memory usage on VM

Hi, just installed NixOS in a VM with GPU passthrough. Everything seems to be working fine, but the RAM usage being reported from the Proxmox dashboard seems very high. Specially compared to what the VM is reporting...

i customer of mine uses a HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 V4 server, running Windows 10 VMs and would like to use OpenGL on them.
does anybody know if this machine supports GPU passthrough or any other way to get OpenGL running?

Hello everyone,

First time posting on this forum, if I shouldn't post this here just let me know.

I now have a Proxmox Server in my HomeLab for about 2 weeks. I made a install of the newest Proxmox VE 8.1. I changed the update Server to No-Subscription. I didn't change anything else in the Proxmox Config. In the Moment I only have about 5 VM's running (TrueNAS, Docker with NGNIX Proxy Manager, Tailscale VPN, HomeAssistant, Debian VM for some testing).

Backup pves on pbs

How do I do that?
I have various VMs that are all backed up on a pbs. Now I would like to keep certain VMs for different lengths (prune&gc) of time, for example:
- servers last 30 days and maximum 6 months
- old, unused VMs maximum 2 versions
- Workstations 5 days
Where do I define these rules?
Directly on the PBS or on the PVE hosts?

Has anyone had success with passing through the Intel ARC A770M (or similar) to a VM (Windows or Linux)?

I think I have vfio binding mostly working, however when I attempt to start the Windows 11 VM, it complains about VFIO being not ready/giving up on resets (causing the Proxmox task to timeout, the CPU core to lockup, leading to host freezing completely shortly after).

I have a dl380p gen8 with a p420i controller in hba mode. 2 SSDs (OS) and 6 HDDs (DATA) are installed. I tried to install Proxmox on the two SSDs in RAID 1 (ZFS). I was able to select the two hard drives and started the installation, but I got the following error message: unable to create zfs root pool.
