Needs for HA system

Hi, I want to try the HA cluser in proxmox, I read post and "how to" wiki, I need some confirmation to start: 1. Basic system could be: 3 server and external iSCSI NAS where put VD (visible to all 3 server)? 2. Is there a problem in hardware are promiscuous if migrate VM from one server to another? 3. With this installation is mandatory to have fences device? Thanks for help

which zfs server to use?

We want to set up a zfs server to test _ZFS_over_iSCSI . I'm researching which zfs platform to use. Per the wiki solaris based platforms with Comstar are recommended.....To those using the new zfs storage plugin for production : which zfs server are you using?

Removing iSCSI disk

Hello all.

Seems the procedure is still mostly manual and the same since Proxmox 1 (ive years and two major releases):
http://forum.proxmox.com/threads/357...system-to-hang (last message contains the details).

Currently, after you've removed both the LVM and its iSCSI backing from the GUI, you still can not disconnect the iSCSI server, or your nodes will hang! Actually, it seems "just" pvscan (pvs) hangs because it still tries to access the iSCSI storage. But that means the GUI marks the node as "dead" and VMs can not be online-migrated to other hosts.

Could it be possible to manage the logout & delete steps together with the removal from the GUI?
Code:

iscsiadm -m node -T $IQN --logout
iscsiadm -m node -T $IQN --op=delete

Seems those are the only two really needed ops (well, GUI should also check there are no active virtual disks and disable the VG...).

That could save big headaches to many users that need to add iscsi just temporarily...

Subject: Cron <root@xx-xx-222-xx> test -x /usr/sbin/anacron || ( cd / && run-parts --report /etc/cron.daily )
Message:
/etc/cron.daily/mlocate:
/usr/bin/updatedb.mlocate: `/var/lib/mlocate/mlocate.db' is locked (probably by an earlier updatedb)

What is wrong? How can I fix it?

Help with Mini ITX Q1900/J1900 Install Aborted

$

I'm a long time ESXi guy trying to fire up Proxmox in my home lab so I can get better with Linux and learn something new. Hoping you guys can point me in the right direction to get the install to complete.

I get an ERROR could not insert 'video' and then a few steps later in the install, right after detecting network I get an \nInstallation aborted - unable to continue.

In debugging mode I checked out /var/logs and found an X.org log that contained "EE Fatal server error no screens found"

I did a fair amount of Googling and the only thing I turned up was a recommendation to Install Debian Wheezy. If that is the right way to go I will give it a try but I thought I'd ask here if there is a way to move forward with the standard install.

My Setup:
ASRock Q1900 mini-itx w/integrated Quad Core 2GHz J1900 w/VT-x support enabled
8Gb RAM
120gb Kingston SSD
I'm using a 1GB Bootable USB drive to install with VE 3.4-3f2d890e-1.iso

I've also tried the vga=normal switch during debug. If I had to guess perhaps the integrated video on my Q1900 board (which is 7th Gen Intel HD Graphics) isn't compatible or needs some special parameters or driver? I used a DVI connection to plug my monitor in, I could always find a VGA cable if necessary.

Any help you pros could send my way would be appreciated. I'd really like to get Proxmox up and running. Containers look fascinating. Thanks in advance.

Hello forum:D!

yesterday I found my VM was not working, so I tried to restore it from a backup. When a restore is attempted, I get the following output:

The other thing I had found was that the original Virtual sata disk was gone, and the RAM was set to 128MB.

My goal now is to bring back the original disk, as I have found how to make the data on it work for me.

I did find the .qcow2 file, but how do I attach it to the VM?

Thank you whoever helps me

can you add rbd-fuse to proxmox repository?

is wheezy backports supported? i only ask because rbd-fuse is in backports, but not in main wheezy.

could you add rbd-fuse to the repository? it makes automated setup of template clones really easy. otherwise you have to edit the clone and then move_disk, which is slow.

Hi everybody,

I'm pretty sure this is a common problem, but I could not find the same in the recent messages of this forum.
After updating through the web interface, I can ssh into my Proxmox, and the VMs are started. But no more web interface, and the following errors when doing pvevefsion -v :

Proxmox Firewall, IPv6 and ICMP

$

Hi,

I've got troubles using IPv6 with firewall enabled. After different searches I've found that some more ICMPv6 types have to be enabled.

After reading post like this : http://pivotallabs.com/configuring-f...6-dhcp-client/ and http://www.cert.ssi.gouv.fr/site/CERTA-2006-INF-004/ (sorry in French).

I've found that rules like this https://www.cert.org/downloads/IPv6/ip6tables_rules.txt or from shorewall /usr/share/shorewall6/action.AllowICMPs makes thinks working better.

So I propose this patch
Code:

Hello,
I have to replace quorum disk which is connected throught ISCSI.

Is ok do on running system:
- disconnect iscsi mapped old qdisk - quorum disk to offline
- attach new iscsi location - new disk
- mkqdisk with same name

Is any better/safer solution ?

Thanks for reply

Openvz cointainer: “mount: Cannot allocate memory”

Hello,

I am facing a weird issue.
In an OpenVZ cointainer, with CentOS 6 64 bit, I've an high number of bind and tmpfs mounts (I need them for the cPanel Apache Jailshell):

# mount | wc -l
4091

At some point, it started to refuse to mount new ones, with the following error message:

# mount -t tmpfs tmpfs /root/prova10
mount: Cannot allocate memory

I've enough free memory:
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 10240 9622 617 428 0 4891
-/+ buffers/cache: 4731 5509
Swap: 4096 581 3514

Also, I can't find anything weird in my beancounters (I've already tried to raise the physpages value to no avail, that is not the problem here):

Tape Drive not detected since Proxmox 3.3

Hello everyone,

my tape drive isn't detected by the system since the last update from version 3.1 to 3.4. It is a simple SAS tape drive (Quantum LTO4 TC-L42AN) connected to a DELL PERC 6/i SAS RAID Controller. After several reinstallations with different version from 3.1 to 3.4, I found out, that the drive is detected up to version 3.2. The st and osst module are not loaded since version 3.3. I loaded them with modprobe but drive doesn't show up.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Sorry for my bad english.

On lun add/remove all iscsi sessions are restarting

Hi, I'm using scst v3.0.2 target with Proxmox VE 3.4

When I add/remove iscsi LUN, whole VM's which connected to this
target stops it's disk activity, and seems to be forced to re-connect to
target. It's not a problem when you have 3-5 luns, but when target have
more than 100 luns this re-connect sequence takes about 10 minutes Is
it possible, to change such behavior ?

SCST team's answer on such request follows:

Please ask the Proxmox maintainers to modify how SCSI unit attention conditions are handled in Proxmox. SCST submits a "REPORTED LUNS DATA HAS CHANGED" to the initiator after a LUN has been added or removed. If the initiator receives that UA it should rescan LUNs instead of disconnecting and reconnecting. See also http://www.t10.org/lists/asc-num.htm for a complete list of unit attention conditions.
