Hello,

I get strange problems when trying to add a TV-card to my guest.

The error is:
Code:

# qm start 111

kvm: -device pci-assign,host=07:05.0,id=hostpci0,bus=pci.0,addr=0x10: Device 'kvm-pci-assign' could not be initialized

IOMMU is enabled:
Code:

# dmesg | grep -e DMAR -e AMD-Vi
AMD-Vi: Enabling IOMMU at 0000:00:00.2 cap 0x40
AMD-Vi: Initialized for Passthrough Mode

lspci for this device:
Code:

07:05.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7146 (rev 01)
    Subsystem: Technotrend Systemtechnik GmbH S2-3200
    Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 20
    Memory at fe600000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512]

Any idea? 'Invalid argument' didn't get me any results.

I am working on a Proxmox VE cluster for a dedicated customer of mine. The test installs have worked quite well, but as we push forward to production I wanted to see about adding separate networks. All of the servers in the cluster have 4 NICs in them and I would like to use them in this way:

eth0: management network behind firewall
eth1: backup/migration network
bond0: eth2+eth3 LACP for vlan tagged networks for containers

I have looked for similar examples and have played with it some, any pointers you have though.

How to build a vm with a existing image

Hi,
I would like to create a vm with a existing qcow2 image file.
Which is the best way to do this?

I would first create a vm with proxmox.
After this i would overwrite the qcow2 image whit the qcow2 image file from my exixting vm.

Is this the right way?

I/O Problems

Hello,

I have one server with one i7-3770K and with 32GB ram and 2 1TB WD disk SATA3 7200rpm.

I now use software raid 1 and the avarge I/O rate with 5 vps ~10%.

The community dosen't have much money but i need to do something.

What is the better choose? Hardware Raid controller or one NAS with RAID 1 and with NFS share?

And one more which disk type can i get lower I/O?

Sorry for my bad eng and for the no money but I want everything style.

Trim

Ok i have looked in these forums and see that TRIM should be enabled in the kernel but when I try to mount something with the discard option the mount fails with invalid option. The file system is EXT4 so not really sure what else is needed.

First time I install a cluster on my master. I'm running version 2.3 on master and the last version on the cluster node, 3.1 I have used this guide http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Proxmox_VE_Cluster

When I ran this step,
pveca -a -h IP-ADDRESS-MASTER
I got this error
Waiting for quorum... Timed-out waiting for cluster
[Failed]

When I restart cman I got this message
Waiting for quorum... Timed-out waiting for cluster

Hi,

I have 2 VM (1 KVM, 1 OpenVZ) on a single host.
I doin' daily backup and KVM seems fine but Open VZ report this error:

Looking back in the forum archive it seems a space problem on my storage...???
Can you help troubleshooting this?

Ubuntu 12.04 CT - procps upgrade fails

Been bumping up against this on several Ubuntu 12.04 LTS containers

Code:

Setting up procps (1:3.2.8-11ubuntu6.1) ...
start: Job failed to start
invoke-rc.d: initscript procps, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error processing procps (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Found a solution here that worked for me:

Quote:

I just ran into the same issue. A simple workaround is to delete the file /etc/sysctl.d/10-kernel-hardening.conf

This has the rule: kernel.kptr_restrict = 1 which you can't do from an OpenVZ container.

about the virtual appliances,i think it need some update.http://download.proxmox.com/appliances/system/

and then,i need some help with iptables.
when i set this
Code:

iptables -A INPUT -m state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT
SSH output is
Code:

iptables: No chain/target/match by that name.
why is that?
maybe this will help
Code:

# cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.32-26-pve (root@lola) (gcc version 4.7.2 (Debian 4.7.2-5) ) #1 SMP Mon Oct 14 08:22:20 CEST 2013

# cat /etc/redhat-release

running on proxmox ve 3.1-24

as the title says,
is there anyone having some trouble after upgrading RAM?
as for the HDD,
after upgrading from 2 physical HDD to 4 HDD, from RAID 1 to RAID 10, is there any problem with proxmox or VMs?
if there is, please share the solution to me.how to fix that.thanks

KSMD with one VM

Just wanted to get some input. Is KSMD worth running when we only run one VM per cluster? I was thinking it might be a waste of CPU cycles with only one VM.

USB Passthrough via VM.conf only usb0-usb4 working.

Hello,

I'm trying to connect 7 usb devices to a VM that are connected (and working) on the host. The devices are attached through a Dlink USB-Hub.

my /etc/pve/qemu-server/.conf file has the following entrys:

Code:

usb0: host=2-1.1.2
usb1: host=2-1.1.3
usb2: host=2-1.1.4
usb3: host=2-1.1.1.1
usb4: host=2-1.1.1.2
usb5: host=2-1.1.1.3
usb6: host=2-1.1.1.4

doing a 'qm monitor xxx' i get:

Code:

vm 100 - unable to parse value of 'usb5' - unknown setting 'usb5'
vm 100 - unable to parse value of 'usb6' - unknown setting 'usb6'

-> only usb0-usb4 appearing in the VM.

I searched Google but only found this - i established contact by email and was that told that the issue was never resolved.

So what am I doing wrong here? Do i require a paid subscription to have this solved (like get some extra/premium packages)?

Hello All,

I have a query related to VM migration from an old proxmox server to new one. I have PVE 1.8 running in the old server and bought a new one which has PVE version 3.1-24 installed in it now. There are some 30 VMs present in my old server which I need to move into this new one. Can anyone suggest how can I migrate or clone the VMs present in PVE1.8 server and use them in the new server?

Thank you in advance.

How to remove a VM whose storage is no longer accessible

I was doing some experimentation with using RBD storage for my Proxmox cluster. At one point I had a VM stored on one of my RBD pools but I have since deleted that RBD pool. When I try to remove the VM, it basically just says it can't find the storage. How can I manually remove this VM from the list?

HA between 2 datacenters

Hello,

Is it posible to configure Proxmox HA between 2 datacenters?
The connection between the datacenters is not always very fast. (sometimes +50MB/sec in the worst case 3MB/sec)
In our test with drbd and protocol C the VM's are very slow.
With protocol A the vm is read only on the other side.

DAB for Debian Testing?

Is there some way to have DAB using the testing version of Debian while building? I understand this may come with some inherit bugs...

Right now I am building Wheezy and copying my own /etc/rc.local startup script that updates the system to testing on first boot and
then removes itself. For 1 machine, that's not a big deal - but I have 60+ I am getting ready to rebuild...
