I'm a bit short on time and I was hesitant to share this as recently Hetzner started sending out MAC abuse messages which took me a long time to resolve as it was both a Proxmox issue, which was fixed with PVE 7, and also an issue with this configuration which I finally resolved.

I have been using this configuration for quite a few years and it works great.

Proxmox built in firewall is good, but a bit inflexible as well as I like the VPN functionality (and simplifications) of Firewall...

AMD GPU inaccessible after VM Poweroff: Unable to change power state from D3cold to D0,device inaccessible.

Hi Mates!

My AMD GPU can't be accessed after VM poweroff.

When I first turn on the host, start VM, the GPU which is passthroughed can work normally ( for me the GPU is 5700XT), and I can also see the VM screen on my monitor.

But after I shutdown the VM, I would see this error: vfio-pci 0000:03:00.0: Unable to change power state from D3cold to D0, device inaccessible . And I can't re-start the VM because this problem until I restart the host.

I have a 3 node cluster, 3 identical Dell R630s. All were running Proxmox7 and eventually updated them to 8 ... all good.
Having played with stuff, decided upgrade storage, and do a clean installation on 3.
Got dell bios/idrac updated on all etc.

Now 2 of my nodes got installation done smoothly but my primary node is stuck at:
"EFI stub: Loaded initrd from LINUX_EFI_INITRD_MEDIA_GUID device path"

Somewhere I read that I can get old proxmox installed and upgraded to 8. Is that the only...

Initramfs and static IP?

Hi,

My Proxmox is installed ontop of a Debain 10 ontop of a LVM ontop of LUKS ontop of a mdraid raid1 array.
I use dropbear-initramfs to SSH into the host to unlock the LUKS after boot. Proxmox only starts after I unlocked the LUKS that way.

That worked really fine without any problems, but now I want to change my network so the host is connected to different subnets by a single VLAN Trunk to my switch.
That trunk works fine as soon as proxmox has started but that way I can't use the same...

NFS Server stopped before VMs during shutdown

After upgrading to Proxmox v8, I noticed that powering off / rebooting the host stops the nfs-server immediately, while VM are still running and connected to the NFS server.

I compared the systemd unit and this is what changed, but I'm not sure if the problem is here:

A question about backup integrity with my set up

I have PBS running with an external USB docking station containing an 8TB drive (drive A).

In order to do offsite backup rotations, what I did first was a full backup of proxmox VM's and containers to PBS 8TB drive A. I then cloned the drive to another 8TB drive B.

Once I week, I shut down PBS, I swap drive A and drive B around and then let backups run as usual. As far as PBS is concerned, it thinks it's the same drive, however, each drive has different backup sets.

Hallo zusammen,
nach dem Update auf Proxmox 8.1 hängen sich regelmäßig Debian und Ubuntu VM´s auf, so dass div. Dienste nicht mehr erreichbar sind.
In den Consolen der VM`s findet man unzählige Meldungen:

Restart has broken Ceph functionality

A simple restart seems to have broken ceph function, it now shows the computer I restarted as down for ceph, despite a green tick in the proxmox datacenter indicating it is active, ceph shows "

Hi,

we have installed last week 6 new Servers with following Hardware:

2xIntel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 6338 CPU @ 2.00GHz
512GB RAM
6x25G QSFP28 NICs
2x 1.92TB NVMe
+ NFS Storage (multiple NVMes here)

We host 90% Windows Server 2019 VMs.

In Dmesg we see the following:

CEPH - osd problems every night

I have a 5 node cluster running Proxmox 8.0.3. It has been running fine for several months without any problems.

After rebooting 3 of the nodes last week, I've started to have problems with CEPH. Every night at around 02:05 (00:00 UTC) I see loads of error messages on all OSDs, and VMs lose disk access and become unresponsive. This goes on for around 30 minutes, and then then the system is back to normal again.

vzdump/fullbackup client side online encryption

hello,

i wondered if we could have client-side online encryption to have vzdump backup stored encrypted on the target datastore.

i guess this is something many people can need and which currently is only available with proxmox backup server.

i have taken a look into that , and it should probably be not too hard to be implemented.

all you need to do is passsing the backup stream via pipe trough an encryption tool.

i assume this can perhaps be done via a vzdump hook script, but i need to...

Cannot log in to Web UI with certain browsers

Just in the last few months I have had an issue logging in to the Web UI with certain browsers. Right now Microsoft Edge seems to be the only one that works. The behavior is that I get the Proxmox VE login box with the ability to enter all the information. Even though it is entered correctly when I click the Login button it never gets past this step to get to the portal. The Login Box just remains there. Chrome and Brave no longer work and I have to use Microsoft Edge. I have not tested with...

Hello. This is my first time installing Proxmox. I looked at the installation docs and watched two youtube videos to ensure I installed it correctly. The machine boots up, and when I go to the address for the web interface, 'https://192.168.0.200:8006', I cannot reach the page. I am also not able to ping the address. The machine cannot ping servers like 8.8.8.8. I even tried scanning the network with Angry IP Scanner on another machine, and nothing shows up on the ip (192.168.0.200)...

TAPE connection

I have a PBS server 2.4-1 that I'm trying to connect to a TAPE.

This is why I purchased a SAS card, specifically the SAS Adaptor ASA-70165H.
The TAPE is a TS4300

The TAPE is already connected to another server running Veeam.
The TAPE works normally with the Veeam system, the cables work, the SAS card is recognized by the PBS server.

The problem is that if I try to connect the PBS server to the TAPE it does not recognize the connection.

I need your help with choosing best option to host containers with access (write/read) between them. I need to run jellyfin with some disk management software like OMV.
