Need help with 4-nodes cluster (2 HA domains)

$

Configuration: 4 servers, all connected to FC SAN and will be use shared disk, fence device
I want to create 2 HA groups. Now I am trying to find how to save quorum if 2 nodes fail.
Probably it's about qdisk configuration.
Maybe someone already did it?

I'm afraid that all the VM snapshot that I do automaticaly will have the same problem.

Note: I do not have this problem when I make a manual backup

Hi, a couple of hours ago I left you to access the web configuration of Proxmox nor have access to virtual machines. I've rebooted several times and I have also also done in recue mode, there is nothing wrong with the server, the disks are fine, etc, etc.

Ssh if I agreed and according to the error log of apache have a problem with perl:

Code:

Doing

Code:

dpkg-query --show -f '${PACKAGE} ${VERSION} ${STATUS}\n'

I think here is the problem:

Code:

man-db 2.5.7-8 install ok half-configured
pve-manager 2.1-1 install ok half-configured

But I can not reinstall or anything ... please someone with this idea and can help me ... I'm desperate.

Thank you.

troubleshooting performance issues

I have a RDS server that roughly 20 people use at any time, and for the past couple of weeks we have had some performance issues. Though I can't tell if it's the VM host or if it's the NAS server. We're running a NFS server off FreeNAS.

No backups or anything else is running that I can tell. The setup we have is a dedicated network for the NAS from the data network.

How do you guys troubleshoot performance issues?

Use 2.0 Cluster Documentation for Proxmox 3.3 ?

$

Although I'm using Proxmox 3.3, I used documentation labeled 2.0, when I created my small 2 server cluster. That documentation is located here:
https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Proxmox...te_the_Cluster

Now that I'm adding hard drives to an existing node, I'm trying to decide whether to delete that node completely or reinstall the node. Advice regarding this choice would be appreciated.

However, the primary reason I'm submitting this post, is to ask about the validity of this 2.0 documentation. Does this documentation apply fully to the 3.3 release? Is this the latest documentation regarding Proxmox clustering? If so, perhaps this fact should be explicitly indicated in the introduction to eliminate uncertainly caused by its title: "Proxmox VE 2.0 Cluster".

Machine: q35 and FreeBSD - Stuck on boot

Hi to all users :),

for testing i'll migrate all my VMware esxi free on proxmox 3.3,
i have a VM with nas4free and 2 IBM m1015 controller (PCI-e) with passthrough, on vmware all works flawless.

On proxmox i have a problem with pass through, if i try to pass through the 2 controller on windows machine all works.

if i activate machine: q35 on freebsd guest the boot stuck on "usbus7: 480Mbps".

without machine q35 all works but i can't pass through the 2 controller.

i have searched all over the internet but i don't have find anything

for test i have downloaded the freebsd 9.3 live iso and the problem is the same, stuck on usbus7..

the kernel i've tryed are the last 3.10-4 and the last 2.6, same problem on both

i don't know how to fix this...

thanks for your help

How to migrate CT from Proxmox 1.9 to 3.3 (network issue)

$

I would share my experience.

Scenario:
Server 1: OVH, proxmox 1.9 with 2 CT, 1 IP + 2 IPFailover, shorewall with NAT and Firewall, no mailserver
Server 2: OVH, proxmox 3.3 , 1 IP, no shorewall, default proxmox networking model, proxmox firewall inactive at moment, no mailserver
Shared NAS

Target:
Quickly migrate all containers from server1 to server 2

Steps: (if needed, steps 1 and 2 can be reversed)

CT1 migration (10GB):
1) vzdump (25 min)
2) stop CT1 (to avoid new database entry)
3) vzrestore on server 2 (5 minutes)
4) start CT1 on server 2
5) test CT1 (could be usefull a second IP) if fails start CT1 on SERVER 1 else goto next step
6) Point first IPFailover to new server

CT2 migration (50GB)
1) stop CT1 (to avoid new database entry)
2) vzdump (45 min)
3) vzrestore on server 2 (35 minutes)
4) start CT2 on server 2
5) test CT2 (could be usefull a second IP) if fails start CT2 on SERVER 1 else goto next step
6) Point second IPFailover to new server

Problem:
I get only a networking problem on step 5, the OUTbound connection are KO, the CT doesn't ping outside the host.
I suppose it's related to the different network configuration from server1 and server2

Solution:
comining soon (Any tip?)

Proxmox one public ip - forwarding best done with HAProxy?

$

What would be the best solution to forward external requests to different VE's with internal networks without having to do portforwarding with different IP's.

Would HAProxy be the best option, to forward with domainnames to the different VE's ?
(Every VE can have its own domain or subdomain)

Or are there other better or easier solutions?

I migrated a CT (ubuntu) from an OVH Proxmox 1.9 server to an OVH Proxmox 3.3 server using vzdump/vzrestore.

All goes fine but the migrated CT is not able to ping in outbounding.

Scenario as described in this post: :http://forum.proxmox.com/threads/199...mox-1-9-to-3-3

Previous network model: use shorewall with NAT and Firewall.

New network model: proxmox default venet

[SOLVED] PCIe Passthrough error

Hi there,

I am trying to implement proxmox on a PCEngines APU Board. Proxmox itself is running fine, but I also want to passthrough a PCIe Wifi Card (AR928X) to a VM running pfsense.

I think I did everything mentioned in the Pci_passthrough Wiki, but when I start the virtual machine, I get this error message: "TASK ERROR: Cannot open iommu_group: No such file or directory" and the virtual machine stops.

Code:

Does anyone has any idea if I am doing something wrong or what I could try to get this working?

Can you reapply subcription keys after re-installation?

$

In my small cluster, I have a Proxmox server with an active subscription of this type:
Proxmox VE Community Subscription 2 CPUs/year

Today I will be doing a major hardware upgrade where I will be adding 4 additional hard drives to this server's RAID 10 controller (making 8 total).

From my reading, there are two ways to achieve this hardware upgrade and both ways require re-installation of Proxmox:
1) Remove_a_cluster_node
2) Re-installing_a_cluster_node

Method 1 seems like it would require me to register my subscription key again (for the 2nd time). However, each subscription seems to be associated with a unique server ID (which can be found when you go to the subscription tab of a server node, in the web interface). Upon reinstallation, will my server ID change? And, if so, will this cause any issues while attempting to reapply my existing active subscription key?

Method 2 seems like it would NOT require registering my subscription key again. Is my assumption correct?

Additonally, any advice regarding your preference (between the two methods above) (with or without regard to subscription keys) would be highly appreciated, as I intend to do this today (after the new hard drives arrive).

KVM: VMXNET3 vs. VirtIO

Which of those two NIC emulators (or paravirtualized network drivers) performs better with high PPS throughput to KVM guests? Google lacks results on this one and it would be interesting to know if anyone benchmarked both with Proxmox and to what kind of conclusion they came. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Either cannot access KVM machines or cannot access internet

I have currently a Proxmox host with 4 VZ containers and 2 KVM Machines.

The pveversion from the host:

Code:

root@sol:~# pveversion -v
proxmox-ve-2.6.32: 3.2-132 (running kernel: 2.6.32-31-pve)
pve-manager: 3.2-4 (running version: 3.2-4/e24a91c1)
pve-kernel-2.6.32-29-pve: 2.6.32-126
pve-kernel-2.6.32-31-pve: 2.6.32-132
lvm2: 2.02.98-pve4
clvm: 2.02.98-pve4
corosync-pve: 1.4.5-1
openais-pve: 1.1.4-3
libqb0: 0.11.1-2
redhat-cluster-pve: 3.2.0-2
resource-agents-pve: 3.9.2-4
fence-agents-pve: 4.0.5-1
pve-cluster: 3.0-12
qemu-server: 3.1-16
pve-firmware: 1.1-3
libpve-common-perl: 3.0-18
libpve-access-control: 3.0-11
libpve-storage-perl: 3.0-19
pve-libspice-server1: 0.12.4-3
vncterm: 1.1-6
vzctl: 4.0-1pve5
vzprocps: 2.0.11-2
vzquota: 3.1-2
pve-qemu-kvm: 1.7-8
ksm-control-daemon: 1.1-1
glusterfs-client: 3.4.2-1

Currently I have an issue and it seems to be based around what order the IP's are setup as either through the Proxmox Virtual Environment or through the actual VZ container in /etc/network/interfaces. Either I can't ping the KVM machines from that VZ Container or I can't reach the internet through that VZ container but the KVM pings fine.

So, if the private IP on venet0:2 with IP address 10.0.0.108 appears first in ifconfig or on the Proxmox Virtual Environment panel,

Host -> this VZ container OK
this VZ Container -> OpenVZ OK
KVM -> this VZ container OK
this VZ Container -> KVM OK
this VZ container -> Internet NOT OK
Internet -> OpenVZ Container OK

If the public internet IP appears first, then

Host -> OpenVZ OK
OpenVZ -> OpenVZ OK
KVM -> OpenVZ OK
OpenVZ -> KVM not OK
Internet -> OpenVZ OK
OpenVZ -> Internet OK
At this point I am extremely confused. I need all pings to work properly because on one of my OpenVZ Container lies my SQL server, and I would like to not have to expose that SQL server to the internet. The KVM machines are running Ubuntu, the OpenVZ Containers are running Debian.

BTW, IPv4 forwarding is enabled everywhere - it doesn't seem to affect anything if I enable or disable.

If I need to provide any more information, please ask.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide. I've been spending about a month on this with no luck.

I just downloaded, burned the ISO, did the install, everything looked good but when I try to login https://192.168.1.6/8006 I get no response. I've tried a few browsers but same result.

Unable to boot Proxmox without CD in drive.

I installed Proxmox on a computer a 500GB HD and everything seemed to complete fine. However, I am unable to boot directly from the HD without having the CD in the drive and even then I have to go into the BIOS boot manager and select the HD. Is this by design? Do did something go wacky with my install? Did attempt a few different times to no prevail using both ACHI and IDE settings for the drive controller.

I've searched for threads on this but I'm still unclear as to what this error means and how to fix it.

I've just created a fresh install of 3.3 on a P4 Dell server and no matter how simple a VM I create when I try to start them I get this error.

Can somebody tell me what this is specifically referring to and how to fix it?

Thanks much.
